Angus Thirlwell, co-founder of Hotel Chocolat, joined us to share Hotel Chocolat’s journey since opening its doors to guests in North London in 2004. The start of a revolution in British chocolate.

Interviewed by Melanie Wotherspoon, Business development director

When the very first Hotel Chocolat shop opened its doors to guests in North London in 2004, it was the start of a revolution in British chocolate. Two entrepreneurs, Angus Thirlwell and Peter Harris, were on a mission to make chocolate exciting again.

Today, Hotel Chocolat has 93 shops as well as cafés and restaurants and has now opened three boutiques in Copenhagen. They also have a hotel on their working cocoa plantation in the Caribbean.

Angus Thirlwell talks to us about this busy period of change and growth and the three basic values that they started with over 20 years ago.
