Charles Wilcox

Charles has over 25 years' experience managing investments for charities, private clients and associated family trust structures. His principal role is as a senior fund manager with responsibility for over £250m of client money. He also sits on the Stock Selection Committee with particular expertise in UK companies. Charles is also the Rathbone representative on the FTSE/APCIMS Indices Committee. He was educated at Downside School and Exeter University where he attained a 2:1 degree in Economics and Geography.
Craig Leslie

James Hessey

James joined Rathbones in 2016 where he started his career as a graduate trainee. Prior to this, he worked as a paralegal having completed the Legal Practitioners course. James graduated with a second class honours degree in Politics, Philosophy and Economics from the University of York and has a master's degree in Political Philosophy.
James assists with managing private client portfolios, trusts, charities and self-invested personal pensions (SIPPs).
He is a CFA Charterholder and Associate of the Chartered Institute of Securities and Investment (CISI).
Andrew Waddell

Andrew is an investment director and has a broad and growing client base. Honours graduate in Political Studies from Aberdeen University, Andrew is a Chartered Accountant, having trained with Chiene & Tait in Edinburgh. After qualifying as a CA, he joined Edinburgh Fund Managers (now part of Standard Life Aberdeen), working as a fund manager within the group's UK small companies team and then its enlarged UK department.
James Mayes

James is an investment director and is responsible for running portfolios on behalf of private clients, small charities, self-invested pension schemes and trusts. He has a BSc (Hons) in Business Finance and Economics, and is a Chartered Fellow of the Chartered Institute for Securities and Investment.
James joined Rathbones in 1990 after spending a number of years working at Sheppards.
Alistair Beattie

Alistair began his career at Gerrard Vivien Gray in 1996, before joining Brewin Dolphin in 1997, where he spent 23 years managing investments on behalf of private clients, financial advisers, charities and trusts.
Alistair joined Rathbones in 2020 as an investment director and is a Chartered Fellow of the Chartered Institute for Securities & Investment and a Chartered Wealth Manager.
Harry Barr

Harry joined Rathbones in April 2018 having graduated from the University of Leeds with a BSc (Hons) in Biochemistry.
His role as an investment manager involves managing portfolios on behalf of a diverse range of clients which include private clients, personal pensions, family investment companies, charities, trusts and international clients. Harry also has experience managing unit trusts for larger mandates.
Martha Back

Martha joined Rathbones as an investment director in 2016. At Rathbones Martha concentrates on investments for private individuals, their pensions and family trusts, specialising in the management of multi asset investment portfolios. Martha is a qualified Chartered Fellow of the Chartered Institute for Securities and Investments and holds the Securities Institute Diploma.
Lee Bailey

Lee started his career in financial services thirty years ago and has spent much of it advising high net worth individuals, specialising in retirement provision, inheritance tax mitigation and investment planning. Clients particularly value Lee’s attention to detail, listening skills and empathy when discussing theirs and their family’s financial futures. Lee is a Chartered Financial Planner and a Fellow of the Personal Finance Society. He is married to Sarah and has two children.
Nic Mitchell

Nic is an investment director having joined Rathbones in January 2024. He specialises in managing portfolios for private individuals, pension funds, trusts, and companies. He enjoys building long-term relationships with clients to meet their objectives whilst providing the best possible service.Nic graduated from the University of Manchester before embarking on a career in finance. Nearing 20 years of industry experience, he most recently worked as an investment director at Brown Shipley.
Sammy Dow

Sammy co-manages the Rathbones Global Opportunities Fund with James Thomson. He joined Rathbones in July 2014 from JP Morgan Cazenove, where he worked for 14 years in Pan- European Equity Sales providing both primary and secondary advice to Hedge Funds, Institutional and Private clients. Sammy has a Bachelor’s degree from Edinburgh University and completed a Master’s degree at Cambridge University in 2001.
