Gillian van Maaren

Gillian joined Rathbones at the end of 2025 as Group Chief People Officer and is a member of the Group Executive Committee. She has over 20 years of experience as a senior human resources leader across the investment management and broader financial services sectors.

Gillian was previously Partner and Head of Human Resources at Ruffer LLP, where she led the firm’s people strategy and served on the Executive Committee. Her responsibilities included leadership development, succession planning and organisational change.

Prior to this, Gillian led the HR function and was an Executive Committee member at CQS LLP and Jupiter Asset Management, where she supported business growth and organisational development through periods of transformation and international expansion.

Gillian is a Non-Executive Director at Sheffield Haworth and a trustee and governor at St Mary’s Ascot. She is also an accredited Executive Coach (EMCC) and Hogan assessment practitioner, with a particular interest in leadership effectiveness, diversity and inclusion, and organisational performance.
