Please be aware that effective today, 8 December 2022, we have changed the names of the Rathbones business units listed below. We have made these minor changes to bring these names in line with the Rathbones Group Plc change we made in December 2021.

John Cubitt

I am responsible for managing investment portfolios for private clients, trusts, corporate clients, pensions and charities. I work closely with each client to build a tailored investment plan, based on their unique requirements and financial objectives, which will ultimately help them achieve their long term financial goals. By also working with both our financial planning team and in-house research team I am able to meet my clients' diverse financial requirements, matching their risk profiles and objectives to investment portfolios that will deliver for them both now and in the future.

Alan Martin

Alan is an investment director for Rathbones Investment Management International and manages a range of private client, trust, corporate and charity portfolios. Alan is a Chartered Member of the Chartered Institute for Securities and Investment. Alan began his career in offshore finance in 1987 with AIB Bank in Jersey and prior to joining Rathbones in October 2012, he was responsible for AIB’s offshore investment proposition.

As an Investment Administrator, I support the Investment Managers who focus on managing investment portfolios for private clients, charities, pensions and trusts with general admin tasks. This takes pressure off of them and allows them to focus more on ensuring their clients have a seamless experience with Rathbones. I deal with all aspects of administration and enjoy liaising with Investment Managers and IFA's on a daily basis to assist in providing the highest level of service.

Rory is an Investment Manager in the Edinburgh office managing portfolios for private clients, trusts, pensions and charities alongside Iain Currie and Clare Gunn. He joined Rathbones in January 2023 having spent almost 5 years as an Associate Director at 7IM, formerly TCAM, in Edinburgh. Rory is a Chartered Member of the Chartered Institute of Securities and Investment and is a Chartered Wealth Manager.

James Swaby

James heads the Regional Portfolio Management Team at Rathbones. He joined the firm in 2014 to establish a team dedicated to the day-to-day management of client portfolios. His team oversees assets across the Birmingham and Cheltenham offices, with responsibility for portfolio strategy, investment performance, and risk governance. James began his career in financial planning before moving into investment management, where he managed multi-asset and bespoke portfolios, and contributed to research and tactical asset allocation.
