Winning mentality

Three British sporting greats visited our new London head office recently to discuss the growth of women's sport, inspiring the next generation and the importance of hosting world competitions in the UK.

As sponsors of the FIL Rathbones Women’s Lacrosse World Cup that is being held at Surrey Sports Park this July, we are looking forward to 11 days of great sport, but feel the event will offer a lot more than this. It is also an opportunity to shine a light on sporting talent in the UK, show that women's sport is just as exciting as men's and to encourage people, especially the young, to get active and involved.

Gill Burns, former captain of the Women’s England Rugby team and winner of the Women’s Rugby World Cup 1994; Charlotte Edwards, former captain of the Women’s England Cricket team and winner of the 2009 Women’s World Twenty20; and Kate Richardson Walsh, captain of the Women’s gold medal-winning Great Britain Hockey team in 2016, joined us to discuss these themes, and to share experiences and advice gleaned from over 35 years of combined experience.

Follow us on Twitter or Facebook – we will be sharing videos of this event and more in the lead up to the Rathbones World Cup.
