Bruce Newbigging

Bruce is managing director of UK Trust and has gained a wide range of expertise and knowledge from over 30 years practical experience in all areas of corporate, private and charity trust work. Bruce now specialises in family office services for wealthy clients and is also a trustee of a significant grant-giving foundation.

Bruce joined Rathbones in 2002 having worked with Hambros for the previous 25 years managing its private bank and trust business for the majority of that time.

Bryan Amos

Bryan joined Rathbones from Prudential Financial Planning, where he worked as a financial adviser. He previously worked at Scottish Widows as a Life, Pensions, Investment and Retirement Consultant. Bryan holds the Diploma in Financial Advice from the London Institute of Banking and Finance and is currently working towards his Advanced Diploma.

He assists with client meetings and the associated tasks as well as drafting certain pieces of advice.

Bryn Jones

Bryn is the head of fixed income for Rathbones, and is lead manager on the Rathbone Ethical Bond Fund and the Rathbone Strategic Bond Fund. He joined Rathbones in November 2004 from Merrill Lynch, where he managed $2 billion of fixed income assets.

Bryn is a member of the Rathbone Strategic Asset Allocation Committee, Non-Executive Chairman of Rathbones' Fixed Income Committee, and an adviser to the Rathbone Banking Committee. He is a WMA representative for the HMT DMO’s (Her Majesty’s Treasury - Debt Management Office) Gilt market consultation process. Bryn appears regularly on CNBC and Bloomberg TV. He also sits on the IA Fixed Income Committee.

Bryn graduated from Birmingham University with a Bachelor of Arts degree in Geography in 1995.  Bryn’s Rathbone Ethical Bond Fund was awarded Best Sterling Corporate Bond Fund at the Morningstar UK Fund Awards 2014 and 2016; Best SRI Bond Fund at the Money Observer 2015, 2016 and 2017 Fund Awards; the Rathbone Ethical Bond Fund is also a top performer in the Bond Pound Sterling – Corporates sector over 3 and 5 years in the UK (Lipper Fund Award 2015) and was ‘Highly Commended’ at the 2015 Moneywise Awards. His Rathbone Strategic Bond Fund was voted best Multi-Asset Fixed Income Strategy at the Investment Week Specialist Investment Awards 2015 and was highly commended in 2016.

Originally from the Highlands, Calum joined Speirs & Jeffrey in 2015 after spending five years at Baillie Gifford. He graduated from the University of Strathclyde in 2009 with a masters degree in Mechanical Engineering with Financial Management and is a Member of the Chartered Institute for Securities & Investment. Speirs & Jeffrey was fully integrated with Rathbones in July 2019. Calum works closely with Graeme Dickie.

Cameron graduated from the University of Glasgow in 2009 with an honours degree in law. While studying for his degree he spent a year abroad in Nijmegen in The Netherlands.

He joined Speirs & Jeffrey in August 2009 and initially worked in the custody department, moving to the investment support department in the summer of 2010. Cameron was appointed an Investment Director in December 2017.

Cameron works closely with Graeme Dickie and Craig Baxter. He is a Chartered Fellow of the Chartered Institute for Security & Investment. Speirs & Jeffrey was fully integrated with Rathbones in July 2019.

Camilla Ayling

Camilla joined Rathbones in February 2016 as an equity analyst covering UK stocks across all sectors. She is now responsible for generating new stock ideas to recommend to the Stock Selection Committees for both UK and Overseas equities and for maintaining coverage of securities held.

Prior to Rathbones, Camilla worked at Barclays Wealth & Investment Management. The majority of her time there was in the Third Party Funds Team, acting as a Product Specialist for the Mutual Funds, Hedge Funds and Exchange Traded Funds on platform across all asset classes, but she also gained experience in Investment Advisory too. Camilla graduated from the University of Bath in 2013 with a BSc (Hons) 2:1 degree in Economics. Camilla holds the Investment Management Certificate (IMC) and is a Chartered Financial Analyst (CFA) charterholder.

Camilla started her career in 2016 when she joined the Rathbones Graduate Scheme. She spent time circulating a number of investment management teams, our investment research desk as well as our back office in Liverpool, before joining James Goodhew’s team as an assistant Investment Manager in 2018.

Camilla assists in the management of discretionary portfolios for private clients, pensions, trusts and charities. As well having a keen interest in UK politics and equity investment trusts, she enjoys building strong relationships with the team’s clients, understanding their goals and providing an excellent service.

Camilla graduated from the University of Bristol with a 2:1 in Politics and Sociology. She is a member of the Chartered Institute for Securities and Investment, holds the Investment Advice Diploma and the Chartered Wealth Management qualification.

Camilla is an investment manager, and has worked in private client fund management since 2011. She joined Rathbones in 2011 having previously worked at Lyxor Asset Management, part of the Societe Generale Group.

Camilla graduated from the University of Edinburgh gaining a 2:1 in Geography in 2010 and became a qualified Chartered Wealth Manager, MCSI, in 2014, having completed the Chartered Institute for Securities and Investment Masters.

Camilla assists Investment Directors’ Clive Hexton and Tim Johnson in managing discretionary private client investment portfolios for complex family structures, including the management of bespoke family funds.  Alongside participating in researching investment ideas and providing administrative support, Camilla is also a member of the Overseas Investment Committee, which has responsibility for the research, selection and monitoring of international equity exposure for the group.

Carl Stick

Carl is a Board Director of Rathbone Unit Trust Management and plays a key role in the development of Rathbones’ investment process and business strategy. He is also the manager of the Rathbone Income Fund, which he has been managing since January 2000.

After Rathbones acquired Neilson Cobbold in 1996, Carl transferred to London in August 1998, where he became an assistant fund manager for the unit trust business, working alongside Hugh Priestley. Carl graduated from the University of Southampton in 1991 with a BA Honours degree in English Literature. He is also I.I.M.R.-qualified and a Fellow of the Securities Institute.

Carol is an investment director who has worked in investment management since December 1981 and she has been responsible for the discretionary management of investment portfolios for private clients, charities and trusts since 1990. Carol is a Chartered Fellow of the Chartered Institute for Securities and Investment and is a Chartered Wealth Manager. 

Carol joined Rathbones’ Edinburgh Office in July 2010 having worked previously for the Bank of Scotland Portfolio Management Services from the end of 1981. Whilst with the Bank of Scotland, as well as managing discretionary portfolios, she was involved with the training of colleagues and with compliance monitoring.

Caroline O'Callaghan

Caroline is an investment director.  After running a privately owned asset management business for 10 years, Caroline moved to the New Forest in 1995, joining Brewin Dolphin in Lymington.  She was appointed as a divisional director and managed discretionary and advisory portfolios, with a particular interest in income focused and ethical investments.  The majority of her clients are private individuals and charities.

Caroline worked at Brewin Dolphin for 17 years and was responsible for the management of over £110m. She particularly enjoys the client relationship aspect of portfolio management.

Catherine Murphy

Catherine advises Greenbank on charity funds. She previously worked at Henderson Global Investors from 1986 to 2001, as the fund manager responsible for institutional SRI portfolios and then as a director of Henderson’s Socially Responsible Investment Team. Her clients included the Joseph Rowntree Charitable Trust as well as County Council Environmental Funds.

Catherine Taylor

Catherine manages the offshore operational infrastructure supporting the growing international private client business. She has over 18 years experience in the finance industry, qualifying as a Chartered Accountant with Deloitte in 2000.

Charles Morgan

Charles is an investment director, he is responsible for the management of private client portfolios, including trusts, charities and pension funds (SIPPs). Charles began his career as a trainee stockbroker with Charles Stanley & Co in 1986 before joining Laurence Keen in 1990, which was acquired by Rathbone Brothers Plc in 1995. Charles is a Chartered Fellow of the Chartered Institute for Securities and Investment.

Charles is an investment director, he manages a range of private client portfolios, pension funds, trusts and charities.

Charles has a degree in Business Administration and has completed the Chartered Securities Institute’s Masters in Wealth Management achieving a distinction in the final paper. He is a Member of the Chartered Institute for Securities and Investment and sits on the firms Collectives Research Committee.

Charles joined Rathbones in 2007 from Hargreave Hale where he worked as a stockbroker. Prior to this he worked as a freelance producer of factual entertainment and documentaries in the television industry.

Charles Wilcox

Charles has over 25 years experience managing investments for charities, private clients and associated family trust structures. His principal role is as a senior fund manager with responsibility for over £250m of client money. He also sits on the Stock Selection Committee with particular expertise in UK companies. Charles is also the Rathbone representative on the FTSE/APCIMS Indices Committee. He was educated at Downside School and Exeter University where he attained a 2:1 degree in Economics and Geography. Subsequently he worked for Henderson Crosthwaite and Laurence Keen until the latter was acquired by Rathbones in 1998, where he has worked for c. 15 years.

Charlie is an investment director and has over 30 years investment experience. His prime responsibility is the discretionary management of investment portfolios for private clients, self invested personal pensions (SIPPs), trusts and charities. Charlie is a Chartered Fellow of the Chartered Institute for Securities & Investment.

Previously, Charlie worked in investment management roles in Scotland and London with Greig Middleton, Laing & Cruickshank and Merrill Lynch International, and was elected a member of the London Stock Exchange in 1988. He joined Rathbones in Edinburgh in 2000.

Cherie is an investment director with responsibility for the investment management of portfolios for private clients and their Trusts, self invested pension plans (SIPPs) and charities. She has over 26 years experience having started her financial career at Torrie & Co, stockbrokers, after which she spent a decade at Albyn Investments (which was acquired by Rathbones in 1998). Cherie then joined a private client law firm, Turcan Connell, where she was a senior investment manager responsible for managing discretionary portfolios. 

Cherie joins Rathbones after six years at Barclays Wealth & Investment Management where she was a vice president. She is a Chartered Fellow of the Chartered Securities Institute and is also a Chartered Wealth Manager.

Chris’s career started in retail banking, where he spent 4 years with Barclays. Chris joined Rathbones in April 2018, bringing over 5 years experience in different corners of the market, including pensions, wealth management and alternative investments. working with Independent and restricted financial advisers. Chris specialises in developing relationships with national firms, networks and strategic partnerships.

Chris is an investment director based in London, with over 25 years experience of managing private client, trust and charity portfolios, mostly on a discretionary basis. He joined Rathbones in 2011, having started his city career in 1984 with Henderson Crosthwaite and remaining with its successor companies for nearly 27 years. He is a History graduate from the University of Warwick and is a Chartered Fellow of the Chartered Institute for Securities and Investment.

Christoph Atkins

Christoph started his career at Blick Rothenberg Chartered Accountants. In 2007, he joined Rathbones in the London office where he worked for over four years before taking up an opportunity in 2011 working at the financial regulator - the FSA. Christoph re-joined Rathbones in 2013 as part of the Newcastle office when it opened.

Christoph graduated from Imperial College London with a BSc in Mathematics, is a qualified Chartered Accountant and holds the Chartered Institute of Securities and Investment (CISI) Diploma (achieving a distinction in both the Investment Analysis paper and the Private Client Investment Advice and Management paper).

Chris joined Rathbones from a national independent financial adviser and as well as being a Chartered Financial Planner is a Fellow of the Personal Finance Society. Chris has been advising individuals and businesses since 1998 on investment, pension and inheritance tax. His areas of specialism include the planning relating to drawing benefits from pension plans and the use of trusts as part of family financial planning. Chris ensures that all of his clients examine all areas of financial planning to help them and their families plan in an ever increasing complex world.

Christopher is an investment director at Rathbone Greenbank, specialising in managing ethical portfolios on behalf of private clients, trusts and charities. He is a chartered fellow of the Chartered Institute for Securities & Investment and was the recipient of the Overall Chartered Institute of Securities and Investment Masters in Wealth Management Award for 2010.

Christopher has been with Rathbones since 2008 and was previously at Hargreaves Lansdown and is a graduate of Bristol University (2000).

Christopher joined Rathbones in 2012.  He manages discretionary investment portfolios for charities, trusts and private individuals as well as for family office arrangements. Christopher is a member of the Rathbones’ International Stock Selection Committee.  

Prior to joining Rathbones, Christopher worked at Taylor Young Investment Management Ltd where he was a senior investment manager and manager of the Growth & Income Fund.

Christopher is an investment director, joining Rathbones in May 2008 from Singer & Friedlander Investment Management where he was chief executive. He previously held similar positions at Hambros Bank Private Client Management, Scrimgeour Vickers Asset Management and Kemp-Gee Stockbrokers. Christopher is an investment director and concentrates on private client discretionary investment management.

Christopher is an investment director in our Cambridge office. He became a Member of the London Stock Exchange in the early 1980s. He is a Chartered Fellow of the Chartered Institute for Securities and Investment.

In 1984 Christopher moved to Cambridge and established a successful investment management business which has been part of Rathbones since 2001.

Christopher is a solicitor specialising in agricultural and residential property. He is also a qualified Chartered Surveyor and has extensive practical experience of the sale, purchase and management issues arising out of the ownership of residential property and landed estates for both private and institutional landowners. Prior to joining Rathbones, Christopher was a partner in Thrings solicitors and at Lee & Pembertons.

In addition to sales and purchases, Christopher also deals with secured lending, leases, easements, covenants, sporting rights, first registrations of title and other associated matters for both the rural and residential markets. In particular he deals with complex sales and purchases involving overage provisions, options, conditional contracts and exchanges of land.

Christopher is an investment director graduating from Edinburgh University in 1987. He has worked in private client investment management for over 16 years, beginning his career with Foster and Braithwaite before moving to Flemings. Christopher joined Rathbones in 2001. He is a Fellow of the Chartered Institute for Securities and Investment.

Christopher graduated from Durham University in 2012 with an honours degree in mathematics. He joined Speirs & Jeffrey in February 2013 and completed his professional qualifications in February 2015.

Now a Chartered Fellow of the Chartered Institute for Securities & Investment, Christopher works closely with Michael Wilson. Additionally, he manages a number of client portfolios ranging from individuals to Trusts and Charities.  Speirs & Jeffrey was fully integrated with Rathbones in July 2019.
