Rowland began his investment career in 1997 at Fleming Private Asset Management (subsequently acquired by JP Morgan Chase) where he built up a solid grounding in equity research before becoming a private client portfolio manager. In 2001, he joined HSBC Investment Management, where he was made a director and ultimately responsible for a team managing over £200m of assets.
Rowland moved to PSigma Investment Management as an investment director in 2005, making a significant contribution to the firm’s expansion during his six years managing private client, trust and SIPP portfolios. He joined the Liverpool office of Rathbones in January 2012 as an investment director.
Rowland graduated from Newcastle University in 1997 with 2:1 BSc (Hons) degree in Rural & Environmental Economics. Professional qualifications include the SFA Registered Person’s Certificate (1998) and the Securities Institute Diploma (2000). In 2001 he was made a Chartered Fellow of the Chartered Institute for Securities and Investment. In 2008 and 2009, he received nominations at the Spear’s Wealth Management Awards in the category ‘Future Leader in Wealth Management’.
At Rathbones, Rowland manages discretionary portfolios for private clients, including SIPPs, trusts and offshore bonds. He is also a member of the Financial Adviser Specialist Group.
