Alex Neilson is an Investment Director in our Liverpool office and joined Rathbones at the start of 2023, previously having worked at Investec in London and more recently Cazenove Capital in Chester & Manchester.

He has over 10 years of investment and portfolio management experience looking after complex family arrangements, charities, pensions, trusts and has a particular interest in owner managed businesses and entrepreneurs.

Alex is a Chartered Fellow of the Chartered Institute for Securities and Investment, holds the Chartered Wealth Manager qualification and has 11 years of investment experience.

Alex is also the host of our Success Stories video series, where Rathbones colleagues share their career stories and advice.

Ryan joined Rathbones as an Investment Director in June 2023 and specialises in working with Independent Financial Advisers to construct and manage bespoke investment portfolios. Having spent the last ten years working in this space at Investec Wealth & Investment, Ryan prides himself on providing the highest level of service to advisers and their clients.

Ryan holds the CISI Level 7 Chartered Wealth Manager qualification, Investment Advice Diploma and has sat on the committee for the CISI Liverpool, Chester and North Wales. He obtained his M.B.A (Finance) in 2009 and also holds a Bachelors degree in Economics and Political Science from Hartwick College, NY.

James joined Rathbones in 2023 as Head of Investments, Charities, following his previous role as Co-Head of Investments at CCLA Investment Management, where he was responsible for the management of their multi-asset and global equity funds. 

James has a BA in History from Leicester University, is a Chartered Fellow of the CISI (FCSI) and holds a Certificate in Business Accounting.

Charlotte is an Investment Manager and has worked in private client fund management since 2016. She joined Rathbones following three years working with Land Rover.

Charlotte manages investments for private individuals, family trusts and charities. In 2022, she was invited to join PIMFA's Under 40 Leadership committee.

She graduated from the University of Exeter in 2013 with a BA Hons in Politics. Charlotte is a Fellow of the CISI (Chartered Institute for Securities and Investments) having obtained the Investment Advice Diploma and the Chartered Wealth Masters in 2019.

Charlotte is an Investment Manager and has worked in private client fund management since 2016. He joined the team in January 2020 and now manages investment portfolios on behalf of private clients who have a particular focus in ethical and sustainable investment. Prior to joining Rathbones he had 10 years experience working in financial planning as well as an investment analyst, specialising in global equities and investment trusts. David is passionate about investment markets and has experiences across the financial services sector.

David read Economics at the University of Manchester, graduating in 2010. Since then he has also obtained the Diploma for Financial Advisers (DipFA), the CFA UK's Investment Management Certificate (IMC) and Environmental, Social and Governance (ESG) Certificate and also holds the Chartered Financial Analyst (CFA) designation.

He also works closely with intermediaries, complementing their advice on matters such as wealth structuring, tax efficiency, and intergenerational planning.

Max graduated from the University of Surrey in 2021, with a First Class Honours degree in Economics & Mathematics. Max joined Rathbones in September 2023 after two years of experience working at an Independent Financial Advisory firm.

Max is a member of the Personal Finance Society, having completed his Level 4 CII Level 4 Diploma in Regulated Financial Planning in March 2023. Max also holds the CII Level 4 Certificate in Discretionary Investment Management as well as the CFA Society's Level 4 Investment Management Certificate (IMC). He is currently studying toward the Level 7 CISI Chartered Wealth Manager qualification.

Louisa joined Rathbones in 2023 after accumulating four years of experience within the St James's Place Investment division at Rowan Dartington. She is an Associate Member of the CISI, completing her Investment Advice Diploma in February 2023.

Hannah began her career at Rathbones in 2014, carrying out various roles in Operations before moving to Investment Risk where she worked for 4 years monitoring Investment Managers and conducting project work implementing industry regulation. Hannah moved to her role as Assistant Investment Manager in March 2020.

Hannah holds an honours degree in Anatomy and Human Biology from the University of Liverpool. She has completed the Investment Advice Diploma and holds the CISI Chartered Wealth Manager qualification.

David also has expertise working with multi-generational family businesses, managing all their investment needs and helping them to both grow and preserve their wealth. He began his career in financial services in 1997 with Greig Middleton who became Gerrard and eventually Barclays Wealth. David joined RBC Brewin Dolphin in 2010 before moving to Rathbones in 2023. A Fellow of the Chartered Institute for Securities and Investment, David is a Trustee of The Trades House of Glasgow, chairing the Investment Committee. He is also a Trustee of the Incorporation of Maltmen in Glasgow, a charity that supports educational excellence and funds good causes connected to the drinks and hospitality sector. His hobbies include rugby, football and golf.
