We would be delighted for you and your trustee colleagues to join our charity trustee training seminar Warrington on 13th February. Claris D’cruz of Wrigley Solicitors LLP will discuss effective charity governance and the role of trustees in creating an enduring legacy. Laura Inglesby and Anna Spencer-Gray of RSM UK Audit LLP will discuss reserves resilience in charities and the importance of maintaining an adequate reserves policy. Rathbones’ investment director, Adrian Maxwell, will speak on the importance of charity investment policy statements (IPS) and discuss best practice for trustees writing and reviewing an IPS.

Presentations will be followed by lunch and a chance to network with other trustees and professionals.

Speakers

Claris D'cruz is a consultant working with Wrigleys' clients nationwide. Claris qualified as a Barrister in 1994 and has been practising as a charity lawyer for nearly 20 years.

Claris advises charities and independent schools on a range of legal issues including: charity formations, restructures, mergers and collaborations, trustees' powers and duties, managing conflicts of interest and dealing with the Charity Commission. Claris has written articles for amongst others Charity Finance, Third Sector and the Bursars' Review.

Laura Inglesby is an audit senior manager and heads up RSM’s charity sector in the North West. She has more than 11 years’ experience in the charity sector and also specialises in the financial reporting of academies and independent schools.

Anna Spencer-Gray is an audit partner and heads up RSM’s charity sector in Birmingham. She has more than 14 years’ experience in the charity sector and works with some of the largest charities, academies, independent schools, further education colleges and social housing providers across the Midlands and the North West.  Anna is also a regular speaker at seminars and training events in the not-for-profit sector.

Adrian Maxwell, investment director, joined Rathbones in 2004 following completion of his Financial Economics degree. He specialises in the management of Charities and Private Clients. Adrian invests in all asset classes on behalf of his clients, but is particularly enthusiastic about equity investments. Adrian is a member of Rathbones’ Stock Selection Committee.
