Synopsis

The support of donors is important for charities but what about that of the team behind the charity? When facing obstacles – be them cuts in Government funding, limited resources, downsizing – how do you keep the team motivated and focused to work successfully together?

Using his experiences of leading the first British team to walk unsupported to the North Pole, Alan discussed his methods of adaptation to the extreme physical and mental pressures which supported the team’s success.

Alan answers our questions on the importance of honesty in teams and extreme climates.

1. Team competition encourages productivity

2. Is there a simple step to team motivation?

3. What has been the biggest challenge you have faced?

4. If you were to set up a foundation, who would its beneficiaries be?
