Richard Dawson

Richard is the regional director for Rathbones’ Kendal office; along with the Kendal team, Richard manages funds on behalf of private clients, pension funds, charities and trusts. 

Richard moved to the Lake District to join Rathbones in 2002, having trained and worked in London and has been investing on behalf of his clients for close to 25 years.

With a degree in Business Studies, Richard is also a Fellow of the Chartered Institute for Securities and Investment. Richard is married with two daughters, he enjoys many outdoor activities and is also a governor of a local community school.

Richard is a client director at Rathbone Investment Management International. He is primarily responsible for the growth of the overseas private client base with an emphasis on Asia. Richard is a Fellow of the Chartered Institute for Securities and Investment, holds a Diploma in Trust and Estate Practice and has two degrees in Financial Services. Richard joined Rathbones in September 2018 and has 20 years’ experience in financial services in both Jersey and Hong Kong, most recently with HSBC and Brooks Macdonald.

Richard started his career at W.I Carr which later became part of Investec Wealth & Investment. His time there included 15 years as an investment manager. He has subsequently worked for BNP Paribas, Williams de Broë and Investec focussing on investment process design and risk management.

Richard joined Rathbones as head of investment process and risk in September 2014 and is a member of the Investment Executive. Richard graduated from Durham University with a degree in Psychology and has an MBA from Cranfield School of Management.

Richard is a graduate of the London School of Economics and has been working within the financial services industry for ten years. Since joining Rathbones in January 2009 he has successfully obtained Chartered status and is now a Fellow of the Personal Finance Society.  Richard provides holistic financial planning to high net worth clients and has extensive knowledge and experience in advising clients on: their pensions and meeting specific retirement objectives; structuring investments to maximise tax efficiency; protecting themselves and their families in the event of death or long-term illness; estate planning and the mitigation of inheritance tax.

Richard has responsibility for investment management special projects including recruitment. He also manages a large number of client portfolios. He joined the Group Executive Committee in July 2015. 

Robert Crawshaw

Robert is an investment director at Rathbones having joined in 2013 and manages a broad range of private client portfolios, charities and self-invested pension schemes. He was previously associate director at Brewin Dolphin and has over 15 years investment experience. He is a Fellow of the Chartered Institute of Securities and Investment and holds a degree in Economics from Exeter University.

Robert is a member of Rathbones’ International Investment Committee working in partnership with specialist financial advisors across Europe to provide investment management services to non-UK resident clients. In addition, he is a member of the Collectives Investment Funds Committee which has the responsibility of research and selection of third party funds for the group. He is a regular contributor within the national press and has previously consulted with the financial services regulator and the government on industry-related issues. Robert lives in West London with his wife and three children.

Robert joins us as an investment director from Taylor Young Investment Management Ltd and manages a range of private client, trust, charity and SIPP portfolios.

Robert began his career at Scrimgeour Kemp-Gee Ltd in 1982 before moving to Greig Middleton in 1991 and subsequently joining Taylor Young Investment Management Ltd in 2004. Robert is a Chartered Member of the Chartered Institute for Securities & Investment.

Robert is an investment director and he has 25 years experience managing portfolios for wealthy private clients, trusts, pensions and charities.

After University, RMA Sandhurst and serving as an Army Officer for four years, Robert joined the City stockbrokers Laurence Keen that was acquired by Rathbones in 1995. He is qualified as a Chartered Wealth Manager and is a Chartered Fellow of the Chartered Institute of Securities and Investment.  Robert has had a number of senior roles within the business and is currently deputy head of the London office.

Robert is an Alderman of the City of London and on the Court of the Haberdashers’ Company.  He is also a non-executive director of the social impact investment company, Investing for Good.

Robert joined Rathbones in 2019 as an investment manager. He gained multiple years’ experience managing multi-asset portfolios for ultra-high net worth clients at Hassium Asset Management LLP as a portfolio manager. Robert has also worked at Invesco Perpetual and Oil Brokerage. He has a degree in Economics and Geography from Loughborough University, is a CFA charterholder and an Associate Member of the Chartered Institute for Securities and Investments.

Bob is an investment director having joined Rathbones in October 2000. He is a Fellow of the Chartered Institute for Securities and Investment and runs a team that manages portfolios for high-net-worth individuals, charities, personal pension schemes, offshore bonds and family trusts. In 2019 he was shortlisted in the ‘Future Leader in Private Client’ category at Spear’s Wealth Management Awards.

In 2015 Bob helped launch Rathbones’ international team which manages Sterling, Euro and Dollar portfolios for clients of international advisers; the team was named Best International Discretionary Fund Manager at the annual International Investment Awards in 2017, 2018 and 2019. 

Bob is a member of the Rathbones Collective Funds Investment Committee and has overall responsibility for the research, selection and ongoing monitoring of structured products for the group. Furthermore, he is responsible for communicating Rathbones' investment views to the media and is regularly quoted in the national press.

Robert joined Rathbones in 2017 as an investment director and has over 15 years of investment management experience. He began his career in 2000, working for a number of regional stockbrokers before spending 13 years at Brown Shipley in their Manchester office.

Rob is a Chartered Fellow of the Chartered Institute for Securities and Investment, a Chartered Wealth Manager and holds an honours degree in Accounting.

At Rathbones, Rob is responsible for managing multi-asset investment portfolios for  private individuals, trustees, and pension funds. He places the utmost importance on building close relationships with his clients and delivering the highest quality of service.

 

Robert Walker

Robert joined Rathbones in 2014 as an investment director. He started his investment career over 20 years ago at Coutts & Co as a portfolio manager in their investment department after graduating from Newcastle University with a degree in Economics and Business Management in 1994.

After gaining his investment qualifications at Coutts he then moved to the Private Client division of Invesco Perpetual as investment director and was responsible for the integration of Perpetual’s Private Client division, focussing on the management of both UK and international private client portfolios. In 2004, Invesco Perpetual sold their Private Client division to Singer & Friedlander and, in 2008, Robert joined Jupiter Asset Management with the same team of individuals he has worked with since 1995.

Finally, Jupiter sold their Private Client division to Rathbones in 2014, where Robert retains his specialism of managing investment portfolios for high net worth individuals, trusts, charities and pension funds, both in the UK and for international “ex-pats” by working in partnership with specialist financial advisors in Europe. He is a Chartered Fellow of the Securities Institute.

Rollo Duckworth

Rollo is an investment director, looking after private clients, family trusts, and small pensions and charities. He is a Chartered Member of the Chartered Institute for Securities and Investment and holds the Investment Advice Certificate.

Rollo joined Rathbones in 2006, from Ely Fund Managers where he had been managing director since 1999.

Rosie Bezant

Rosie is an investment sales executive, working on developing relationships with the third-party market, including fund platforms, wraps, and life companies, as well as the underlying IFA community, which now increasingly rely on these platforms. Her focus is on the South.

Rosie joined Rathbones in July 2008, having graduated with a BA Hons from Sussex University.

Rosie joined Rathbone Greenbank in June 2015. She has a BSc (Hons) in Mathematics from Manchester University.  She has been awarded the CISI level 4 Investment Advice Diploma and is an Associate Member of the Chartered Institute for Securities & Investment. 

Ross Bridger

Ross began his career in operations at Lifetime Group and subsequently Singer & Friedlander. He then spent almost six years with Jupiter Asset Management as a portfolio manager before joining Rathbones in September 2014.

Ross graduated from Cambridge University with a master's degree in Natural Sciences and is a Chartered Wealth Manager and Chartered Member of the CISI (Chartered Institute for Securities & Investment). He now sits on the CISI examination panel for the Financial Markets module of the Chartered Wealth Manager qualification (formerly known as CISI Masters in Wealth Management).

Rowland began his investment career in 1997 at Fleming Private Asset Management (subsequently acquired by JP Morgan Chase) where he built up a solid grounding in equity research before becoming a private client portfolio manager. In 2001, he joined HSBC Investment Management, where he was made a director and ultimately responsible for a team managing over £200m of assets.

Rowland moved to PSigma Investment Management as an investment director in 2005, making a significant contribution to the firm’s expansion during his six years managing private client, trust and SIPP portfolios. He joined the Liverpool office of Rathbones in January 2012 as an investment director.

Rowland graduated from Newcastle University in 1997 with 2:1 BSc (Hons) degree in Rural & Environmental Economics. Professional qualifications include the SFA Registered Person’s Certificate (1998) and the Securities Institute Diploma (2000).  In 2001 he was made a Chartered Fellow of the Chartered Institute for Securities and Investment.  In 2008 and 2009, he received nominations at the Spear’s Wealth Management Awards in the category ‘Future Leader in Wealth Management’.

At Rathbones, Rowland manages discretionary portfolios for private clients, including SIPPs, trusts and offshore bonds.  He is also a member of the Financial Adviser Specialist Group.

Rupert Baron

Rupert is an investment director of Rathbone Investment Management and head of the London office. He manages a broad range of investment mandates including those for, individuals, trusts, pension funds (SIPPs and SSAS), charities and local authorities.

Rupert holds an honours degree in Economics, is an alumnus of INSEAD and is a Chartered Fellow of the Chartered Institute for Securities & Investment.

He has over 34 years’ experience within the private client investment industry.  He joined the Group Executive Committee in July 2015 and heads our London investment team.

 

Rupert Heggs

Rupert has over 30 years’ investment management experience. He specialises in the management of domestic, international private client and charitable portfolios. He is responsible for the investment management of personal injury and Court of Protection portfolios. He joined Rathbones in 2001 having previously been a director at Flemings, where he started his City career in 1987.

He is a member of Rathbones International Stock Selection and Corporate Governance and Stewardship Committees.

Rupert is a Chartered Fellow of the Chartered Institute for Securities and Investment and holds an MBA in International Management of Financial Services.

Rupert Pepper

Rupert is a director – corporate development and is part of the team responsible for coordinating the M & A activities for the Group and leading Group-wide strategic projects.

Prior to joining Rathbones in March 2015, Rupert spent 15 years in corporate finance at Hawkpoint Partners and subsequently Canaccord Genuity, where he advised a wide variety of financial services companies on M&A and financing transactions, with a particular focus on the investment management and private banking sectors. He is a Chartered Fellow of the Securities Institute.

Russell Crichton

Russell is responsible for Rathbones’ investment management business in Scotland. Prior to this, he was chief executive of Speirs & Jeffrey which was fully integrated with Rathbones in July 2019. Aside from these responsibilities he manages portfolios for charities, families and trusts.

After graduating from the University of Wales in Cardiff with a degree in Economics, Russell worked in the institutional fund management industry for ten years. He was a fund manager with Murray Johnstone and then Norwich Union (Aviva) before switching to private client work shortly after joining Speirs & Jeffrey in 1997. He became chief executive of Speirs & Jeffrey in 2011 and head of Rathbones in Scotland in August 2018. Speirs & Jeffrey was fully integrated with Rathbones in July 2019.

Sachin Amin

Sachin joined Speirs & Jeffrey in 2015 having previously worked as an investment manager in the City of London.  He graduated from Imperial College London with a masters in Electrical and Electronic Engineering and holds the CISI Chartered Wealth Management qualification.  Sachin is a Chartered Fellow of the Chartered Institute for Securities & Investment.

Sachin works closely with Tom Brown, managing portfolios for a wide range of private clients, charities and trusts. Speirs & Jeffrey was fully integrated with Rathbones in July 2019.

Sally-Ann Gallier

Sally-Ann is an investment manager with over 14 years experience and manages a variety of bespoke investment portfolios on behalf of private clients, including SIPPs, offshore bonds, charities and trusts. Sally-Ann also works closely with a range of national and Midlands based firms of intermediaries including solicitors, accountants and independent financial advisors.

In 2002, she completed the Securities Institute Diploma and is a Chartered Fellow of the Chartered Institute of Securities and Investment. Before joining Rathbones in April 2008, Sally-Ann initially started her career in the banking sector and moved in 1997 to Albert E Sharp, subsequently acquired by Barclays Wealth, where she progressed to associate director.

Samantha Boyd

Samantha joined Rathbones, London, in September 2014 as an investment director, having previously been a private clients and charities director at Jupiter Asset Management for over thirteen years.  Samantha started her career at Lazard Asset Management.  Throughout her career she has looked after large family groups and both public and private charities.  She specialises in succession planning for large family groups and divorce.

Samantha has a degree in French and Management Studies from Reading University where she also spent one year at l’IAE de Poitiers studying for a MBA.

Sammy is co-manager on the Rathbone Global Opportunities Fund. He joined Rathbones in July 2014 from JP Morgan Cazenove, where he worked for 14 years in Pan-European Equity Sales providing both primary and secondary advice to hedge funds, institutional and private clients. Sammy is a graduate of both Edinburgh and Cambridge University where he completed an MA in 2001.

Sanjiv started his career at Morgan Grenfell Asset Management (later Deutsche Asset Management) in 1996 where he was an investment manager and equity research analyst. In 2006 he joined Alliance Bernstein to focus on equity research for mid-cap companies and later moved to Investec Wealth & Investment.

Sanjiv graduated from Oxford University with a degree in Philosophy, Politics and Economics and has passed the Institute of Investment Management and Research (IIMR) exams.

Sarah joined Rathbones in July 2015 having previously worked for Quilter Cheviot as an investment administrator. She started her administrative career in 2004 in various industries and has over a decade of investment admin experience.

Sarah lives in Kent with her partner and young daughter. In her spare time she is a keen photographer having studied photography and art in Leicester.

Sarah is chief risk officer and joined Rathbones in March 2015.  She worked for NatWest and RBS group for over 30 years, including 13 years at Coutts. 

Sarah’s career turned to risk management in the 1990s and she worked in Switzerland for three years as the chief risk officer for Coutts’ international private banking business.  She moved to the Non Core division of RBS in 2010 and most recently provided risk oversight of RBS’ transformation programme. 

Sarah has an MBA with a dissertation on operational risk management and she is a member of the Institute of Risk Management. She joined the Group Executive Committee in July 2015.

Sarah works in our Cambridge office assisting Mark Winchester, Simon Whitmore and Christopher Day to look after the non-investment needs of their clients. She joined Rathbones in June 2013 after taking time off to raise her family.  Sarah commenced her career in financial services with State Street Global Advisors before moving to the corporate broking team at Deutsche Bank where she specialised in looking after investment trust clients.  She then spent four years at Collins Stewart in the corporate finance team, again specialising in investment trust clients.

Sarah graduated from the University of Birmingham with a first class degree in Money, Banking & Finance with French and spent a year studying the master’s course in International Economics & Finance at the University of Bordeaux. Sarah became a Chartered Financial Analyst (CFA) charterholder in September 2000.

Sarah is regional director of the Exeter office, She continues to manage a wide variety of investment portfolios  and is a Fellow of the Chartered Institute for Securities and Investment.

Sarah started her career at Cazenove in the City in 1985. In 1990, she moved down to Devon and joined West Country Stockbroker Rowan Dartington at its inception. Over the next 20 years, she specialised in managing bespoke investment portfolios for private clients, trusts and charities. In 1996 she was made a main board director of Rowan Dartington with responsibility for private clients.  Sarah joined Rathbones in 2010.
