Mark has worked as a financial adviser and latterly as an investment manager for over 30 years. He joined Rathbones in 2015 following a 13 year career with Gerrard and Barclays Wealth.

Since 2007, Mark has worked with a large number of specialist professionals in personal injury and Court of Protection, aiding lay and public authority deputies with the wealth management and broader finances of an extremely vulnerable client base. He is a proud supporter of Headway East London, Headway Blackpool and Wyre & Fylde, raising charitable donations with his team from various events and adventures over the past decade. Mark is a member of the Chartered Institute for Securities and Investment.

Paul joined Rathbones in 2015 having spent 25 years with Gerrard and its predecessor companies which subsumed into Barclays Wealth.

Since 2007, Paul has worked with a large number of specialist professionals in personal injury and Court of Protection, aiding lay and public authority deputies with the wealth management and broader finances of an extremely vulnerable client base. He is a proud supporter of Headway East London, Headway Blackpool and Wyre & Fylde, raising charitable donations with his team from various events and adventures over the past decade.

Rupert Heggs

Rupert has over 30 years’ investment management experience. He specialises in the management of domestic, international private client and charitable portfolios. He is responsible for the investment management of personal injury and Court of Protection portfolios. He joined Rathbones in 2001 having previously been a director at Flemings, where he started his City career in 1987.

He is a member of Rathbones International Stock Selection and Corporate Governance and Stewardship Committees.

Rupert is a Chartered Fellow of the Chartered Institute for Securities and Investment and holds an MBA in International Management of Financial Services.

Amy Kirby

Amy is an assistant investment manager within Rupert Heggs’ team. She supports the management of domestic, international private client and charitable portfolios. She is increasingly responsible for the investment of personal injury and Court of Protection portfolios. She joined Rathbones on an apprenticeship scheme in 2013. Amy is a member of the Rathbones Fixed Income Collectives Committee.

She is a Chartered Fellow of the Chartered Institute of Securities and Investment, having obtained the Chartered Wealth Manager qualification in 2017. In doing so, she became the youngest person to ever achieve this qualification aged 21.

Chris Gardner

Chris has over 13 years' investment management and financial planning experience. He is a specialist in providing advice to recipients of personal injury and clinical negligence awards.

Chris works closely with clients, their families, legal representatives, trustees of personal injury trusts and deputies appointed by the Court of Protection. 

He is experienced working with a wide range of claimants, including minors and brain-injured clients. Chris prides himself in providing solutions tailored to the individual needs of each client, depending on their circumstances, financial sophistication as well as the nature and severity of their injuries enabling them to make informed decisions to ensure they maximise their lifestyle without jeopardising their future security.

When he is not helping his clients he enjoys spending time with his family, travelling and experiencing new cultures. Chris is a founding member of the North West fundraising group for the Child Brain Injury Trust.

He is a Chartered Member of the Chartered Institute for Securities & Investments and a Chartered Financial Planner of the Chartered Insurance Institute.

Harpal Sra

Harpal has 13 years of experience in investment management. He joined Rathbones as a specialist personal injury and Court of Protection adviser having previously held this role at Barclays Wealth and Tilney.

He advises families, public authority bodies, leading law firms on the financial affairs of extremely vulnerable clients and individuals who have received a personal injury award. Harpal is a proud supporter of the Child Brain Injury Trust, raising charitable donations and organising events.

Harpal is a Chartered Investment Manager and a Chartered Financial Planner. He was previously ranked by eprivateclient as a top 35 under 35 adviser.

Kat Harrington-Milne

Kat has worked with recipients of personal injury awards for 20 years. She provides specialist advice to clients, professional and lay deputies and guardians, and trustees of personal injury awards.  Kat joined Rathbones in 2020 from Barclays Wealth. 

Kat is passionate about helping her clients, together with their legal representatives, take control of their financial future.  Her goal is to ensure every client can make informed decisions, driven by a clear understanding on how this might affect their long term financial position.  Her advice is tailored to the individual needs of each client, depending on their circumstances, as well as the nature and severity of their injuries. 

She is a Charted Member of the Chartered Institute for Securities & Investments and a Chartered Financial Planner of the Chartered Insurance Institute. Kat is working towards the Society of Trust and Estates Practitioners Diploma. 

When not helping clients, Kat attempts to train her sproodle.

 

 

Charlie Head

Charlie joined Rathbones in April 2020 following the acquisition of Barclays Court of Protection and Personal Injury team, where he was a specialist wealth manager.

Since graduating in 2014 with a degree in Economics, Charlie has over five years’ experience in the provision of specialist investment advice for recipients of personal injury awards and their legal representatives, including lay and professional deputies and trustees, to ensure that they are able to enjoy the best possible quality of life without compromising their financial security.

Charlie is an active supporter of Cerebra, a national charity helping children with brain conditions and their families, and most recently took part in the 2019 Prudential RideLondon on their behalf.

Charlie is a member of the Chartered Institute for Securities and Investment and the Chartered Insurance Institute.

Paul is a Chartered Financial Planner with over 25 years’ experience.

He provides financial advice for clients and their representatives, enabling them to make informed decisions to ensure they maximise their lifestyle without jeopardising their future security.

Paul is a member of the personal injury and Court of Protection team, providing independent financial advice and tax structuring for personal injury claimants and clients in later life, working with Court of Protection deputies, trustees and individual clients.

In his spare time he is a director for Cranleigh Riding for the Disabled.

James Kyle

James is an investment director in the Rathbones Newcastle office having helped establish the office in the city in 2013.  He started his career in the wealth management industry in 1998 and has previously worked at Brewin Dolphin and UBS.  James is part of the specialist personal injury and Court of Protection team at Rathbones and has advised deputies and connected individuals in this area for over a decade.

James graduated in Law from Newcastle University in 1998, holds the Chartered Institute of Securities and Investment (CISI) Diploma and is a Chartered Fellow of the CISI.  He currently sits on the Appeals Committee of St Oswald’s Hospice charity and is a former trustee of the Great North Air Ambulance Service.

Kirstie joined Rathbones in February 2013 to assist in establishing the Newcastle office. Previously she spent over 25 years working for Lloyds Private Banking and Lloyds TSB Independent Financial Advisers. Kirstie is part of the specialist personal injury and Court of Protection team at Rathbones and has advised deputies and trustees in this area for over a decade.

Kirstie qualified as a Chartered Financial Planner in 2007 and became a Fellow of the Personal Finance Society in 2008.  She specialises in the provision of holistic financial planning to high-net-worth individuals.

Gill Fleming

Gill is an investment manager and a Chartered Fellow of the Institute for Securities.

She is responsible for managing portfolios for private clients and personal pensions (SIPPs). She has also built up expertise in the field of portfolio management for trusts, Court of Protection work and charities.

After graduating from Exeter University, Gill went on to complete a postgraduate qualification. Having spent many years teaching economics at undergraduate level, she embarked on a total career change in 2002 and passed the necessary stockbroking and investment management exams before beginning to build up a business on her own, largely by referral. Gill worked at Redmayne Bentley, Charles Stanley and Brewin Dolphin before joining Rathbones in 2018.

John Hunt

John joined Rathbones in 2020, following a near-twenty year investment career at Barclays. 
 
In 2016, John took on management of Barclays’ Court of Protection (CoP) and Special Interest (SI) book, representing the most vulnerable component of Barclays’ discretionary proposition. This involved a tailored style of management sensitive to the unique nature of each set of client circumstances.
 
Prior to specialising in CoP and SI work, John managed private client, offshore bond, trust and pension portfolios for Barclays’ Northern Ireland discretionary book. He served on Barclays’ Fixed Income Collectives Committee, and was latterly responsible for the allocation of Government Debt and European equity within the firm’s regional models.
 
John graduated from the University of Sheffield in 2000, and is a Chartered Fellow of the Chartered Institute for Securities and Investment.

Ned Fox

Ned joined Rathbones in 2020, having started his career at Smith & Williamson in 2009 where he managed a range of private client, pension and trust portfolios. He was the firm’s specialist on the UK banks sector, as well as leading collective research into UK equity and alternative credit funds.

Ned graduated from the University of St Andrews in 2009, and is a CFA charterholder and a Chartered Fellow of the Chartered Institute for Securities and Investment.
