Alex is a director of tax and trusts at Rathbones and has been advising private clients and business owners for 30 years. He specialises in providing family office services for wealthy clients including advice to family trusts and charities and tax planning advice to individuals. 

Alex is a Chartered Tax Advisor and member of the Society of Estate Practitioners. Currently a board member of a Housing Association, Alex has sat on city regeneration boards and has extensive experience as acting as trustee of private trusts and charities.

Alex is an investment director, his main focus is in managing assets for the not for profit, pension and corporate sector with a bias towards structuring segregated asset portfolios. He has particular expertise in corporate debt and equities, and where possible has a preference for direct investment of these asset classes. He chairs the Charity Asset Allocation and Stock Committee and also sits on the UK Equity and Fixed Income Committee for the Investment Management division of Rathbones.
Alex is Chartered Fellow of the Securities Institute and holds the Securities Institute Diploma, having qualified in 1989. Prior to joining Rathbones in 2008, he spent 20 years at HSBC Global Asset Management (formerly James Capel) where he was responsible for developing and leading the successful Charity division.

Alex joined Saunderson House (SHL) in 2015 as part of the graduate trainee programme and is now a Chartered Financial Planner and part of Rathbones Financial Planning following the acquisition of SHL in October 2021. He enjoys working with clients to help them determine and prioritise their financial goals and put in place a robust plan to achieve them.  This covers those accumulating wealth in the earlier stages of their journey, through to retired individuals who require assistance with ensuring that they can sustain their standard of living for their lifetimes.  Outside of work, Alex is an avid sports fan and enjoys skiing as well as playing football and golf.  He also enjoys travelling to and exploring new places and cultures.

Alex is an investment manager based in the London office. He works as part of a wider team of six investment professionals providing bespoke investment solutions for a wide range of clients and helping them to achieve their objectives. He also works closely in tandem with intermediaries, complementing their advice on matters such as wealth structuring, tax efficiency, and/or intergenerational planning.

Having started his career as Research Analyst at a boutique Asset Management firm, Alex now also heads up the team’s research into defensive Structured Products and Global Equities, working closely with the firm’s research analysts and strategists. Alex joined Rathbones in 2023, having worked at Investec Wealth & Investment for over six years, and is a Chartered Member of the CISI.

He joined Rathbones in 2019 and has significant knowledge and experience in providing the advice and direction which enables clients to meet their financial goals.

Alex helps on a broad range of areas including investment structuring, wealth preservation, retirement planning and legacy planning.

Previously, Alex managed the financial planning team at Kleinwort Benson and was awarded “Best Wealth Planning Team” at the WealthBriefing European Awards, 2017.

Alexandra is the manager of the Rathbone UK Opportunities Fund. She was appointed co-manager in June 2014 and named sole manager in August 2017. Previously she was assistant fund manager on the Rathbone Global Opportunities Fund.

Alexandra joined Rathbones in January 2007 as an equity analyst, having graduated from the University of Durham (University College) with a BA Hons in Economics. Alexandra is a Chartered Financial Analyst (CFA) charterholder and holds the Investment Management Certificate. She sits on the Rathbones Asset Management Responsible Investment Committee.
