  • The Rathbone Asia ex-Japan fund has surpassed $100m in assets under management in less than a year since launch
  • The fund focuses on delivering a genuinely active and truly differentiated approach to investors seeking exposure to the growth available in Asia
  • It has attracted a range of high-quality investors, many of them first-time investors for Rathbones Asset Management

The Rathbone SICAV Asia Equity Fund has passed $100 million in assets under management less than a year after launch by Rathbones Asset Management.  The fund, run by Lisa Lim, aims to capture the long-term potential of Asian markets with a strong focus on capital preservation.

Rathbones Asset Management says the response reflects client appetite for a differentiated approach to a region where major indices have become increasingly concentrated.

Lisa Lim, Head of Asia ex-Japan Equities, Rathbones Asset Management, said: “Investors are looking for long-term conviction, a strong focus on capital preservation, and a clear and repeatable investment process.  Judging from the positive response since launch, I am glad we can provide a differentiated solution to serve our clients’ need.  I am grateful for the support we received from old and new investors, of which many are first time clients for Rathbones Asset Management.”

“Major Asian equity indices are driven by price momentum, with little consideration of long-term company fundamentals or valuation,” said Lim. “At current levels of concentration, there is a lot of inherent and often unnoticed risk in the index. For long-term investors, passive investing or index tracking may not fully reflect the long-term and diversified economic potential of the Asian region.”

Lim added: “We remain optimistic about what we believe will be Asia’s growth decade, driven by demographics, middle-class wealth formation and the remarkable technology and innovation progress across the region.”

Tom Carroll, CEO, Rathbones Asset Management, said: “Surpassing $100 million so soon after launch is a strong endorsement of the fund and the proposition behind it. It demonstrates that there is real client appetite for differentiated, genuinely active investment strategies, alongside confidence in the experience and investment approach of the fund manager.

“Importantly, it illustrates our commitment to bringing in new teams, supporting their growth ambitions, and delivering exceptional investment solutions to our clients. Our focus remains on giving talented fund managers the autonomy to invest with conviction and the platform to deliver for our clients.”
