David Parsons

Investment director

David is an investment director working alongside Danny Bell and James Blosse-Lynch, managing investment portfolios for private clients, pensions and trusts. He is a Chartered Financial Analyst (CFA) and holds the Investment Management Certificate (IMC). 

Prior to joining Rathbones, David worked at Schroders for six years in the multi-asset investment team. Before moving into financial services David was in the British Army, serving in The Royal Regiment of Scotland.

David is an investment manager jointly manages private client, trust and charity portfolios with Nick Fisher and Christopher James having joined Rathbones in 2001 following the takeover of JP Morgan Chase Fleming. He previously worked with Nick at Flemings and prior to that in Lloyd’s insurance market dealing with members of Lloyd’s. David is a Fellow of the Chartered Securities and Investment Institute.

David is an investment director responsible for managing private client portfolios, self-invested personal pensions, trusts and charities. 

He joined Rathbones in 2014 and has over a decade of investment experience, having worked previously at Jupiter Asset Management and Brown Shipley. Prior to this David graduated from the University of Manchester with a first class honours degree in Economics and Finance. 

He is a CFA charterholder and is a Chartered Member of the Chartered Institute for Securities and Investment (CISI). He sits on the Diversifiers Committee and has a particular interest in behavioural finance and disruptive technology.

David is a keen sportsperson and enjoys travelling in the UK and abroad.

David joined the Kendal office of Rathbones in 2001, having spent over 10 years completing his training and managing high net worth clients for Coutts in London.

David was awarded the Securities Institute Diploma and is a Fellow of the Chartered Institute for Securities and Investment. On an ongoing basis, David continues to receive his annual Statement of Professional Standing from the Institute.

Based in the Kendal office, David manages a range of private client, trust, pension and charity portfolios. In addition, he is a part of the Rathbones Procedures Committee which meets regularly to discuss and review internal processes, and is responsible for coordinating the Rathbones Financial Adviser Specialist Group within the North region.

Dawn Armour

Dawn is an investment manager's assistant, specialising in the administration of charity clients, as part of Rathbones specialist charity team. Dawn is a Chartered Member of the Chartered Institute of Securities and Investments and has more than 30 years of financial industry experience. She started her career at Rathbones in 1987 and as well as administering private clients, has worked within the charity team since its inception.

Dean is an investment director, Chartered Fellow of the Chartered Institute for Securities and Investment and CFA (Chartered Financial Analyst) charterholder. He manages investment portfolios for private clients, trusts and charities.

Dean attended Edinburgh University where he was a member of the Scottish Universities Swimming Team. He joined Speirs & Jeffrey from university in 2006 after graduating with an honours degree in Economics. Speirs & Jeffrey was fully integrated with Rathbones in July 2019.

Denis McSweeney

Denis is an investment director joining Rathbones in 2000, after a long career in stockbroking and investment management. His City career started with a number of years as an authorised dealer on the floor of the London Stock Exchange. In 1980 he began managing portfolios for private clients and a number of significant charities and trusts and, having been a director of Heseltine Moss & Co, he became managing director of Brown Shipley Stockbroking in London. Denis is a Fellow of the Chartered Institute for Securities and Investment.

Diana is a senior investment manager and works alongside Mark Cowan and Tony Smith. Diana graduated from the University of Edinburgh with an honours degree in Business Studies in 2006. After a brief spell at Aberdeen Asset Management as an analyst on the pan European equities desk, Diana moved to Anderson Strathern LLP in 2008 to pursue a career in private client investment management. She joined Speirs & Jeffrey in April 2013, then after spending some time in a client-facing role with Baillie Gifford, returned to Speirs & Jeffrey in November 2017.

Diana is a member of the Chartered Institute for Securities & Investment. She speaks fluent German as well as conversational level Russian. Speirs & Jeffrey was fully integrated with Rathbones in July 2019.

Dominic Meade

Dominic joined Speirs & Jeffrey in the summer of 2016 after two years as an assistant investment manager with Charles Stanley in Edinburgh. Previous to this he worked at Barclays and HSBC.

Dominic works closely with Craig Baxter and is a member of the Chartered Institute for Securities & Investment. In 2017 he achieved the highest mark for the Bond & Fixed Interest Markets exam and the Scottish CISI Diploma Award. Speirs & Jeffrey was fully integrated with Rathbones in July 2019.

Edward James Moore

Edward is an investment director and a Chartered Member of the Institute for Securities and Investment. He specialises in managing portfolios for private individuals, trusts, pension funds, companies and charities. Edward started his career at WH Ireland Stockbrokers before joining HSBC Global Asset Management where he spent nine years and was responsible for managing over £200 million of client assets.

Edward is a trainee investment manager in the investment management team at Rathbones. He joined Rathbones in 2018 following his graduation from the University of Durham, where he achieved a first class honours degree in Natural Sciences. Edward worked with the suitability department before joining the trainee programme in September 2019.

He is a student member of the Chartered Institute for Securities and Investments (CISI) and currently studying for the CISI level 4 Investment Advice Diploma.

Edward supports Rathbones’ investment process with proprietary macro-based, multi-asset research and is a member of the Strategic Asset Allocation Committee.

Starting his career at BlackRock, working with liability-driven solutions for institutions, Edward joined Rathbones in 2014 from Canaccord Genuity Wealth Management, where he was global strategist and co-lead manager of their Risk Enhanced Multi-Asset Portfolio service.

He is a CFA charterholder and a member of the Continuing Education Committee for CFA UK, helping to set the educational agenda for the investment analyst profession and ensuring it keeps abreast of the very latest ideas. Edward has completed a course in Quantitative Economic Methods at Birkbeck, University of London and received an MA from the University of Oxford. He is a member of the Society of Business Economists.

Edward is a published expert on risk management for multi-asset portfolios, recently appearing in Quantitative Approaches to High Net Worth Investment, edited by Andrew Rudd and Professor Stephen Satchell.

Ed is a trainee investment manager and works alongside Tim Bagshaw, Penny Harris and Jo Sword. He joined Rathbones in 2018 following the completion of a BA (Hons) degree in Politics from the University of Exeter.

Ed is a member of the Chartered Institute for Securities and Investments having completed the Investment Advice Diploma in 2019 and is currently working towards the Chartered Financial Analyst (CFA) Program.

Ei May joined Rathbones from Smith & Williamson where she started her career as a graduate in 2014 and progressed to investment manager within three years.

She is a CFA® charterholder and also a Chartered Member of the CISI, having obtained the Investment Advice Diploma. Ei May graduated with first class honours in International Business, Finance and Economics from the University of Manchester.

Ei May works within a team looking after investment portfolios for individuals, families, trusts, pension funds and charities.

Elizabeth Davis

Elizabeth joined Rathbones in January 2005, after graduating from the University of Oxford (Lady Margaret Hall). She holds an MA in Mathematical Sciences. Liz is lead manager on the Rathbone Heritage Fund, and an integral member of our Rathbone Global Sustainability Fund team, with a key role in the development of the investment process. 

Elizabeth supports fund managers on the income mandates through quantitative stock screening and fundamental research on companies. She also profiles relative and absolute risk across the funds.  Prior to joining Rathbone Unit Trust Management, Elizabeth worked on temporary assignments with Accord Holdings Ltd, a media advertising business. She holds the Investment Management Certificate and is a CFA (Chartered Financial Analyst) charterholder.

Elizabeth is an investment director and a Chartered Fellow of the Chartered Institute of Securities and Investment. She is responsible for the management of private client and trustee ethical investment portfolios, with special interest in the development of social enterprise investment. Elizabeth began her career at Laing & Cruickshank Investment Management in 1987 after graduating from the University of Bristol. She moved to Albert E Sharp Investment Management where she launched the UK’s first tailor-made investment service for private clients, trustees and charities in 1992. In 1995 she commissioned influential research into UK companies’ family-friendly employment policies.

Elizabeth moved to Rathbones in 1997 where she and her team, established an ethical investment service going on to found Rathbone Greenbank Investments (specialist ethical investment unit of Rathbones) in 2004. Elizabeth served as head of Rathbone Greenbank Investments from 2004 to 2009 and has been involved in shareholder engagement throughout her career in socially responsible investment.

Elizabeth is an assistant investment manager supporting Rupert Baron, Charles Sargent and Thomas Weston-Davies with discretionary portfolio management, investment selection and client relationships. The team specialises in looking after large family structures, complex private clients, pension schemes and trusts.

Elizabeth and the team aim to give peace of mind to their clients, safe in the knowledge that their wealth is being managed professionally and conscientiously.

She holds a combined honours degree in Economics and Mathematics from Newcastle University and is a Chartered Member of the CISI (Charted Institute of Securities and Investment) having achieved the Investment Advice Diploma. Elizabeth has passed the CFA (Chartered Financial Analyst) II exam.

Elizabeth Savage

Elizabeth is head of research and joined Rathbones in 2005. She is responsible for overseeing the research team and the development and delivery of the investment process including recommendations made by the investment committees. She is also a member of Rathbones’ Investment Executive Committee.

Elizabeth previously worked at Progressive Alternative Investments, a fund of hedge funds, where she was a hedge fund analyst. Elizabeth graduated from Newcastle University and holds the Chartered Alternative Investment Analyst designation.

Elliot Bancroft

Elliot joined Rathbones’ charity team in 2016 from Investec Wealth & Investment, where he spent eight years as an investment manager in the charities team. He has over 15 years' experience of advising and managing private client portfolios and charity investments. As a trustee and treasurer of Shaftesbury Young People, a charity dedicated to the lives of young and disadvantaged children, and a founding trustee of a Chinese arts-based charity, Elliot brings a wealth of experience and insight to helping charities achieve their future growth goals.

Elliot has a BSc in Robotics and Control Engineering and a masters in International Finance from ICMA Business School, Reading University. He successfully completed his Securities Diploma in 2007.

Ellis is a client services executive at Rathbone Greenbank. She is a graduate with a Bachelor of Arts in Accounting and Finance from the University of the West of England. Ellis was awarded the CISI Investment Operations Certificate in November 2018 and is now working towards the CISI Investment Advice Diploma.

Ellis joined Rathbones in March 2016 and previously worked for JP Morgan.

Emma Saunders

Emma is a research analyst and joined the team in December 2014. Emma sits on the collectives research team and carries out quantitative and qualitative analysis to select the “best in class” funds for recommended use within the portfolios managed at Rathbones. Emma graduated with a BSc in Mathematics with Business Management from the University of East Anglia. She holds the Chartered Alternative Investment Analyst (CAIA) designation and is a CFA charterholder.

Emma joined Rathbones in July 2016 as Director of financial planning strategy to oversee the growth of the financial planning team and the development of the strategy. In October 2018 she became the Head of financial planning and has overseen a period of growth with the size of the team more than doubling.

Emma has over 20 years’ experience in financial planning having initially worked in the Financial Planning division of EY and subsequently spent 12 years at Towry where she carried out a number of different roles, seeing the business grow from 40 people to over 1,100. Emma has a degree in linguistics from Reading University and is a Chartered Financial Planner.

Euan MacDonald

Euan graduated from the University of Strathclyde with an MSc in Finance before joining Barclays Private Bank working in London, Geneva and latterly in Scotland. He joined Rathbones in 2014 and specialises in the management of charities and private clients. Euan is a CFA (Chartered Financial Analyst) charter holder, a member of the Chartered Institute for Securities and Investment (CISI) and holds the Investment Management Certificate. He sits on Rathbones Developed Market Equity Committee and is responsible for the research of European investments.

Euan is a guest lecturer at Heriot-Watt University Investment Club focusing on the topics of stock analysis, sustainability and corporate governance. In addition to this he runs open days for students interested in working in the investment management industry.

He sits on the Scottish Council of the Outward Bound Trust and as an active fell runner promotes the benefits of outdoor pursuits in the development of young people.

Evangelos Assimakos

Evangelos is an investment director who joined Rathbones in early 2012. He is responsible for managing a number of portfolios for private individuals, personal pensions, trusts and charities. He is a voting member of the firm’s Strategic Asset Allocation Committee and the Fixed Income Committee. For the last three years, he has also covered fixed income and commodities fund research, sitting on the Respective Collectives Committees. 

Prior to joining Rathbones, Evangelos spent seven years at Turcan Connell Solicitors and Asset Managers, originally working in their compliance department and during the last five years, managing private client portfolios and being responsible for the firm’s fixed income and commodities research as an investment manager. 

Evangelos holds an honours degree in Actuarial Mathematics & Statistics from Heriot Watt University and is a CFA charterholder. He also holds the Investment Management Certificate (IMC) and is a Chartered Fellow of the Chartered Institute of Securities and Investment (FCSI).

Findlay joined Rathbones in 2018 as an investment manager working with James Goodhew and Camilla Hill. Prior to joining Rathbones, he qualified as a Chartered Wealth Manager at Charles Stanley, where he started his career.

Findlay graduated from Loughborough University with a degree in Economics & Finance and is a member of the Chartered Institute for Securities and Investment.

He specialises in managing investment portfolios for private individuals, pensions and trusts, and has a particular interest in equities and investment trusts. 

Fiona Gillespie

Fiona joined Rathbones in October 2019 as an investment director and head of charities for Scotland following her previous role as a senior investment manager at Anderson Strathern Asset Management.  Previous to that, Fiona spent 24 years at Edinburgh Fund Managers and then Aberdeen Asset Management following their acquisition, where she had principle responsibility for managing a number of multi-asset mandates for charity clients.

Fiona holds a Postgraduate Diploma in Investment Analysis from Stirling University, and BA (Hons) in Business Studies from Napier University, Edinburgh. She is an Associate of the Society of Investment Professionals.

She sits as a non-executive director of the Children’s Hospice Association of Scotland (CHAS) as well as being a member of the Finance, Audit and Risk Committee, and is a trustee of the Stafford Trust and Scottish Council for Voluntary Organisations.

Fiona Scade

Fiona joined Rathbones as an investment director in 2016. At Rathbones Fiona concentrates on investments for private individuals, their pensions, family trusts and charities, specialising in the management of multi-asset investment portfolios. She is a qualified Chartered Fellow of the Chartered Institute for Securities and Investments and holds the Securities Institute Diploma. Fiona also holds a Diploma in Financial Planning with the CII.

Having graduated from the University of Nottingham with a 2.1 BSc, Fiona began her career at State Street Global Advisors as a graduate before moving to HSBC Global Asset Management in 2002 where she worked for 14 years in the Discretionary Wealth Management division. Fiona had many roles during her career at HSBC including head of Investment Trust Committee and regional head for the southern region working closely with clients and their advisers but her primary focus has always been on giving excellent service to her clients.

Freddie Bennett

Freddie joined Rathbones as an investment manager in October 2018 and provides highly personalised investment management services for individuals, their pensions and family trusts. He is a Chartered Member of the Chartered Institute for Securities and Investments.

Freddie was previously an investment manager at Quilter Cheviot where he started in 2008. He has a degree in Business and French from the University of Manchester.

Freddie started his career in financial services at the beginning of 2018 when he joined Rathbones. He assists the investment management team in Chichester in various aspects of managing client portfolios. Freddie particularly enjoys building relationships with the team’s clients, understanding their circumstances and goals to provide an excellent service.

Freddie graduated from Queen Mary University of London with a 2:1 in Mathematics. He is an Associate Member of the Chartered Institute for Securities and Investment, having passed the Investment Advice Diploma. He is currently studying towards the Chartered Wealth Manager qualification.

Freddy assists James Pettit and Alex Turnbull in various aspects of managing client portfolios on a day to day basis.

Prior to joining Rathbones, Freddy spent two and a half years at Hargreave Hale working as an investment manager’s assistant on the private client desk. In his studies Freddy attained a BSc Hons in Physical Geography from Newcastle University.

Freddy is a member of the Chartered Institute of Securities and Investments achieving a pass with merit in level 6, Private Client Investment Advice and Management exam. He is currently studying towards the Chartered Wealth Manager qualification.
