Chris’s career started in retail banking, where he spent 4 years with Barclays. Chris joined Rathbones in April 2018, bringing over 5 years experience in different corners of the market, including pensions, wealth management and alternative investments. working with Independent and restricted financial advisers. Chris specialises in developing relationships with national firms, networks and strategic partnerships.

Chris Ray is an investment director based in London, with over 25 years experience of managing private client, trust and charity portfolios, mostly on a discretionary basis. He joined Rathbones in 2011, having started his city career in 1984 with Henderson Crosthwaite and remaining with its successor companies for nearly 27 years. He is a History graduate from the University of Warwick and is a Chartered Fellow of the Chartered Institute for Securities and Investment

Christoph started his career at Blick Rothenberg Chartered Accountants. In 2007, he went on to work at Rathbones in the London office for over four years before taking up an opportunity working at the financial regulator, the FSA in 2011. Christoph re-joined Rathbones in 2013 as part of the new Newcastle office.

Christoph graduated from Imperial College London with a BSc in Mathematics, is a qualified Chartered Accountant and holds the Chartered Institute of Securities and Investment (CISI) Diploma (achieving a distinction in both the Investment Analysis paper and the Private Client Investment Advice and Management Paper).

Christoph currently sits on the Board of Trustees of the Headway Gateshead and South Tyneside Charity, a local charity helping individuals who have suffered traumatic brain injuries.

Chris joined Rathbones from a national independent financial adviser and as well as being a Chartered Financial Planner is a Fellow of the Personal Finance Society. Chris has been advising individuals and businesses since 1998 on investment, pension and inheritance tax. His areas of specialism include the planning relating to drawing benefits from pension plans and the use of trusts as part of family financial planning. Chris ensures that all of his clients examine all areas of financial planning to help them and their families plan in an ever increasing complex world.

Christopher Bullock is an investment director at Rathbone Greenbank, specialising in managing ethical portfolios on behalf of private clients, trusts and charities. He is a chartered fellow of the Chartered Institute for Securities & Investment and was the recipient of the Overall Chartered Institute of Securities and Investment Masters in Wealth Management Award for 2010.

Christopher has been with Rathbones since 2008 and was previously at Hargreaves Lansdown and is a graduate of Bristol University (2000).

Christopher joined Rathbones in 2012.  He manages discretionary investment portfolios for charities, trusts and private individuals as well as for family office arrangements. Christopher is a member of the Rathbones’ International Stock Selection Committee.  

Prior to joining Rathbones, Christopher worked at Taylor Young Investment Management Ltd where he was a senior investment manager and manager of the Growth & Income Fund.

Christopher Buzzard is an investment director, joining Rathbones in May 2008 from Singer & Friedlander Investment Management where he was chief executive. He previously held similar positions at Hambros Bank Private Client Management, Scrimgeour Vickers Asset Management and Kemp-Gee Stockbrokers. Christopher is an investment director and concentrates on private client discretionary investment management.

Christopher Day is an investment director in our Cambridge office. He became a Member of the London Stock Exchange in the early 1980s. He is a Chartered Fellow of the Chartered Institute for Securities and Investment.

In 1984 Christopher moved to Cambridge and established a successful investment management business which has been part of Rathbones since 2001.

Christopher Godfrey-Faussett is an investment director and has managed investments for private clients, trusts and charities since 1992 and represents Rathbones’ charities team in Scotland. After a commission in the army, he joined Fleming Private Asset Management in April 1992 and, following the Flemings take-over by JP Morgan, joined the Rathbone London office as an investment director in March 2001. Christopher moved to the Edinburgh office in April 2005. He is a member of the Chartered Institute for Securities and Investment.

Christopher Hordern is a solicitor specialising in agricultural and residential property. He is also a qualified Chartered Surveyor and has extensive practical experience of the sale, purchase and management issues arising out of the ownership of residential property and landed estates for both private and institutional landowners. Prior to joining Rathbones, Christopher was a partner in Thrings solicitors and at Lee & Pembertons.

In addition to sales and purchases, Christopher also deals with secured lending, leases, easements, covenants, sporting rights, first registrations of title and other associated matters for both the rural and residential markets. In particular he deals with complex sales and purchases involving overage provisions, options, conditional contracts and exchanges of land.

Christopher James is an investment director graduating from Edinburgh University in 1987. He has worked in private client investment management for over 16 years, beginning his career with Foster and Braithwaite before moving to Flemings. Christopher joined Rathbones in 2001. He is a Fellow of the Chartered Institute for Securities and Investment.

Christopher is an Investment Director and a Fellow of the Chartered Institute for Securities and Investment.

He manages investment portfolios for charities, trusts, pensions and private clients including some with ethical criteria. He also enjoys working with independent financial advisers.

After graduating from Bristol University, where he had an army scholarship, Christopher served for seven years in a cavalry regiment. He started at Rathbones in 2002, where he trained, and as Investment Director worked in Bristol and Exeter. In 2012 he moved to Brewin Dolphin as Divisional Director before rejoining Rathbones in 2016.

Christopher Swan is an investment director based in the Winchester office. He specialises in managing portfolios for private individuals including the investments held in their associated trusts, pension funds, private companies and charities.

He is an individually Chartered Fellow of the Chartered Institute for Securities and Investment and won the FT Extel Prize awarded by the Institute for its diploma examinations in 1996/97. After graduating from Cambridge University, he trained with Smith & Williamson Securities and Wise Speke Limited before joining Rathbone Brothers in 1997.

Clare Gore Langton is an investment director, with over 25 years of experience of working with private client investment portfolios including trusts, charities and pension funds. 

She is a Chartered Fellow (Hon) of the Chartered Institute of Securities and Investments (CISI) where she was a director from 1992 until 2010.  She is now Chairman of the CISI Educational Trust and is a member of the CISI Investment Committee.

Clare is a Trustee of the Laurence Keen Pension Fund and sits on the M.S. Society Investment Committee.  She is also a Trustee of Calvert Trust, Exmoor.

Clare Gunn is an investment director and provides discretionary management for a longstanding client base totalling some £83m. These cover private clients, corporate clients, charities and trusts. She is a Chartered Fellow of the Chartered Institute for Securities & Investment.

Clare joined Rathbones in July 2010 following the acquisition of the Bank of Scotland Portfolio Management Service from Lloyds. She had been with Portfolio Management Service for 25 years and during this time was involved in all aspects of private client investments and managed private client portfolios for the latter 17 years.

Clive Hexton

Clive Hexton is an investment director with 25 years experience in private client fund management.  He has been actively involved in the management of portfolios for larger complex family structures, including the management of bespoke family funds, and accordingly is also a director of Rathbone Unit Trust Management (Rathbone Funds).

Clive is a member of the Rathbone Investment Management Investment Executive Committee. He is also on Rathbones' committees for Strategic Asset Allocation and UK Stock Selection. He is a Chartered Fellow of the Chartered Institute for Securities and Investment and has an honours degree from London University.

Clive joined Rathbones in 2000, prior to which he spent 15 years at Kleinwort Benson. Throughout this period he was actively involved in the research and stock selection process, was deputy chief investment officer and in his earlier years was research manager for the oil, gas, utility and pharmaceutical sectors. Prior to his career in the financial services, Clive served a three year commission with the Royal Regiment of Fusiliers.

Colin Monton

Colin Monton is a Senior Financial Planner responsible for advising private clients and trusts in all aspects of financial planning.  He has been advising private clients and their families on complex estate planning, pension solutions and generational wealth succession since 2001.

Prior to joining Rathbones, Colin was a director at Coutts and HSBC International, advising internationally mobile and non domicile clients on country specific tax solutions and excluded property trusts.  

Colin is a Chartered Financial Planner, a Fellow of the Personal Finance Society and a member of the Chartered Institute for Securities and Investment. Furthermore, he holds qualifications from other jurisdictions, well placing him to comment on cross jurisdictional financial planning matters.

Corinne Bathgate

Corinne Bathgate is an investment director at Rathbone Greenbank specialising in the management of ethical portfolios for private clients, trusts and charities. She is a graduate with a Bachelor of Science in Economics from the University of Bristol.  Corinne currently holds the Masters in Wealth Management and is a chartered member of the Chartered Institute for Securities and Investment.

Corinne joined Rathbones in April 2007 and previously worked as an economic analyst.

Damian Cocking

Damian joined Rathbones as Head of International Business Development in September 2014 as part of the transaction involving the Jupiter Private Client and Charities team where he was Head of Private Clients & Charities Business Development. Previously he has held roles at Stenham Asset Management where he headed the Offshore business, Goldman Sachs as Head of Fiduciary Relationships and as a Senior Investment Consultant for a large private trust company. Damian also held a Sales and Marketing role at Merrill Lynch Investment Managers covering Europe and the Middle East.

Damian graduated from Greenwich University with a Bachelor of Arts in Business and holds the Investment Management Certificate, Financial Planning Certificate and Series 7 qualifications.

Danny Bell

Danny Bell is an investment director, working with private client investment portfolios including, trusts, charities and pension funds. He is a Chartered Fellow of the Chartered Institute of Securities and Investments (CISI).

Danny has worked in the investment management industry for over 25  years having joined Laurence Prust in 1985 as a partner's assistant. He was appointed a director of Laurence Keen Ltd in 1990 and in 1995, Laurence Keen was acquired by Rathbones.

Danny is an investment manager who has worked in the industry for 20 years. His primary responsibilities are the provision of discretionary investment management solutions for individuals, family trusts and pensions.     
 
Having started his investment career at Lloyds Private Bank in Mayfair he moved to Williams de Broe in 2006. The firm was acquired by Investec in 2011. He left to join Rathbones in 2014. 
 
He is a chartered member of the Institute for Securities & Investment. 

David Bassett

David began his career in 1996 as an Assistant Investment Manager at Fleming Private Asset Management prior to a takeover by JPMorgan. He moved to Rathbones in March 2001 before teaming up with Randolph Churchill in February 2003 as an Investment Manager.

David graduated with a 2.1 in Business Studies from the Business School at Kingston University in 1995. He then completed the Investment Advice Certificate and subsequently the Securities Institute Diploma in 2001 and is a Fellow of the Chartered Institute for Securities and Investment.

David is an Investment Director, responsible for the day to day investment management of a number of private client and family trust portfolios within a significant team at Rathbones.

David is an Investment Director and has over 16 years’ experience managing portfolios wealthy private clients, trusts, pensions and institutional portfolios. David joined the company following Rathbones’ acquisition of Jupiter Asset Management’s Private Clients & Charities business.

After obtaining a Masters in Economics from University College Dublin, David started his career in Investment Management with Brooks MacDonald in 1998 prior to moving to Bestinvest in 2003 and finally joining Jupiter Asset Management in 2008, where he was a director of the Private Clients & Charities team as well as a trustee of the Jupiter company pension scheme.

David manages funds for charities, pension funds, trusts and private clients. He graduated from the University of the West of England in 1998 with a degree in Business Studies.

David is a Chartered Fellow of the Chartered Institute for Securities & Investment and worked for Greig Middleton before joining Rathbones in 2001. David plays cricket in the Gloucestershire League and one of his other passions is horse racing. He used to part own a National Hunt horse and is an annual member at Cheltenham Racecourse.

David also enjoys travelling and charity work, and combined these when he and his wife went to work at a school in Kenya in 2009.

David Coombs is head of multi-asset investments and joined Rathbones in 2007. He is a member of our Investment Executive Committee as well as the Strategic Asset Allocation Committee . David is responsible for developing our investment propositions for national financial advisory firms and networks. He is the lead manager for the Rathbones Multi-Asset Portfolio Funds and the offshore Luxembourg-based Sicavs. He is also co-manager for the Rathbones Strategic Bond Fund.

David previously worked at Barings for almost 20 years where he managed institutional and private clients via pooled vehicles and segregated accounts. He joined Barings in 1988 from Hambros, where he managed multi-manager portfolios for private clients. David is an Associate of the Chartered Institute of Financial Services.

David joined Rathbones in June 2014 as a global equity analyst from private bank, Julius Baer.  He is the lead fund manager and investment analyst of the Rathbone Global Sustainability Fund, supported by Liz Davis and Neil Smith.

David has a wealth of fund management experience, and is currently one of the managers of our Rathbone Heritage Fund and Rathbone Income Fund. he also supports David Coombs’ Rathbone Multi-Asset Portfolios (RMAPs), with direct equity selection. David has more than 14 years’ experience in equity analysis and fund management, including positions at Hermes and Goldman Sachs.  

David holds the Investment Management Certificate and a BSc (Hons) in Economics and Politics from the University of Southampton. He is a CFA charter-holder.

David Kness is an investment manager based in our Winchester office. He is responsible for managing a wide variety of portfolios for private clients, personal pension funds, charities, and trusts. He also specialises in the management of our Rathbones Unitised Portfolio Service which invests in the Rathbones Multi Asset Portfolio funds.

David is a Chartered Fellow of the Chartered Institute for Securities and Investment. His career began in the City of London with PSigma Investment Management before joining Rathbones in 2012. David graduated from the University of Surrey with an honours degree in Economics.

In 2016, David received two accolades for his achievements within the wealth management industry. He was named as one of the ‘Top 40 Under 40’ in the Private Asset Managers (PAM) Awards as well as one of the ‘Top 30 Under 30’ in the Citywire Wealth Manager Awards.

David is an investment director and has managed investments for private individuals, trusts, pension funds and charities for over 30 years. Elected to the London Stock Exchange in 1989, David is a Chartered Member of the Chartered Institute for Securities and Investments at full diploma level achieved with distinction and a graduate of Edinburgh University. 

David joined Rathbones in August 2000 after three years with Merrill Lynch setting up this group's Scottish business. Prior to joining Merrill Lynch, he spent 11 years with the Scottish stockbrokers, Bell Lawrie, rising to director level on the private client side. David is one of our senior investment managers looking after some £300m of client funds and  previously headed up the Edinburgh office overseeing its growth to the largest office in terms of funds under management outside London at just over £2.5bn.  He works with fellow directors , Charles Younger and Nick Liddle and is supported by Investment Manager, Jonathan Brock, Assistant Investment manager, James Coppell and PA, Julie Loudon. 

David McSorley

David joined the professional funds department of  Simon & Coates (S&C) Private Clients division in 1984. S&C  were taken over by Chase Manhattan at the time of Big Bang in 1986 and when Chase exited securities in 1989 , the professional funds team joined Tilney. In 2007 Tilney was sold to Deutsche Bank (DB) and I and my immediate colleagues eventually transferred to Rathbones in June 2014.

I act as Relationship and Fund Manager to approximately 100 clients and I also formulate the investments strategies for the entire team that transferred from DB via the management of four model portfolios .

David is a Chartered Financial Planner and Fellow of the Personal Finance Society. He joined Rathbones in April 2016 from the multi-family office Stonehage Fleming. David began his financial planning career in 2004 and over that time has provided effective counsel to a varied portfolio of wealthy individuals and families. He has a large professional network and works hard to ensure his clients receive the best possible outcomes and ongoing service.

David has been recognised as one the UK’s leading HNW Wealth Managers in the Spear’s 500, is highlighted on the Citywealth Leaders List and earlier in his career was named in Private Client Practitioner’s Top 35 under 35 on three occasions. He was awarded the inaugural Spear’s ‘young turk’ Wealth Manager of the Year title in 2012.
