Rowland began his investment career in 1997 at Fleming Private Asset Management (subsequently acquired by JP Morgan Chase) where he built up a solid grounding in equity research before becoming a private client portfolio manager. In 2001, he joined HSBC Investment Management, where he was made a director and ultimately responsible for a team managing over £200m of assets.Rowland moved to PSigma Investment Management as an investment director in 2005, making a significant contribution to the firm’s expansion during his six years managing private client, trust, SIPP and offshore bond portfolios. He joined the Liverpool office of Rathbones in January 2012 as an investment director.At Rathbones, Rowland specialises in the management of discretionary portfolios for private clients, including trusts, pensions and other investment vehicles. He is a member of the Financial Advisor Specialist Group and has previously sat on the Rathbones Stewardship Committee.He graduated from Newcastle University in 1997 with 2:1 BSc (Hons) degree in Rural & Environmental Economics. In 2001 he was made a Chartered Fellow of the Chartered Institute for Securities and Investment. Outside of Rathbones, Rowland also acts as a trustee, providing investment oversight, for a large educational charity with assets of approximately £30m.
