Polls apart: Navigating America’s divisive election
Last Updated: January 13, 2026
Elections challenge investors’ ability to maintain a calm, dispassionate view like nothing else, and no election exemplifies this better than America’s choice for its next President. When you cut through the fog of the emotive and partisan headlines, the broad features of the investing landscape look like they are here to stay as former President Donald Trump takes on Vice President Kamala Harris – both have embraced protectionism and an active government role in directing investment, and are tolerant of taking on more debt. Yet their two parties agree on little beyond these general principals.

Planning for later life care
Last Updated: January 13, 2026
Thursday 12 September, 12.00pm – 1.00pm
As you go through retirement and into later life, you often move from having more free time to enjoy yourself doing what you love, to things slowing down, downsizing or relocating. Seeking help in the form of care is an important area to plan for financially, and this session will provide an overview of issues to be aware of. The webinar will be led by Paul Sayers, financial planning director, who is an accredited member of the Society of Later Life Advisers.
We will run through some key financial areas that affect later life and address key questions including:
• Can I afford the care I want?
• Will I be able to look after my spouse/partner if they require care and how will that impact me?
• Would a stock market downturn affect my ability to meet my care fees?
• What would happen if I ran out of assets?
• Will my children receive an inheritance?
We will also discuss local authority and state support that could be available and how it works, which can often be a confusing area for many people.
Please note this webinar relates to England and Wales only.
