Ben Shaw

Ben joined Rathbones in early 2017 and is a Fellow of the Personal Finance Society and holds the Advanced Diploma in Financial Planning. He graduated from the University of York in 2009 with a BSc (Hons) in Environment, Economics and Ecology. Ben also has a Masters from the University of Leeds in Engineering Geology.

He previously worked as an Environmental Manager on large national infrastructure projects before moving to Rathbones to pursue a career within Financial Planning.

Ben assists with client meetings and the associated tasks as well as drafting certain pieces of advice. 

Betsy Ashburner

Betsy joined Rathbones in September 2018, after graduating from the University of Manchester with a first class degree in Psychology. She spent her first year at Rathbones within the anti-money laundering team, working on a regulatory project for both the UK and Jersey offices.

Betsy is now on the trainee investment manager programme, gaining in-depth experience and knowledge of Rathbones by exposure to a variety of departments. She is a member of the Chartered Institute of Securities and Investments having achieved the CISI Level 4 Investment Advice Diploma (Securities) in July 2020.

Brendan Butler

Brendan manages portfolios for private clients, trusts and pensions. After graduating from the University of Glasgow with a first class honours degree in Veterinary Bioscience, he went on to study for an MSc in Investment and Finance at the University of Strathclyde. He joined Speirs & Jeffrey in September 2014 before Speirs & Jeffrey was fully integrated with Rathbones in July 2019.

Brendan is a Chartered Wealth Manager.  He is also a Chartered Member of the Chartered Institute for Securities & Investment.

In addition to providing advice to his growing client base, Brendan also works closely with Andrew Waddell.

Brian joined Rathbones in 1981 after graduating from UMIST in Manchester with a degree in Management Science, specialising in Economics and Financial Analysis.

Brian is an investment director, responsible for Rathbones' Investment Management business in Liverpool.

He is a Chartered Fellow of the Chartered Institute for Securities and Investment and has over 30 years' experience in managing portfolios for private individuals, pension funds and charitable trusts.

Joining Rathbones in 2010, Brian has worked in law firms throughout his career and has over 45 years’ experience of dealing with probate and the administration of estates.

Brian is associate sales director for Scotland & Northern Ireland. He is responsible for growing the Rathbone footprint in the area via deeper relationships with the financial adviser community as well as discretionary fund managers. He joined Rathbones in March 2016, having spent three years with Old Mutual Global Investors. Previously he spent 10 years with Prudential Plc.

Bruce is managing director of UK Trust and has gained a wide range of expertise and knowledge from over 30 years' practical experience in all areas of corporate, private and charity trust work. Bruce now specialises in family office services for wealthy clients and is also a trustee of a significant grant-giving foundation.

Bruce joined Rathbones in 2002 having worked with Hambros for the previous 25 years managing its private bank and trust business for the majority of that time.

Bryan joined Rathbones from Prudential Financial Planning, where he worked as a financial adviser. He previously worked at Scottish Widows as a life, pensions, investment and retirement consultant. Bryan holds the Diploma in Financial Advice from the London Institute of Banking and Finance and is currently working towards his Advanced Diploma.

He assists with client meetings and the associated tasks as well as drafting certain pieces of advice.

Bryn Jones

Bryn is the head of fixed income for Rathbones and is lead manager on the Rathbone Ethical Bond Fund and the Rathbone Strategic Bond Fund. He joined Rathbones in November 2004 from Merrill Lynch, where he managed $2 billion of fixed income assets.

Bryn is a member of the Rathbone Strategic Asset Allocation Committee, non-executive chairman of Rathbones' Fixed Income Committee, and an adviser to the Rathbone Banking Committee. He is a WMA representative for the HMT DMO’s (Her Majesty’s Treasury - Debt Management Office) Gilt market consultation process. Bryn appears regularly on CNBC and Bloomberg TV. He also sits on the IA Fixed Income Committee.

Bryn graduated from Birmingham University with a Bachelor of Arts degree in Geography in 1995.  Bryn’s Rathbone Ethical Bond Fund was awarded Best Sterling Corporate Bond Fund at the Morningstar UK Fund Awards 2014 and 2016; Best SRI Bond Fund at the Money Observer 2015, 2016 and 2017 Fund Awards; the Rathbone Ethical Bond Fund is also a top performer in the Bond Pound Sterling – Corporates sector over three and five years in the UK (Lipper Fund Award 2015) and was ‘Highly Commended’ at the 2015 Moneywise Awards. His Rathbone Strategic Bond Fund was voted best Multi-Asset Fixed Income Strategy at the Investment Week Specialist Investment Awards 2015 and was highly commended in 2016.

Originally from the Highlands, Calum joined Speirs & Jeffrey in 2015 after spending five years at Baillie Gifford. He graduated from the University of Strathclyde in 2009 with a master's degree in Mechanical Engineering with Financial Management and is a member of the Chartered Institute for Securities & Investment. Speirs & Jeffrey was fully integrated with Rathbones in July 2019. Calum works closely with Graeme Dickie.

Cameron graduated from the University of Glasgow in 2009 with an honours degree in Law. While studying for his degree he spent a year abroad in Nijmegen in The Netherlands.

He joined Speirs & Jeffrey in August 2009 and initially worked in the custody department, moving to the investment support department in the summer of 2010. Cameron was appointed an investment director in December 2017.

Cameron works closely with Graeme Dickie and Craig Baxter. He is a Chartered Fellow of the Chartered Institute for Security & Investment. Speirs & Jeffrey was fully integrated with Rathbones in July 2019.

Camilla Hill

Camilla started her career in 2016 when she joined the Rathbones graduate scheme. She spent time circulating a number of investment management teams, our investment research desk as well as our back office in Liverpool, before joining James Goodhew’s team as an assistant investment manager in 2018.

Camilla assists in the management of discretionary portfolios for private clients, pensions, trusts and charities. As well as having a keen interest in UK politics and equity investment trusts, she enjoys building strong relationships with the team’s clients, understanding their goals and providing an excellent service.

Camilla graduated from the University of Bristol with a 2:1 in Politics and Sociology. She is a member of the Chartered Institute for Securities and Investment, holds the Investment Advice Diploma and the Chartered Wealth Management qualification.

Camilla is an investment manager, and has worked in private client fund management since 2011. She joined Rathbones in 2011 having previously worked at Lyxor Asset Management, part of the Societe Generale Group.

Camilla graduated from the University of Edinburgh gaining a 2:1 in Geography in 2010 and became a qualified Chartered Wealth Manager, MCSI, in 2014, having completed the Chartered Institute for Securities and Investment Masters.

She assists investment directors’ Clive Hexton and Tim Johnson in managing discretionary private client investment portfolios for complex family structures, including the management of bespoke family funds.  Alongside participating in researching investment ideas and providing administrative support, Camilla is also a member of the Overseas Investment Committee, which has responsibility for the research, selection and monitoring of international equity exposure for the group.

Carl Stick

Carl is a board director of Rathbone Unit Trust Management and plays a key role in the development of Rathbones’ investment process and business strategy. He is also the manager of the Rathbone Income Fund, which he has been managing since January 2000.

After Rathbones acquired Neilson Cobbold in 1996, Carl transferred to London in August 1998, where he became an assistant fund manager for the unit trust business, working alongside Hugh Priestley. Carl graduated from the University of Southampton in 1991 with a BA honours degree in English Literature. He is also I.I.M.R.-qualified and a Fellow of the Securities Institute.

Carol Macintyre

Carol is an investment director who has worked in investment management since December 1981 and she has been responsible for the discretionary management of investment portfolios for private clients, charities and trusts since 1990. Carol is a Chartered Fellow of the Chartered Institute for Securities and Investment and is a Chartered Wealth Manager. 

Carol joined Rathbones’ Edinburgh office in July 2010 having worked previously for the Bank of Scotland Portfolio Management Services from the end of 1981. Whilst with the Bank of Scotland, as well as managing discretionary portfolios, she was involved with the training of colleagues and with compliance monitoring.

Caroline O'Callaghan

Caroline is an investment director.  After running a privately owned asset management business for 10 years, she moved to the New Forest in 1995, joining Brewin Dolphin in Lymington. Caroline was appointed as a divisional director and managed discretionary and advisory portfolios, with a particular interest in income-focused and ethical investments. The majority of her clients are private individuals and charities.

Caroline worked at Brewin Dolphin for 17 years and was responsible for the management of over £110m. She particularly enjoys the client relationship aspect of portfolio management.

Catherine Murphy

Catherine advises Greenbank on charity funds. She previously worked at Henderson Global Investors from 1986 to 2001, as the fund manager responsible for institutional SRI portfolios and then as a director of Henderson’s Socially Responsible Investment team. Her clients included the Joseph Rowntree Charitable Trust as well as County Council Environmental Funds.

Catherine Taylor

Catherine manages the offshore operational infrastructure supporting the growing international private client business. She has over 18 years experience in the finance industry, qualifying as a Chartered Accountant with Deloitte in 2000.

Charles Morgan

Charles is an investment director, he is responsible for the management of private client portfolios, including trusts, charities and pension funds (SIPPs). Charles began his career as a trainee stockbroker with Charles Stanley & Co in 1986 before joining Laurence Keen in 1990, which was acquired by Rathbone Brothers Plc in 1995. Charles is a Chartered Fellow of the Chartered Institute for Securities and Investment.

Charles is an investment director, he manages a range of private client portfolios, pension funds, trusts and charities.

Charles has a degree in Business Administration and has completed the Chartered Securities Institute’s Masters in Wealth Management achieving a distinction in the final paper. He is a member of the Chartered Institute for Securities and Investment and sits on the firms Collectives Research Committee.

Charles joined Rathbones in 2007 from Hargreave Hale where he worked as a stockbroker. Prior to this he worked as a freelance producer of factual entertainment and documentaries in the television industry.

Charles Wilcox

Charles has over 25 years' experience managing investments for charities, private clients and associated family trust structures. His principal role is as a senior fund manager with responsibility for over £250m of client money. He also sits on the Stock Selection Committee with particular expertise in UK companies. Charles is also the Rathbone representative on the FTSE/APCIMS Indices Committee. He was educated at Downside School and Exeter University where he attained a 2:1 degree in Economics and Geography. Subsequently he worked for Henderson Crosthwaite and Laurence Keen until the latter was acquired by Rathbones in 1998, where he has worked for c. 15 years.

Charlie is an investment director and has over 30 years' investment experience. His prime responsibility is the discretionary management of investment portfolios for private clients, self invested personal pensions (SIPPs), trusts and charities. Charlie is a Chartered Fellow of the Chartered Institute for Securities & Investment.

Previously, Charlie worked in investment management roles in Scotland and London with Greig Middleton, Laing & Cruickshank and Merrill Lynch International, and was elected a member of the London Stock Exchange in 1988. He joined Rathbones in Edinburgh in 2000.

Charlie joined Rathbones in April 2020 following the acquisition of Barclays Court of Protection and Personal Injury team, where he was a specialist wealth manager.

Since graduating in 2014 with a degree in Economics, Charlie has over five years’ experience in the provision of specialist investment advice for recipients of personal injury awards and their legal representatives, including lay and professional deputies and trustees, to ensure that they are able to enjoy the best possible quality of life without compromising their financial security.

Charlie is an active supporter of Cerebra, a national charity helping children with brain conditions and their families, and most recently took part in the 2019 Prudential RideLondon on their behalf.

Charlie is a member of the Chartered Institute for Securities and Investment and the Chartered Insurance Institute.

Cherie Hamoudi

Cherie is an investment director with responsibility for the investment management of portfolios for private clients and their trusts, self invested pension plans (SIPPs) and charities. She has over 26 years experience having started her financial career at Torrie & Co, stockbrokers, after which she spent a decade at Albyn Investments (which was acquired by Rathbones in 1998). Cherie then joined a private client law firm, Turcan Connell, where she was a senior investment manager responsible for managing discretionary portfolios. 

Cherie joins Rathbones after six years at Barclays Wealth & Investment Management where she was a vice president. She is a Chartered Fellow of the Chartered Securities Institute and is also a Chartered Wealth Manager.

Chris’s career started in retail banking, where he spent four years with Barclays. Chris joined Rathbones in April 2018, bringing over five years experience in different corners of the market, including pensions, wealth management and alternative investments. working with independent and restricted financial advisers. Chris specialises in developing relationships with national firms, networks and strategic partnerships.     

Chris Gardner

Chris has over 13 years' investment management and financial planning experience. He is a specialist in providing advice to recipients of personal injury and clinical negligence awards.

Chris works closely with clients, their families, legal representatives, trustees of personal injury trusts and deputies appointed by the Court of Protection. 

He is experienced working with a wide range of claimants, including minors and brain-injured clients. Chris prides himself in providing solutions tailored to the individual needs of each client, depending on their circumstances, financial sophistication as well as the nature and severity of their injuries enabling them to make informed decisions to ensure they maximise their lifestyle without jeopardising their future security.

When he is not helping his clients he enjoys spending time with his family, travelling and experiencing new cultures. Chris is a founding member of the North West fundraising group for the Child Brain Injury Trust.

He is a Chartered Member of the Chartered Institute for Securities & Investments and a Chartered Financial Planner of the Chartered Insurance Institute.

Chris Woodward

Chris is an investment manager at Rathbone Investment Management International. He manages multi-asset discretionary portfolios for offshore trusts, private clients and charities.

Chris graduated from the University of Exeter with a degree in Law, is a Chartered Member of the Chartered Institute for Securities and Investment (CISI) and holds the designation Chartered Wealth Manager, following completion of the level 7 Chartered Wealth Manager qualification.

He began his finance career in 2014 at Affinity Private Wealth, working across both the investment management and trust sides of the business, before moving to Quilter Cheviot in 2017. Chris joined Rathbones in 2020 and sits on the Jersey Investment Committee.

Christine joined Rathbones in 2019 having previously worked at St. James’s Place and Lloyds Private Banking.

She is a member of the Chartered Insurance Institute, holding the Diploma in Regulated Financial Planning and she is currently pursuing Chartered Financial Planner status by working towards the Advanced Diploma.

Christine assists with client meetings and the associated tasks as well as drafting certain pieces of advice.

Christoph Atkins

Christoph started his career at Blick Rothenberg Chartered Accountants. In 2007, he joined Rathbones in the London office where he worked for over four years before taking up an opportunity in 2011 working at the financial regulator - the FSA. Christoph re-joined Rathbones in 2013 as part of the Newcastle office when it opened.

Christoph manages portfolios on a discretionary basis for individuals, trusts, Offshore bonds and Self Invested Personal Pensions, predominantly working with IFA partners and their clients, having worked with financial planners for many years. He is a member of the firm’s IFA specialist committee and has delivered a number of topical presentations, both to the local IFA community and to national IFA networks.

Christoph is a Fellow of the Chartered Institute of Securities and Investment (CISI) and achieved a distinction in both the Investment Analysis paper and the Private Client Investment Advice and Management paper as part of his level 6 CISI Diploma. Christoph is also a qualified Chartered Accountant.

Chris joined Rathbones from a national independent financial adviser and as well as being a Chartered Financial Planner is a Fellow of the Personal Finance Society. Chris has been advising individuals and businesses since 1998 on investment, pension and inheritance tax. His areas of specialism include the planning relating to drawing benefits from pension plans and the use of trusts as part of family financial planning. Chris ensures that all of his clients examine all areas of financial planning to help them and their families plan in an ever-increasing complex world.
