Sarah became a member of both organisations after completing her Bachelor Degree at Keele University in History and Sociology.

Brendan Butler

Brendan is a Senior Investment Director with experience managing a variety of bespoke portfolios including SIPPs, ISAs, and discretionary trusts for private clients, financial advisers and solicitors. He is also a Trustee of Canine Partners, the assistance dog charity.
Brendan has a first class honours degree in Veterinary Bioscience from the University of Glasgow and a MSc in Investment and Finance from the University of Strathclyde. Brendan is a Chartered Wealth Manager and also a Chartered Member of the Chartered Institute for Securities & Investment.
Angela Smith

Angela has over twenty-five years of investment experience. She joined Speirs & Jeffrey in 2014 and arrived at Rathbones in July 2019 following the integration of S&J. Angela started her investment career working as an investment manager for both Greig Middleton and Smith & Williamson.
Angela manages a wide range of private client portfolios including pension and offshore bond investments. In addition, she invests for a number of institutional portfolios including trusts and charities.

Prior to joining Saunderson House in 2017, Aidan worked for a London-based mortgage and protection broker, which sparked his passion for helping people with their personal finances.

Having started his career in New York he went on to spend over a decade at Investec Wealth & Investment before joining Rathbones in 2023.
Robert Sears

Robert joined Rathbones in 2026 as Chief Investment Officer and is a member of the Group Executive Committee. He is responsible for leading the ongoing development of a world-class investment strategy and process at Rathbones, overseeing the entire investment lifecycle, including asset allocation, investment research, portfolio construction, and risk management, to ensure the delivery of superior, scalable outcomes for clients.
