About
Connor Stapley
Connor is a Chartered Financial Planner and Associate Financial Planning Director at Rathbones in Guildford, where he helps private clients, families, trustees and business owners across Surrey, Berkshire, Hampshire, West Sussex and London plan for the things that matter: retiring comfortably, protecting loved ones, and passing wealth on tax-efficiently. He believes good financial planning should feel like a conversation, not a sales pitch.
His advice centres on the areas where clients have the most at stake: wealth preservation, inheritance tax (IHT) and estate planning, trusts, pensions and retirement strategy, and intergenerational wealth transfer. He works alongside clients' solicitors and accountants so that wills, trusts, pensions and investments all pull in the same direction, and uses cashflow modelling to turn complex numbers into a clear, plain-English picture of someone's financial future.
Connor has been advising clients since 2019 and joined Rathbones in 2024. He holds the Advanced Diploma in Financial Planning from the Chartered Insurance Institute (CII), through which he earned Chartered Financial Planner status, and is based at Rathbones' Guildford office on Connaught House, Alexandra Terrace.
Away from the office, Connor recently retired from playing National 1 rugby for his local club Rams RFC but now supports their efforts pitch side. Since retirement he can spend more time tending to a slightly over-ambitious allotment, and loves travelling for the local food, drink and culture wherever he visits. Closer to home, you'll usually find him out and about walking his whippet Twiggy with his girlfriend Amber.
