Ivo Herries

Ivo joined Rathbones in 2022 as an Investment Manager, having previously been at Cazenove Capital for nine years. He specialises in complex clients, coordinating investments across a number of different structures and tax restrictions. Ivo assists the team in managing over £1.6bn in assets for private clients, charities and trusts.Ivo is a Chartered Member of the Chartered Institute of Securities and Investment (CISI) and holds a BSc (Hons) in Biological Sciences from the University of Edinburgh.
Julian Rathbone

Julian joined Rathbones Investment Management in 1997 and now heads up the Northern Region as a whole. Having qualified as a chartered accountant with PWC in 1997, Julian has around 30 years’ experience in the financial industry. He is a chartered wealth manager and a chartered fellow of the Chartered Institute for Securities and Investment and has a wealth of experience in Charities, Trusts, Private Clients and Pension Funds. He is also a trustee of several charitable trusts.
Craig Brown

Craig joined Rathbones in November 2018, bringing 15 years’ financial services experience, including time with Barclays Wealth & Investment Management, and Citibank. Directly prior to joining Rathbones, Craig was a multi-asset portfolio manager at Beckett Asset Management, constructing a range of portfolios for discretionary clients. He is a Chartered Member of the Chartered Institute for Securities and Investment.
David McSorley

David joined the professional funds department of Simon & Coates (S&C) Private Clients division in 1984. S&C was taken over by Chase Manhattan at the time of Big Bang in 1986 and when Chase exited securities in 1989, the professional funds team joined Tilney. In 2007 Tilney was sold to Deutsche Bank (DB) and David and his immediate colleagues eventually transferred to Rathbones in June 2014.
Alastair Hunt

Alastair is an investment director and Chartered Fellow of the Chartered Institute for Securities & Investment. He manages portfolios for a wide range of clients including private individuals, trusts and charities. Alastair graduated from Durham University with an honours degree in Engineering. His financial career began at KPMG and Blackadders Wealth Management before joining Speirs & Jeffrey in 2004. Speirs & Jeffrey was fully integrated with Rathbones in July 2019.

Nicholas Lawson

Nicholas works alongside Robert Hughes-Penney in the management of private client, charitable and institutional portfolios, having joined Rathbones in 2019 from investment manager and corporate broker WH Ireland. He read History at King’s College, London and graduated with a first class honours degree in 2017. He has passed the Chartered Wealth Manager qualification and the Investment Management Certificate. He is a CFA Level II candidate.
Lizzie Enever

Lizzie joined Rathbones in 2019 having previously worked at Seven Investment Management as a private client assistant relationship manager for just under four years.
She has nearly ten years’ experience in back office/operation asset transfers and front office roles with Tilney Bestinvest and Octopus Investments.
Alex Dow

Alex is an investment director, he has a joint honours degree in Politics, Philosophy and Economics from UEA. Alex is a Chartered Fellow of the Chartered Institute for Securities and Investments, holding the Diploma, and is also a Chartered Financial Analyst charterholder.
Prior to joining Rathbones in December 2007, Alex worked at HSBC Investments (formerly James Capel) for eight years managing investment portfolios for charities and private clients. At HSBC Alex was a member of the UK Stock Committee and specifically covered the engineering, aerospace and defence sectors.
Lily Brooker

Lily joined Rathbones in 2020 as a client service executive having previously worked in a similar role at Brewin Dolphin for two years and formerly Brooks Macdonald.
Lily is a Member of the Chartered Institute for Securities & Investment. She is a holder of the CISI Investment Operations Certificate and is currently studying towards the CISI Investment Advice Diploma.
Christopher James

Christopher is an investment director graduating from Edinburgh University in 1987. He has worked in private client investment management for over 16 years, beginning his career with Foster and Braithwaite before moving to Flemings. Christopher joined Rathbones in 2001. He is a Fellow of the Chartered Institute for Securities and Investment.
Nicholas Taylor-Young

Nicholas joined Rathbones in 2011 and, after an period working alongside other managers, he is now part of a larger team headed by Tim Hubbard.
He graduated from Cambridge with an MA in Natural Sciences and started working life at Price Waterhouse, before moving to James Capel in 1986 and Smith & Williamson until 1995. He then moved to Taylor Young Investment Management Ltd (TYIM), a firm started by his father in 1986.
