Bruce is managing director of UK Trust and has gained a wide range of expertise and knowledge from over 30 years practical experience in all areas of corporate, private and charity trust work. Bruce now specialises in family office services for wealthy clients and is also a trustee of a significant grant-giving foundation.
Bruce joined Rathbones in 2002 having worked with Hambros for the previous 25 years managing its private bank and trust business for the majority of that time.
Ian is a Consultant to the Trust Department’s Offshore Business. He qualified as a Chartered Accountant with Peat, Marwick, Mitchell & Co. (now KPMG) in 1975. He was chief executive of Smith & Williamson for ten years from 1985 to 1995, and subsequently chief executive of EFG Private Bank Limited and Tenon Group Plc. He was a director of the Rathbone Brothers Plc until December 2012. He is a committee member of Family Assurance Friendly Society and a director of Miller Insurance Services LLP.
John Duffy is a tax and trust consultant working in Liverpool for Rathbones, offering tax planning advice, administration and accountancy services to trustees, individuals and corporate entities.
John has extensive experience in the trust and taxation field having previously occupied consultant roles at chartered accountancy practices in London and Liverpool.
John has an honours degree in accountancy and is also a qualified member of the Association of Chartered Certified Accountants (ACCA), the Association of Taxation Technicians (ATT) and Society of Trust & Estate Practitioners (STEP). As part of his ongoing commitment to technical development, John sits on the STEP Liverpool Branch Committee.
Jon joined Rathbone Trust Company as a Trust Manager in 2016 and is responsible for all aspects of trust administration for a large portfolio of clients and takes a key role in working with IFAs and their respective clients.
His career started offshore in Jersey in 1997 where he dealt with international HNWI and non-domiciled UK individuals and the complex offshore structures set up to preserve their wealth. Jon moved to the UK in 2005 and has since specialised in Onshore Trust compliance and advisory work but also has experience with Estate Administration and Personal Taxation.
Jon’s excellent communication skills together with his legal, banking and accounting experience enable him to administer all types of trust and advise on a variety of different matters in trust administration. He enjoys building relationships with our clients to better understand their needs.
Jon’s qualifications include a Diploma with the Institute of Chartered Secretaries and Certificates of Competency from the Association of Taxation Technicians in Personal Tax and Estate Administration. Jon is currently a STEP Affiliate and is working towards full membership status.
Kerry is a trust manager joining Rathbone Trust Company in 1997. Kerry heads a team whose wealth of experience can provide trustees with trust taxation, inheritance tax compliance, accountancy and administration services for all types of trust funds. The team works closely with the Trust Company’s personal tax specialists to ensure beneficiaries receive the most tax efficient service possible.
Within the team there are probate specialists who can assist executors by obtaining probate, liaising with HM Revenue & Customs on all areas of tax compliance, preparing estate accounts and full administration services.
Kerry specialises in charity structures and as a charity trustee herself understands the responsibility this brings. Kerry is able to assist trustees with their compliance, including preparation of all types of charity accounts. She has many years of experience and is an associate member of the Association of Charity Independent Examiners. Members of her team can also help trustees with their administration, tailoring a service to suit the charity’s structure and governance.
Kerry is a Member of the Society of Trust and Estate Practitioners (STEP), a Member of the Chartered Institute for Securities & Investment (MCISI) and a Member of the Association of Accounting Technicians (AAT).
Kevin Custis is a director of Rathbone Trust Company Limited and specialises in trust creation, administration and associated tax advice, together with long experience of estate and personal tax planning and executorship work.
Prior to joining Rathbones in 2001 Kevin was a director of Kleinwort Benson Trustees Limited and before that a trust administrator with a leading firm of solicitors and a trust accountant with a leading firm of chartered accountants in London. Kevin is a registered trust and estate practitioner, Legal Executive and the chair of the London Central Branch of the Society of Trust and Estate Practitioners (STEP) whist serving on a number of London and nationwide STEP committees.
Kevin has been a contributing author to the Lexis Nexis Butterworth Tolley reference publications on the administration of estates and trust drafting and precedents where his subjects cover inheritance, income, and capital gains taxes, trust accounting and trust documentation. Other related positions include serving as trustee and treasurer to a number of national and local charities, and lecturing and writing on trust and estate related topics.
Linda Cousins is trust director, joining Rathbone Trust Company Limited in March 2000 from Kleinwort Benson Private Bank. Linda is an associate of the Institute of Bankers and completed the old style Trustee Diploma, beginning her career at National Westminster Bank in 1974. At Kleinwort Benson Linda was responsible for the trusts and financial affairs of the founding families and more recently having overall responsibility for the trustee department.
Lyndsay Lynch is a tax manager, joining Rathbones in 1989 after starting her tax career with a local chartered accountancy firm. Lyndsay has considerable experience, specialising in personal tax compliance as it affects individuals and trusts and enjoys all aspects of private client work. Lyndsay is a member of the Society of Trust and Estate Practitioners (STEP).
Nigel Hoff is a trust administrator, having joined Rathbones in 2002. Nigel works in the London trust department which specialises in the administration of trusts and estates, associated tax advice, tax compliance and personal financial planning advice.
Prior to joining Rathbones, Nigel worked in private practice, having graduated with a degree in accountancy. He has been a member of the Association of Chartered Certified Accountants since 2005, and a Fellow since 2010.
Rachel Lewis is a tax senior, joining Rathbones in 2005 after gaining five years invaluable experience with HMRC. Rachel has a sound, working knowledge which is important when liaising with HMRC on a frequent basis. Rachel specialises mainly in personal taxation but is also involved in VAT compliance for non resident entities. Rachel prides herself on building strong, professional relationships with her portfolio of clients.
Tim Smith is a director of Rathbone Trust Company Limited, and has worked since 1982 in the fields of estate planning and financial services. He joined Rathbones in 2000, having previously worked in the City. He has been a Chartered Tax Adviser since 1986, and is also a member of the Society of Trust and Estate Practitioners.
