Baroness Tanni Grey-Thompson speaker breakfast

15 May 2012

The 2012 Olympics is fast approaching and in anticipation of this prestigious event we invited Tanni Grey-Thompson to speak at our London office to share her insight into the games. With more than 7.7 million tickets available for the Olympic Games, it was reassuring to hear that Tanni believes the UK to be the most prepared host to date. She shares many peoples’ frustration at not being able to get tickets. Paradoxically she views this as a good thing, as it reflects just how excited people are about the event. Especially in 2012, when this positive energy seems to permeate the whole country and is not just confined to London.

It was an inspirational talk, with Tanni also touching on her personal achievements including:

• 16 Paralympic medals, including 11 golds
• Over 30 world records
• Winner of six London Marathons between 1992 and 2002

Not to mention her fight to remain in mainstream school and for people to see beyond her wheelchair.

We thank Tanni for a fascinating start to a Tuesday morning. Thank you also to the lawyers and accountants we work alongside, who joined us for the event. It re-affirmed the importance of strong partnerships, as like athletes, it’s difficult to achieve goals alone and without hard work.
