Appointment of Chief Executive Officer

After achieving a successful period of considerable growth, the board of Rathbones Group Plc (“Rathbones”) announces that Philip Howell will retire as Chief Executive Officer and from the board by the 2019 Annual General Meeting on 9th May 2019. The Board has appointed Paul Stockton as his successor, subject to regulatory approval. Paul has been Group Finance Director of Rathbones for nearly a decade and was appointed Managing Director of Rathbone Investment Management in May of this year.
Rathbones wins Investment Week's Gold Standard Award 2015

Rathbones has won Investment Week’s Gold Standard Award 2015 for Discretionary Portfolio Management for the second year in a row. The accolade, which was also given to Rathbones in 2012, was awarded based on five criteria: financial strength, overall expertise, client service, offering clients fair value and being a trustworthy adviser in which clients can have confidence.

The Education Business Awards, which was sponsored by Rathbones, took place at The Grange Hotel in London on 10 July. The awards recognised schools from all sectors for their excellence, innovation and outstanding achievements in the UK education sector. 20 awards were presented by Sharron Davies MBE. Rathbones awarded the ‘Personal Finance Education Award’ to St Mary’s School, East Sussex at The Education Business Awards, and also presented King’s College School, London with the ‘Outstanding Progress – Independent School Award.’

More recognition at the annual Citywealth and the Better Society Awards

This year’s Citywealth Magic Circle awards took place on Wednesday 10 May and our private client team won the Private Client Asset Manager of the Year (Institutional) award for the second year running. Our team was recognised for its commitment to excellence in client service, leadership and contribution to the profession. Rathbones enjoyed further success on the evening as the charity team were runners up in the Charity Investment Manager of the Year category. This is a category the team has won five times in the last seven years.

An enormous painting of an urban scene strewn with bin bags and graffiti, and overgrown with twisted plants and weeds, is the winner of the John Moores Painting Prize Visitors’ Choice 2014, sponsored by Rathbones. Since the exhibition opened in July, visitors have been voting in their thousands for their favourite work. With such a varied selection people were spoilt for choice between eerie photorealist works, stunning portraiture, landscape and figurative work or intriguing abstract paintings.
