Rathbones Asset Management launches new Asia ex-Japan fund
|
The Rathbone SICAV Asia Equity Fund is managed by Lisa Lim and is a high conviction and concentrated, actively managed portfolio of typically 25-35 holdings. The portfolio is bottom-up-driven and is focused on companies with high-quality and innovative business models, robust governance frameworks and proven management teams, and strong balance sheets.
The portfolio consists of businesses which are not only leading in Asia, but in many cases are also global leaders in their respective sector. Lim looks to protect on the downside, and grow investors’ capital. The sub-fund also makes disclosures in accordance with the requirements under Article 8 of the EU Sustainable Finance Disclosure Regulation.
Lisa Lim, fund manager of the Rathbone SICAV Asia Equity Fund, said:
“Asia represents not only the fastest growing region in the world, but also acts as a centre of innovation and technological leadership. We believe now is an inflection point in the region as its focus on innovation matures and becomes a true engine of growth for the long-term. Our approach is to identify quality businesses with sustainable competitive advantages, robust governance and the ability to deliver long-term returns for our clients.”
Lim joined Rathbones in March 2025, bringing long corporate and investing experience in Asia ex-Japan. Previously, Lim worked at Prusik Investment Management where she was a Partner and Portfolio Manager, and was instrumental in setting up and leading its sustainable investing capabilities. Prior to this, she was a fund manager at Columbia Threadneedle for over a decade and led several Asia equities institutional portfolios. Lisa started her career as an academic where she was an Assistant Professor in Engineering at The National University of Singapore.
Tom Carroll, CEO, Rathbones Asset Management, said:
“The launch of this fund marks an important step forward in our growth strategy, as we look to bring in world-class expertise and launch strategies in new parts of the market for Rathbones Asset Management. Our investors want truly specialist fund management in markets which reward long-term active stock-picking and local knowledge in a dynamic region. This delivers that.”
