Sally-Ann Gallier

Sally-Ann is an investment manager with over 14 years experience and manages a variety of bespoke investment portfolios on behalf of private clients, including SIPPs, offshore bonds, charities and trusts. Sally-Ann also works closely with a range of national and Midlands based firms of intermediaries including solicitors, accountants and independent financial advisors.

In 2002, she completed the Securities Institute Diploma and is a Chartered Fellow of the Chartered Institute of Securities and Investment. Before joining Rathbones in April 2008, Sally-Ann initially started her career in the banking sector and moved in 1997 to Albert E Sharp, subsequently acquired by Barclays Wealth, where she progressed to associate director.

Sam Tisbury

Sam completed his Diploma in Financial Planning in May 2017 and is now working towards Chartered Financial Planning status. He has worked in Financial Services for over 10 years and has worked for a number of financial institutions, including Saunderson House, Tilney and Suffolk Life.

Sam specialises in cash flow planning and assists with client meetings and the associated tasks as well as drafting certain pieces of advice.

Samantha Boyd

Samantha joined Rathbones, London, in September 2014 as an investment director, having previously been a private clients and charities director at Jupiter Asset Management for over thirteen years.  Samantha started her career at Lazard Asset Management.  Throughout her career she has looked after large family groups and both public and private charities.  She specialises in succession planning for large family groups and divorce.

Samantha has a degree in French and Management Studies from Reading University where she also spent one year at l’IAE de Poitiers studying for a MBA.

Sammy is co-manager on the Rathbone Global Opportunities Fund. He joined Rathbones in July 2014 from JP Morgan Cazenove, where he worked for 14 years in Pan-European Equity Sales providing both primary and secondary advice to Hedge Funds, Institutional and Private clients. Sammy is a graduate of both Edinburgh and Cambridge University where he completed an MA in 2001.

Sanjiv started his career at Morgan Grenfell Asset Management (later Deutsche Asset Management) in 1996 where he was an investment manager and equity research analyst. In 2006 he joined Alliance Bernstein to focus on equity research for mid-cap companies and later moved to Investec Wealth & Investment.

Sanjiv graduated from Oxford University with a degree in Philosophy, Politics and Economics and has passed the Institute of Investment Management and Research (IIMR) exams.

Sarah Owen-Jones

Sarah is chief risk officer and joined Rathbones in March 2015.  She worked for NatWest and RBS group for over 30 years, including 13 years at Coutts. 

Sarah’s career turned to risk management in the 1990s and she worked in Switzerland for 3 years as the chief risk officer for Coutts’ international private banking business.  She moved to the Non Core division of RBS in 2010 and most recently provided risk oversight of RBS’ transformation programme. 

Sarah has an MBA with a dissertation on operational risk management and she is a member of the Institute of Risk Management. She joined the Group Executive Committee in July 2015.

Sarah works in our Cambridge office assisting Mark Winchester, Simon Whitmore and Christopher Day to look after the non-investment needs of their clients. She joined Rathbones in June 2013 after taking time off to raise her family.  Sarah commenced her career in financial services with State Street Global Advisors before moving to the corporate broking team at Deutsche Bank where she specialised in looking after investment trust clients.  She then spent four years at Collins Stewart in the corporate finance team, again specialising in investment trust clients.

Sarah graduated from the University of Birmingham with a first class degree in Money, Banking & Finance with French and spent a year studying the master’s course in International Economics & Finance at the University of Bordeaux. Sarah became a Chartered Financial Analyst (CFA) charterholder in September 2000.

Sarah is regional director of the Exeter office, She continues to manage a wide variety of investment portfolios  and is a Fellow of the Chartered Institute for Securities and Investment.

Sarah started her career at Cazenove in the City in 1985.  In 1990, she moved down to Devon and joined West Country Stockbroker Rowan Dartington at its inception. Over the next 20 years, she specialised in managing bespoke investment portfolios for private clients, trusts and charities. In 1996 she was made a main board director of Rowan Dartington with responsibility for private clients.  Sarah joined Rathbones in 2010.

Sarra Hamizi

Sarra is a credit analyst who joined Rathbones in July 2015. She is responsible for providing in-depth credit analysis for the Fixed Income Committee and to investment managers at Rathbones. Sarra covers names from different sectors including financials and corporates but predominantly US banks and European corporates. Prior to joining Rathbones, Sarra completed a summer internship with Goldman Sachs in the Syndicated Bank Loan division within the operations department.

Sarra graduated from Birmingham University with a Bachelor of Business Management in 2015. She has also achieved a master’s degree in Banking and International Finance with Merit in 2016 from Cass Business School. Sarra holds the Investment Management Certificate and is currently a CFA level 1 candidate (Chartered Financial Analyst).

Scott Dickson

Scott is an investment director and manages portfolios for a wide range of clients. Like many, Scott is a very experienced member of the team and has experienced a number of market cycles and crises throughout his time with Speirs & Jeffrey.

He joined Speirs & Jeffrey in 1987 and is a Chartered Fellow of the Chartered Institute for Securities & Investment. Speirs & Jeffrey was fully integrated with Rathbones in July 2019.

Sean Curran

Sean joined Rathbones in 2015 and oversees the Research Support function. Sean is also responsible for the management and implementation of the investment research communications strategy.

Previously, Sean worked for Dow Jones as a senior associate covering the private markets. During his time there, he produced an array of research content for clients and for public consumption, focusing principally on private equity and venture capital investment activity in the U.S., EMEA and China.

Sean received an honours degree in European Studies with Spanish from the University of Portsmouth, which included a five month overseas study placement at the University of Salamanca.

Shelly Patel

Shelly manages the Investor Relations function at Rathbone Brothers Plc.  She started her career in Toronto working for TD Securities before moving to the UK to join the London Stock Exchange where she held various roles that allowed her to build her experience of listing rules and annual Plc practices. She then joined the Investor Relations practice of Citigate Dewe Rogerson where she worked with a number of large UK and European listed clients across a range of industries executing their investor relations programmes.

Shelly holds a MSc in Managerial Economics and Strategy from the London School of Economics and a BA from The Richard Ivey School of Business. 

Simon Dewar

Simon is a regional director and the head of office for Edinburgh. He has managed investments for private individuals, trusts, pension funds and charities for 17 years and is a Chartered Fellow of the Chartered Institute for Securities and Investments.

Simon began his investment career with Albert E. Sharp in 2001. After completing his training, he moved back north of the border to work at Brewin Dolphin in Edinburgh, before joining Rathbones in 2006. Simon looks after some £525m of client funds and chairs the groups Self Invested Personal Pension Committee. The other investment directors on his team are John Gunn, Evangelos Assimakos and Keith Mackenzie. They are supported by investment manager, Stephen MacGowan and client service executive Sarah Masterton-Hale.

Simon is an investment director and a Chartered Member of the Chartered Institute for Securities & Investment.

He is responsible for managing investment portfolios on behalf of private clients, charities, trusts, and pension funds.  Simon works closely with independent financial advisers in the South West to provide a quality service for their clients.

He joined in June 2010 from Rowan Dartington to assist with the expansion of Rathbones into the West Country.

Simon is an investment director, graduating from Newcastle University in 2005 with an honours degree in Geography.

He joined Rathbones as a graduate in November 2005, and now manages investments for a range of private client portfolios, trusts and pension funds, and works in alongside Christopher Buzzard.

Simon is a Chartered Fellow of the Chartered Institute for Securities and Investment and sits on the Managed Funds Committee with a focus on investment trusts, specifically those investing in emerging markets and Asia.  He is also a member of the Stewardship Committee, which coordinates the company’s voting policy and corporate interaction with investee companies.

Simon is an investment director and  a member of the Institute of Chartered Accountants in England and Wales (ICAEW), a  Chartered Fellow of the Chartered Institute for Securities and Investment (CISI) and an IMC member of the CFA Society of the UK.

Simon joined Rathbones in April 2006 as a result of the acquisition of Ely Fund Managers (Part of the Dexia Group). Simon qualified as a Chartered Accountant with Binder Hamlyn in 1983 since when he has chalked up over 25 years stock-market experience in the City and overseas working for a number of leading UK and international stockbrokers before joining Ely Fund Managers in 2002.

Simon is an investment director who specialises in the management of private client portfolios, trusts, pensions and charities and is a Chartered Fellow of the Chartered Institute of Securities and Investment. Simon has worked in the financial industry since his graduation in 1991 and he was directly involved in opening the Cambridge office for Rathbones in 2001.

Siyuan Lin

Siyuan joined Rathbones in 2013 as global equity analyst specializing in overseas equity research. She contributes stock ideas to funds under Rathbones Unit Trust Management and Rathbones’ Overseas Equity Committee. Prior to Rathbones, she worked in Martin Currie’s Greater China team in Edinburgh for three years, assisting the lead fund manager in equity research and portfolio management.  

Siyuan has a MSc (Distinction) in Finance and Investment from University of Edinburgh and BA in Finance from Shanghai International Studies University. Siyuan is a Chartered Financial Analyst (CFA) charterholder and also holds the Investment Management Certificate (IMC).

Sophie Boyd-Wallis

Sophie is responsible for internal communications at Rathbone Brothers plc and media relations for Rathbone Investment Management. With a PR agency background, she has also worked in-house at global organisations including Freshfields Bruckhaus Deringer, White & Case and Alstom. She graduated from the University of Bath with a degree in International Management and French and was a Deloitte Scholar.

Sophie Hughes supports the team with all non-investment related tasks. Prior to joining Rathbones in August 2014, she worked at Barclays Bank in Pensions for 10 years followed by a year working in New Zealand. She has a degree in Human Resource Management.

Stephanie Graham

Stephanie joined Speirs & Jeffrey in early 2011 and is an investment director.  Holding the Chartered Wealth Manager and CISI Diploma qualifications, she is a Chartered Fellow of the Chartered Institute for Securities & Investment. Within Speirs & Jeffrey, she focuses on providing discretionary management services to individuals, families, trusts and charities.

Stephanie is a qualified solicitor and notary public. She graduated from the University of Edinburgh with an honours degree in Law in 2004, having spent a year of her degree course at the University of Texas. She practised law at Brodies LLP for a number of years, including a secondment to the Royal Bank of Scotland. Deciding on a move to the financial services industry, she took an investment banking role at Barclays Capital before joining Speirs & Jeffrey to focus on working with private clients. Speirs & Jeffrey was fully integrated with Rathbones in July 2019.

Stephen Bennett

Stephen is an investment manager,  assisting in the management of private client, company and charity investment portfolios and is also a member of Rathbones’ Collectives Research Committee with responsibility for UK collective fund research.  Stephen graduated from Exeter University in 2006 with a master's degree in Finance and Investment and is a Chartered Member of the Chartered Institute for Securities and Investment. 

Following a short career as a professional rugby player with Exeter Chiefs, Stephen started as a trainee portfolio manager with Charles Stanley in 2008. He joined Rathbones in 2010.

Stephen is an investment director and works closely with Russell Crichton. After graduating from Heriot-Watt University with an honours degree in Economics, he completed postgraduate studies in investment analysis at Stirling University. Prior to joining Speirs & Jeffrey in January 2013, Stephen was an investment director at Scottish Widows Investment Management and before that an investment manager at Britannic (now Standard Life) Asset Management.

Stephen has over 21 years’ experience of global markets and has managed both retail and institutional portfolios.  Stephen is a member of the Chartered Financial Analysts Society of the UK and a Chartered Fellow of The Chartered Institute for Securities & Investment. Speirs & Jeffrey was fully integrated with Rathbones in July 2019.

Stephen is deputy regional manager of the Edinburgh office.  He specialises in the management of investments for private clients, trusts, and personal pension funds.

Prior to joining Rathbones, he spent 15 years with Cornelian Asset Managers where he contributed to the early development of this smaller independent firm.  He trained with ABN AMRO Asset Management where he joined as a graduate from the University of Edinburgh in 1996. 

He has long experience of working with financial advisers and works with the Rathbones IFA Investment Committee as well as chairing the Edinburgh Investment Committee. He is also interested in investment technology and systems and sits on the Front Office IT Committee. 

Stephen is an Associate of the Society of Investment Professionals and a member of Chartered Institute for Securities and Investment.

Stephen is an investment manager, providing discretionary investment management services for private clients, pension funds, charities and trusts.

He is an alumnus of the University of Cambridge, where he studied at Pembroke College. Stephen holds an MBA and BSc (Hons) in Economics. He is a Chartered Financial Analyst (CFA) charterholder, Chartered Fellow of the Chartered Institute for Securities & Investment and an Affiliate Member of the Society of Trust and Estate Practitioners (STEP).

Stephen has helped to run Rathbones' financial awareness programme - a national initiative which aims to increase the financial awareness of young individuals. As part of this programme, he speaks to over 1,000 sixth form pupils each year and hosts financial workshops in schools. A select number of students wishing to pursue a career in finance have also been offered work placement opportunities.

Steve is a senior tax manager, joining Rathbones in 1984 as a tax senior specialising in personal and trust tax compliance. Prior to joining Rathbones, he started work as a trainee tax assistant with accountancy firm Pannell Kerr Forster in 1973.

Steve joined Rathbones in 2014 and has been responsible for developing a substantial client base, managing a variety of private client portfolios, trusts and pension funds.

He started his career at Williams de Broë (now Investec) in 2011 assisting a team of three investment directors. During this time he completed the Investment Advice Diploma.

He is a Chartered Member of the Chartered Institute for Securities & Investment, completing the CISI Masters in 2016.

Steven is an investment manager.  Prior to joining Rathbones in July 2010, he spent two years with HBOS’s Portfolio Management Service. He holds an honours degree in Accounting as well as the Investment Advice Diploma (IAD), the Private Client Investment Advice & Management Certificate (PCIAM), and a masters in Wealth Management.  Steven is an Associate of the Chartered Institute for Securities & Investment (ACSI).

Stuart is a Fixed Income Research Analyst who joined Rathbones in September 2017 having gained three years industry experience at Brown Shipley. He provides in-depth coverage on sovereign bonds and runs a proprietary credit valuation model to help identify investment opportunities.

Stuart graduated from Bath University with a first-class Bachelor’s degree in Mathematics. He is a CFA charterholder and also holds the CISI Chartered Wealth Manager qualification, having won the CISI Financial Markets & CISI Chartered Wealth Manager Qualification awards at the annual CISI awards in 2016 & 2017 respectively. He was named in the 2018 Citywire Top 30 under 30 investment management awards.

Stuart Furzer

Having joined Rathbones in 2011, Stuart is an investment manager and works alongside Bob Szechenyi, Richard Lanyon, Randolph Churchill and David Bassett. The desk manages in excess of £850m.

He is a Chartered Member of the Institute for Securities and Investment and manages discretionary private client investment portfolios, together with a number of charities, personal pension schemes, offshore bonds and family trusts.

Stuart is a member of the international team which manages multi-currency portfolios for clients with international advisers and is responsible for the research, selection and ongoing monitoring of bespoke investment solutions. 

In 2017 the team was named ‘Best International Discretionary Fund Manager’ at the annual International Investment awards.
