Rathbones continues to review community activities, both on a national and a local scale, and supports employees’ participation in a wide range of activities involving both local and international charities.
We encourage employees to take up voluntary and charitable positions, and the Board supports participation in such activities. Staff are encouraged to donate to charity in a tax efficient manner through the GAYE payroll giving scheme administered by the Charities Aid Foundation.
In 2010, The Anthony Nolan Trust and CHILDREN with LEUKAEMIA were selected by employee ballot as our charities for 2010/11 and employees will be encouraged to support these two charities through a range of activities. To find out about our chosen charities for 2010/11 go to Charitable giving.
In addition, staff support the Personal Finance Education Group (PFEG), an independent charity helping schools to plan and teach personal finance. PFEG’s ‘Use Your Expertise’ scheme encourages volunteers from the financial services sector to use their expertise in the classroom. In June 2009, 19 employees volunteered and participated in two successful events in Liverpool and London as part of PFEG’s first ‘My Money Week’ initiative designed to bring schools and local communities together to learn more about managing money in a practical and relevant way.
In 2007 Rathbones made a significant commitment to support four Liverpool secondary schools in their bids for Specialist Schools and Academies Trust status. Find out more about our support for Specialist Schools.
Rathbones also provides support in the form of sponsorship, advertising and attendance at events organised by charities and arts organisations. For further information click here.
