Andrew Mays

Andrew Mays leads the Bournemouth Portfolio Management team and is Area Lead for Portfolio Managers across the Southern offices.

Andrew is a member of the Portfolio Construction Committee and the Diversifiers Committee, contributing to firm-wide asset allocation, portfolio construction and diversification decisions. He manages discretionary portfolios for private clients, charities, trusts and intermediaries, and works closely with investment managers to deliver consistent, disciplined outcomes aligned with clients’ objectives.

Prior to joining Rathbones, Andrew spent most of his career at Ruffer, where he was an investment manager working with institutional and charitable portfolios. He has a particular focus and specialisation in hedge funds and alternative investments, including absolute return strategies, and a strong interest in their role within diversified, risk-controlled portfolios. Andrew holds a Master’s degree in Finance from the University of St Andrews and a Bachelor’s degree in Economics from the University of Southampton. He is a Chartered Wealth Manager and holds the CISI Level 7 Diploma in Wealth Management.
