Tom Flanigan

Tom is a Chartered Financial Planner with 17 years financial service industry experience, nine of which as an Independent Financial Adviser servicing clients with a broad range of individual needs. He joined Rathbones in 2020 and is working towards becoming a Fellow of the Personal Finance Society.

Tom specialises in holistic financial planning including retirement strategies, pension accumulation, tax-efficient investment, estate and inheritance tax planning, and financial protection.

Tom Smyth

Tom is a Chartered Fellow of the Securities and Investment Institute and a Chartered Wealth Manager. He is part of the team that transferred to Rathbones from Deutsche Bank in May 2014 and before Deutsche Bank Tom was a private client manager at Brown Shipley.

As an investment director, Tom manages portfolios for private clients, pension funds, charities and trusts. He holds a MSc in Industrial Relations from Manchester Business School and a BSc in Management Studies from the University of Manchester (UMIST).

Tomas Owen-Jones

Tomas joined Rathbones in 2018 having previously worked for Sanlam Private Wealth. He began his career as a financial planner in 2011, before moving to work as an investment manager in 2012.

Tomas graduated from the University of Liverpool, where he gained his economics degree and Masters in 2010. During his career, Tomas has attained a number of professional qualifications, including Chartered Financial Planner, Chartered Wealth Manager and is a Fellow of the Chartered Institute for Securities and Investment.

Based in the Kendal office, Tomas manages a range of private client, trust, pension and charity portfolios alongside Richard Dawson and David White. Tom lives locally with his wife Danielle and enjoys making the most of having the Lake District on his doorstep, going on hikes as well as other outdoor pursuits.

Tony Milner

Tony is an investment director. He started his career in stock broking with Allied Provincial in 1987 and over a number of years worked in their Leeds, Lymington and Kendal offices before returning to Lymington to join Brewin Dolphin in 1998 where he became a divisional director. He joined Rathbones in September 2012.

Tony specialises in managing portfolios for private individuals, trusts and pension funds and is a Chartered Fellow of the Chartered Institute for Securities and Investment.

Tony returned to Speirs & Jeffrey in 2015 after a seven-year break in his native New Zealand where he worked as a senior investment advisor for Forsyth Barr – New Zealand’s largest investment company. Tony was originally with S&J for 18 years, latterly as an associate director. He was appointed an investment director in May 2017 and manages investment portfolios for a wide range of clients. Speirs & Jeffrey was fully integrated with Rathbones in July 2019.

Tony is a Chartered Fellow of the Chartered Institute for Securities & Investment.

Tony started his stockbroking career in 1986 and has now established 30 plus years’ experience of catering for the investment needs of high net worth individuals and family trusts. He is also a Chartered Wealth Manager and has a Securities Institute Diploma (Regulation and Compliance, Private Client Investment Advice & Fund Management). After joining Neilson Cobbold in Liverpool, a long-established firm in the City, Tony continued his responsibilities to his clients with Rathbones as an qualified investment director in the mid 1990’s and manages beneficial long-term client and intermediary relationships, specialising in providing bespoke investment solutions for self-invested personal pensions (SIPPs)/SSASs, offshore bonds, equity, bond and collective portfolios for private clients, trustees and charities.

Tony is married and lives on the Wirral, Cheshire with two grown-up daughters and pursues his active interests in classic cars, cycling, gardening and DIY.

Tracey Hazell

Tracey is a trust manager, having joined Rathbones in 1997. She works in the London trust department and has a wide range of knowledge from over 20 years’ experience in all areas of private, probate and charity trust work. 

Tracey prides herself on building strong, professional relationships with her clients. She also specialises in charity structures and as a charity trustee herself understands the responsibilities and can assist trustees with their compliance with the Charity Commission.

Trevor Bell

Trevor is an investment director, specialising in investment management for private clients, trusts, charities and personal pension funds (SIPPs). He has a particular interest in researching smaller, dynamic growth companies.

Trevor is a fellow of the Chartered Institute for Securities and Investment. After graduating from university he trained as a Chartered Accountant with Coopers & Lybrand before joining A H Cobbold & Co in 1983. He has therefore worked for Rathbones and its predecessors for over 28 years.

Vanessa Walduck

Vanessa joined Rathbones as an investment director in October 2018.  Vanessa’s primary focus is to provide a highly personalised investment management service for private individuals, their pensions and family trusts.  She is a Chartered Fellow of the Chartered Institute for Securities and Investments.

Vanessa joined the City in 1985 as a blue button on the Stock Exchange trading floor and she has been managing private client assets for 31 years.  Prior to joining Rathbones, Vanessa managed one of the London investment teams at Quilter Cheviot.

Vaughan Rimeur

Vaughan is an investment director for Rathbone Investment Management International and sits on the company’s Investment Committee.  He joined Rathbones in Jersey in January 2008 and manages a range of private client and trust portfolios for local and overseas clients. Vaughan is a Fellow of the Chartered Institute for Securities and Investment.

Vicki graduated from the University of Strathclyde in 2007 with a degree in Mathematics. After spending a couple of years working with a smaller financial firm in Glasgow, she joined Speirs & Jeffrey in April 2010. She was appointed an investment director in January 2018 and works closely with Graham Waddell.

Vicki is a CISI industry specialist and sits on the exam panel for the Private Client Investment Advice and Management exam. In 2011 she was the joint UK prize winner and Scottish prize winner in this exam and in 2012 she was awarded the Scottish CISI Diploma award. Speirs & Jeffrey was fully integrated with Rathbones in July 2019.

Victoria Edgar

Victoria is an assistant investment manager with Rathbone Investment Management International in Jersey. She has over 17 years’ experience in the finance industry, four years of which have been in Jersey in trust and private banking. Victoria joined Rathbones in 2012 having previously worked at Nomura Asset Management in London.  

She is a Chartered Member of the Chartered Institute for Securities and Investment, having obtained the Investment Advice Diploma. Victoria also holds the Investment Management Certificate.

Victoria joined Rathbone Greenbank in 2015 from Barclays where she was senior director for the London Charity team.  From 2007-2010, she was regional investment director for London and the South East responsible for the Gerrard Investment Management business, equating to £2 billion of private client, charity, pension and Court of Protection portfolios. Victoria began her city career with Capel Cure Myers in 1998.

She has over 20 years' experience in providing and managing investment solutions for charity and pension fund trustees. Victoria is a Chartered Fellow of the CISI (FCSI) and an advisor to the Stroke Association Investment Committee, Co-opted Trustee for the Edward Gostling Foundation and a former trustee for the Lankelly Chase Foundation, an early adopter of the UNPRI, latterly chairing the Investment Committee.

Victoria is an assistant investment manager on the charity team at Rathbones. She joined Rathbones in 2008 following completion of her BA (Hons) degree in Business Studies from the University of Liverpool. Prior to joining the charity team in 2016, she was the assistant manager for Performance Measurement.

Victoria is a Chartered Member of the Chartered Institute for Securities and Investments (CISI) having achieved the CISI level 7 Chartered Wealth Manager qualification in 2014.

Victoria is head of sales desk. She works alongside Greg Mullins and Ben Johnson to support the investment sales team engage with the IFA community.

Victoria joined Rathbones in April 2001 from Deutsche Bank and holds the Investment Management Certificate.

Will Kendall

Will is an investment director responsible for managing portfolios for private clients, personal pension funds, trusts and charities. He graduated from Keble College, Oxford in 1996 with an honours degree in Modern History.  His qualifications include the Securities Institute Diploma, and he is a Chartered Member of the Chartered Institute for Securities and Investment. After spending nine years as a professional cricketer with Hampshire County Cricket Club, Will joined Rathbones in 2005.

Will joined Rathbones in 2019 from Aberdeen Standard Capital where he was an associate portfolio manager. He has worked in the industry since 2012 having previously held roles at Lloyds Private Banking, Ashcourt Rowan & Aberdeen Standard.

Will works alongside Adam Joy, managing discretionary investment portfolios on behalf of UK and offshore domiciled individuals, companies and trusts.

He is a CFA Level 3 candidate, holds CFA UK’s Investment Management Certificate and is an Associate of the Chartered Institute for Securities & Investment.

Will Mcintosh-Whyte

Will is a fund manager on the Rathbone Multi-Asset Portfolio Funds, the offshore Luxembourg-based SICAVs, as well as the Rathbones Managed Portfolio Service (MPS), working alongside David Coombs. He joined Rathbones in 2007, having worked previously as a specialist researcher for Theisen Securities. At Rathbones, Will joined the charities team, and was appointed as an investment manager in 2011, running institutional multi-asset mandates. He has been on the multi-asset team since 2015 and is a member of Rathbones’ Fixed Income Funds Committee.

Will graduated from the University of Manchester Institute of Science of Technology with a BSc Hons in Management, and is a CFA charterholder.

Will Roberts

Will graduated from the University of Bristol with a BSc in Economics and Politics. He started his career at BWD Rensburg in Liverpool in 2000 until he left to join UBS in London six years later. After three years in the capital, he returned to Liverpool with Charles Stanley before joining Rathbones.

He is a Fellow of the CISI which gives him FCSI status and he is also a Chartered Wealth Manager. Over his career, he has managed the investments of private clients, trusts and charities within a variety of investment wrappers.

 

Will Thompson

Will joined Rathbones in February 2020 after 11 years with a regional financial planning and accountancy firm where he was a member in the partnership and served as a director of the Trust Corporation.

Having graduated from Kings College, London with a Bachelors in Law in 2006, Will returned home to the West Country and began work in the financial planning profession. Will initially qualified as a Chartered Financial Planner and a Fellow of the Financial Planning Society in 2011 before more recently qualifying as a Trust and Estate Practitioner (TEP) and a member of the Society of Trust and Estate Practitioners (STEP).

With a passion to offer engaging and approachable client care, Will works with clients on a lasting basis providing advice and professional counsel on a broad range of financial planning strategies. In particular Will works on behalf of clients planning for retirement or financial independence and with families considering estate planning and wealth succession.

William joined Rathbones in 2014 and is a Chartered Financial Planner and a member of the Chartered Insurance Institute (CII) responsible for delivering independent financial advice to his clients over a broad range of financial planning. He holds the Advanced Diploma in Financial Planning alongside the Certificate in Discretionary Investment Management and the Certificate in Securities Advice and Dealing.     

William’s aim is to make his clients’ lives easier by helping them structure their finances to provide peace of mind so that they are free to spend more time focusing on the issues in life that matter more to them.

William is a fully qualified financial planner with over 18 years’ experience working in the financial services industry and is a member of the Chartered Insurance Institute (CII). As well as working in a client facing advisory role prior to joining Rathbones, he built up his knowledge of the finance industry while working as an emerging markets equity trader in the City. This has given him deep insight into the issues faced by professional investors and he aims to bring this real-world experience, together with a wide range of expertise and knowledge in building and preserving wealth, to his clients.

He completed his MBA from the University of Oxford and is working to complete his level 6 Chartered qualification this year.

William provides holistic financial planning to private clients, working alongside Rathbone’s investment managers, to help them achieve their financial goals.

William graduated from Manchester University with a 2:1 degree in History and started his career at Douglas Deakin Young (now part of Duncan Lawrie) in 2000.

William joined Rathbones in September 2014 from Jupiter Asset Management, having also previously worked at Bestinvest. Throughout his career he has managed portfolios for a wide variety of families, individual clients, pension funds and charities, and spends much of his time working with Independent Financial Advisers and on behalf of their clients.

William is a Chartered Member of the CISI (MCSI).

William is a Chartered Financial Planner with the Chartered Insurance Institute, a member of The Society of Trustee and Estate Practitioners and is in the process of becoming a Fellow of the Personal Finance Society. 

He joined Rathbones in 2017, from Lansdown Place Wealth Management, where he spent time advising clients on all aspects of financial planning.

William has experience in providing holistic financial advice to a wide range of individuals, families, trusts and business owners. He helps clients across a broad range of areas including protecting their wealth, investment and retirement planning, and succession and inheritance tax planning.

William graduated from Durham University with an honours degree in Classics and a master's in Economics. He joined Bestinvest in 2000 as an investment adviser rising to investment manager and team leader. William then joined Jupiter Asset Management in 2008 to become an investment director in the Private Client and Charities department and joined Rathbones in 2014 following their acquisition of Jupiter’s Private Client department.

Throughout his career, William has focussed on private clients and charities, notably high net worth families, managing a wide range of investment portfolios and mandates such as those for individuals, trusts, SIPPs, charities and offshore accounts.

William is a Chartered Fellow of the Chartered Institute of Securities and Investments (CISI) and holds the CISI Diploma, which is a level 6 qualification. William lives in the country with an ever-expanding family and enjoys all that this brings. He particularly enjoys skiing, surfing and golf when he finds the time.

William graduated from Northumbria University in 2015 with an honours degree in Biomedical Science. He went on to work in the microbiology diagnostic labs at the RVI and Freeman hospitals in Newcastle before joining Speirs & Jeffrey in September 2016. He is a member of the Chartered Institute for Securities & Investments, having obtained the Investment Advice Diploma and Chartered Wealth Manager (CWM) qualifications.

William is a member of the investment team and works closely with Andrew Waddell. Speirs & Jeffrey was fully integrated with Rathbones in July 2019.
