Bespoke Service For Charities
We manage all charity investment portfolios on an individual basis.
We start by understanding your charity’s investment requirements, the breadth of our client base and industry contacts give us a good understanding of the diverse aims, objectives and differing requirements of charities across the UK. The outline of asset allocation will consider:
-
Your income and growth needs
-
Time horizons
-
Your attitude to risk and higher-risk assets
-
Your social and ethical preferences, and
-
An agreed benchmark.
We look after the day-to-day management of each portfolio on a discretionary basis and you can expect direct access to the person dealing with your charity’s investments.
We take responsibility for the decision to buy and sell individual investments. This contrasts with the common use of collective investment funds – an approach taken by some investment managers, particularly with smaller charities, where discretion is effectively passed on to a third party investment manager who is less familiar with your charity’s overall objectives and preferences.
Due to increasing pressure to deliver on charities’ stated aims, the income that your investments generate can be crucial. Our investment managers can help you find a balance between preserving your charity’s capital, generating enough income to grow and being prepared to mitigate unforeseen circumstances.
Your investment portfolio will need to adapt to the changing circumstances of your charity and of the external economic environment. Once an investment strategy is agreed we will set-about developing a suitable asset allocation that may include:
-
direct equities
-
fixed income
-
alternative investments, such as hedge funds
-
property and commodities
Everything we do is supported by the Rathbone Investment Process – our performance-driven investment research. This guides our investment managers in their decisions while still giving them discretion over your portfolio.

Understanding your financial requirements & aspirations is essential to the way we work.
