Oliver Burns

Oliver Burns graduated from University of Birmingham with a degree in Economic and Social History.

Oliver joined Rathbones in September 2014 as an Investment Director from Jupiter Asset Management. At Jupiter, Oliver managed investment portfolios for a wide variety of clients including private clients, charities, institutions, and trusts. He was also an assistant manager for Jupiter Fund of Investment Trusts and Monthly Income unit trusts. Oliver started his career at Bestinvest whom he joined in 1997 where he ultimately became Head of Investment Management. Oliver is a Chartered Member of the CISI.

Oliver Harvey is an investment director specialising in discretionary private client fund management. While the focus is on private clients he also has considerable experience with many types of trust portfolios and personal pension schemes.  Most recently he and the team have developed a niche business running specialist portfolios for the Court of Protection.

Oliver holds a Masters (with honours) degree from Edinburgh University and is also a Chartered Fellow of the Chartered Institute for Securities and Investment. After graduating from Edinburgh, Oliver joined Fleming Private Asset Management as an equity research analyst, rising to head of the research team before joining one of the Private Client fund management teams, led by Tim Eliot-Cohen.  The takeover of Flemings by JP Morgan and the dramatic change in management style precipitating the move over to Rathbones.

Olivia Merrick

Olivia is an investment manager on the charity team at Rathbones, where she joined from Investec Asset Management. She is an associate of the CISI (Chartered Institute for Securities and Investment) having obtained the Investment Advice Diploma, and is a CFA (Chartered Financial Analyst) charterholder.

Olivia graduated from Exeter University with a BSc. Hons in Economics and Politics, and currently sits on the charity stock selection committee at Rathbones, as well as the stewardship committee.

 

Paul Phazey

Paul began his career as a graduate trainee at Charterhouse Tilney in Liverpool in 1989.

He then joined the Peterborough office of Allied Provincial in 1990, becoming a director of Gerrard in 2000.

After spells in Cambridge and Leeds, Paul joined the Barclays Wealth Court of Protection Team in 2007 and with his colleagues, established the largest Court Of Protection fund in England and Wales.

The Rathbones Court of Protection and Personal injury team offer a unique relationship based service for professional and lay deputies to ensure that protected parties and their families receive all the financial and welfare support they require, often in challenging circumstances.

Paul is a Chartered Fellow of the Chartered Institute of Securities and Investments.

Paula was delighted to join Rathbones following the successful acquisition of Jupiter’s private client and charities operation in September 2014. 

Paula is an experienced investment manager and has always specialised in the management of private client and charity portfolios.  She is dedicated to understanding each client’s specific requirements and providing a clear and personal service to trustees and family members through the generations, working closely with their other advisers.

She began her investment career at Hoare Govett moving to Invesco with her team in 1988 to build a private client investment business which was later acquired by Singer & Friedlander Investment Management.   At Jupiter, Paula was a senior member of the team developing a high quality service and award winning investment process for the firm’s private and charity clients. 

Paula was elected as a member of the London Stock Exchange in 1991.  She is a Chartered Fellow of the Securities Institute and also a Chartered Wealth Manager. She is proud to be a trustee of the National Health Service Pensioners Trust charity and time out of the office is always spent with her family.

Penny Harris

Penny Harris is an investment director. She has over 25 years’ experience in private client investment management looking after individuals, trusts, charities and Self Invested Personal Pensions (SIPPs).  She is a Chartered Fellow of the Chartered Institute for Securities and Investment and has a degree in English from University College London. Prior to joining Rathbones in June 2006, she was at Kleinwort Benson Private Bank for 20 years, where she was a director.  

Perry Rudd

Perry Rudd is head of Rathbone Greenbank’s ethical research team having joined Rathbones in 1999 after a career in the IT industry. He is responsible for managing the team’s proprietary research database and for producing its bi-annual reviews. He also conducts thematic research into key responsible investment issues as well as analysing corporate performance on environmental, social and governance matters. Perry was a founder member of both Rathbone Greenbank and Rathbones’ Social and Environmental Committee.

Peter Fenney

Having graduated from Liverpool University with a mathematics degree in 1981, Peter joined a local stockbroking firm where he helped develop their in-house research facility.

He became a member of The Stock Exchange in 1986, winning the award for highest ‘country ‘ candidate in that year, and progressively broadened his role to incorporate asset allocation and portfolio construction, before committing to individual client portfolio management. 

Peter joined Rathbones in 1997 and manages portfolios for a diverse range of private clients, pensions, trusts, and charities.

Peter joined Rathbones in 2014 and is an Investment Director with around 20 years experience in private client investment management. Prior to this he was a partner of Smith & Williamson Investment Management Ltd where he looked after a wide range of portfolios principally for clients seeking a lower risk approach to fund management. He was also in charge of the team that recommended collective funds sitting on a number of internal committees overseeing strategy, risk and asset allocation. He is a member of the Chartered Institute for Securities & Investment (CISI).

Peter is an Investment Manager who joined Rathbones in 2014  from Adam Investment Management. Peter graduated from the University of St Andrews with a BSc Hons in Geography and went on to complete an MSc postgraduate degree in Property Investment and Management. He also holds the CFA Investment Management Certificate, the CISI Certificate in Private Client Investment Advice and Management, and is a full member of the Chartered Institute for Securities and Investments.

Peter started his investment career at HSBC working in fund services before moving to Adam Investments in 2010, where he supported senior managers in the running of private client portfolios, company research and coverage of the UK equity market.

Peter specialises in the management of private client, charity, trust and pension portfolios, investing across all asset classes on behalf of clients.

Peter Thomson graduated with a BSc (Honours) in mathematics and statistics from University of London in 1986. He joined Taylor Young Investment Management Ltd in 2004 from Gerrard Limited where he spent 18 years managing private client, trust and charity mandates. At Gerrard he chaired the investment process committee and, latterly, was head of the Global Strategies Division.

At Taylor Young Investment Management Ltd he led the investment team and research functions and in May 2006 was appointed chief executive officer and head of the executive committee. Peter is an investment director and is a Chartered Fellow of the Chartered Institute for Securities & Investment and a Chartered Wealth Manager.

Phil Bain

Phil Bain is the deputy managing director of Rathbone Investment Management International. He manages a range of private client, trust and charity portfolios and sits on both Jersey and Group Investment Committees at Rathbones. Phil is an Associate of the Chartered Institute of Bankers, a Chartered Fellow of the Chartered Institute for Securities and Investment (CISI) and holds the Investment Management Certificate (IIMR). He joined Rathbones from Close International Asset Management, where he was the lead investment manager responsible for managing Close’s multi-award winning All Weather Fund. Phil has worked in the finance industry for 32 years, both in Jersey and the United Kingdom; and he has extensive private and investment banking experience, having also worked previously at SG Hambros and NatWest Bank.

Phil Wyatt is an Investment Manager, who manages a variety of investment portfolios.  After graduating from Southampton University with an Honours degree in Sports Science, Phil joined HSBC later that year.  Phil spent 14 years working in the Private Client department of HSBC Global Asset Management managing portfolios for private clients, personal pension funds, trusts and charities.  He is a Chartered Member of the Institute for Securities and Investment

Phillip joined Rathbones in November 2015 and has over thirteen years’ experience in Financial Planning.  He is a Chartered and Certified Financial Planner and a Fellow of the Personal Finance Society. 

Phillip strongly believes in helping clients achieve clarity regarding their lifetime goals.  He provides clear, practical and highly personal financial planning advice that can be trusted to meet their aspirations. He can provide advice on a standalone basis, but Phillip believes in building ongoing relationships with his clients to ensure their plans remain suitable, responding to changes in their circumstances and objectives.

Philip is a Chartered Financial Planner with over nine years’ experience of working collaboratively with his clients to structure their financial affairs to meet their financial objectives. He passionately believes in the value of proper financial planning and has seen the value of the peace of mind and reassurance that planning brings to clients who are uncertain of their long term security and who wish to ensure their affairs are managed in the most suitable and tax efficient manner.

Philip previously worked at the Private Bank C. Hoare & Co, joining Rathbones in August 2016. He is a Chartered Financial Planner and a Chartered Member of the Chartered Institute for Securities and Investments.

Philip Rennie is an Investment Director who joined Rathbones in 1997 having previously qualified as a professional member of the Chartered Institute of Purchasing and Supply.

Phil completed the Securities Institute Diploma and subsequently qualified as a Chartered Fellow of the Chartered Institute for Securities and Investment as well as achieving the designation of Chartered Wealth Manager.

Phil is responsible for managing investment portfolios for private individuals, trusts and Self Invested Personal Pension funds.

Philip started his career at Sun Life Assurance in London and then moved to Bristol to join AXA. Philip’s career with AXA spanned 23 years, 17 of those years in sales, employed as a business development manager for 6 years and then the latter 11 years as regional sales manager, managing a team of business development managers within the intermediary division.

Philip is qualified with the Investment Management Certificate, a diploma in financial planning, a certificate in discretionary investment management and is currently studying for the Private Client Investment Advice and Management examination.

His role in Rathbones is to grow and develop the business Rathbones writes with Vision Financial Planning advisers nationally. 

Polly Anderson

Polly is our Strategic Partnership Manager, working with a range of industry influencers to ensure that the various routes-to-market are understood, positioned and communicated accordingly.  She specialises in the Rathbones discretionary fund management service.
Polly has over 20 years’ business-to-business sales exposure in a variety of sectors including software, travel, commercial banking, nano-technology, employee health services and travel management.

Rachel Lewis

Rachel Lewis is a tax senior, joining Rathbones in 2005 after gaining five years invaluable experience with HMRC. Rachel has a sound, working knowledge which is important when liaising with HMRC on a frequent basis. Rachel specialises mainly in personal taxation but is also involved in VAT compliance for non resident entities. Rachel prides herself on building strong, professional relationships with her portfolio of clients.

Randolph Churchill

Randolph Churchill is an investment director, Chartered Accountant and is a Fellow of the Chartered Institute for Securities and Investment.  Randolph previously led an investment team at Schroders Private Bank.  Before joining Schroders, he was Director in charge of charities at Lazard Asset Management running investments for a number of larger UK charities.  He also worked at Deloitte and Touche Accountants.

After leaving school, Randolph served five years in the Royal Navy and his last appointment was as a Navigating and Operations Officer on HMS Swallow in the Hong Kong Squadron.  Subsequently, Randolph attended Buckingham University where he was awarded a degree in Financial Management and Accountancy.  

Until December 2016 Randolph was a Director of the Armed Services Investment Company that oversees the investment for over 100 military charities and also until December 2016 a Trustee of the Winston Churchill Memorial Trust.

Randolph is currently a Trustee of the War Memorial Trust, President of the International Churchill Society, Patron of The Biggin Hill Memorial Museum Trust, a Patron of Winston’s Wish and the JAGS Foundation.

Rebecca Tunstall is an investment manager working with a team managing private client portfolios, self-invested pensions schemes and charities. She is a Chartered Fellow of the Chartered Institute for Securities and Investment.

Rebecca started her career in 2004 at Whitefoord Limited, before moving to Holden & Partners, a Wealth Management firm with an Ethical bias. Rebecca worked as a Junior Investment Manager, where she was managing portfolios and researching investments before joining Rathbones in 2010.

Richard Dawson

Richard Dawson is the Regional Director for Rathbones’ Kendal office; along with the Kendal team Richard manages funds on behalf of private clients, pension funds, charities and trusts. 

Richard moved to the Lake District to join Rathbones in 2002, having trained and worked in London, and has been investing on behalf of his clients for close to 25 years.

With a degree in Business Studies Richard is also a Fellow of the Chartered Institute for Securities and Investment. Richard is married with two daughters, he enjoys many outdoor activities and is also a Governor of a local community school.

Richard Lanyon is an investment director, initially with Laurence Prust, he moved to Framlington Group Plc in 1986 where he was the Board member responsible for pension funds. Richard was a member of the Rathbone Brothers Plc Board from March 1996 until May 2012.

Richard McCourt started his career at W.I Carr which later became part of Investec Wealth & Investment. His time there included fifteen years as an investment manager. He has subsequently worked for BNP Paribas, Williams de Broë and Investec focussing on investment process design and risk management.

Richard joined Rathbones as Head of Investment Process and Risk in September 2014 and is a member of the Investment Executive. Richard graduated from Durham University with a degree in psychology and has an MBA from Cranfield School of Management.

Richard is a graduate of the London School of Economics and has been working within the financial services industry for ten years. Since joining Rathbones in January 2009 he has successfully obtained Chartered status and is now a Fellow of the Personal Finance Society.  Richard provides holistic financial planning to High Net Worth clients and has extensive knowledge and experience in advising clients on: their pensions and meeting specific retirement objectives; structuring investments to maximise tax efficiency; protecting themselves and their families in the event of death or long-term illness; estate planning and the mitigation of inheritance tax.

Robert Crawshaw

Robert is an investment director at Rathbones having joined in 2013 and manages a broad range of private client portfolios, charities and self-invested pension schemes. He was previously associate director at Brewin Dolphin and has over 10 years investment experience. He is a Fellow of the Chartered Institute of Securities and Investment and holds a degree in Economics from Exeter University.

Robert is a member of Rathbones’ International Investment Committee working in partnership with specialist financial advisors across Europe to provide investment management services to non UK resident clients. In addition, he is a member of the Collectives Investment Funds Committee which has the responsibility of research and selection of third party funds for the group. He is a regular contributor within the national press and has previously consulted with the financial services regulator and the government on industry related issues. Robert lives in West London with his wife and two children.

Robert Goodchild joins us as an investment director from Taylor Young Investment Management Ltd and manages a range of private client, trust, charity and SIPP portfolios.

Robert began his career at Scrimgeour Kemp-Gee Ltd in 1982 before moving to Greig Middleton in 1991 and subsequently joining Taylor Young Investment Management Ltd in 2004. Robert is a Chartered Member of the Chartered Institute for Securities & Investment.

Robert is an Investment Director and he has over 20 years experience managing portfolios for wealthy private clients, trusts, pensions and charities.

After University, RMA Sandhurst and serving as an Army Officer for four years, Robert joined the City stockbrokers Laurence Keen that was acquired by Rathbones in 1995. He is qualified as a Chartered Wealth Manager and is a Chartered Fellow of the Chartered Institute of Securities and Investment.  Robert has had a number of senior roles within the business and is currently Deputy Head of the London office.

Robert is a Non-executive Director of the social impact investment company, Investing for Good, and is on the Court of the Haberdashers’ Company.  Previously he has served in a number of charity, civic and church roles including being an elected member of the City of London Corporation’s Common Council for eight years, during which time he served as Chairman of both the Investment Committee and the Financial Investment Board.

Robert Szechenyi

Bob Szechenyi is an investment director, having joined Rathbones in October 2000.  He runs a desk with fellow investment directors Richard Lanyon, Randolph Churchill, David Bassett and investment manager Stuart Furzer.  The desk manages in excess of £850m.

Bob is a Fellow of the Chartered Institute for Securities and Investment and manages discretionary private client investment portfolios, together with a number of charities, personal pension schemes, off shore bonds and family trusts. 

He is a member of the Rathbones Collective Funds Investment Committee, and has responsibility for the research, selection and ongoing monitoring of structured products for the group. 

In addition, Bob helped launch the International team in 2015 which manages Sterling, Euro and Dollar portfolios for clients of International advisers and in 2017 the team was named Best International Discretionary Fund Manager at the annual International Investment awards

Bob is also responsible for communicating Rathbones investment views to the media and is quoted regularly in the national press.

Pages
