London

Having graduated from The University of Exeter in 2011, I began my career in financial planning with Saunderson House (SHL) as part of the graduate trainee programme in 2011, achieving Chartered Status in October 2017.  I spent 18 months away from financial planning, working with a range of financial planners from the provider side, as an account manager with Standard Life (now ABRDN), before returning to Saunderson House (now part of Rathbones Financial Planning following the acquisition of SHL in October 2021) in January 2020, having widened my knowledge of the Financial Planning landscape.

My clients include both current and former partners of accountancy and law firms, navigating the specific compliance requirements that their needs require, whilst ensuring their financial planning needs (including retirement, tax and estate planning) are met.  I enjoy the peace of mind that competent financial planning can provide to clients whose busy lives require their attention elsewhere. Outside of work, I previously played competitive rugby having plied my trade at the National 2 level for the 2019/20 season with Sutton & Epsom RFC.  I also enjoy the cinema and travelling (admittedly where I have my way, this usually has a sporting event that the trip is planned around).

Matt Chick

Financial planning director

Financial planning director

London

Matt has been with Saunderson House since 2005, having graduated from Exeter University. He is a Chartered Financial Planner.

Matt’s focus has always been on the client-facing side of the role and it is speaking to and meeting with clients that he most enjoys. Matt specialises in helping clients to put their wealth into context, plan their futures and enjoy their wealth to the fullest. This will usually help answer questions such as; when can I afford to retire, how much do I need to have saved to do so, how much can I afford to spend each year and can I afford to make gifts to my children.

Ensuring clients build their wealth in the most tax-efficient way, in the most appropriate products and with the appropriate investment strategy are key to the role. Given how busy most clients are, Matt’s focus is on ensuring they receive clear, concise advice and on providing a proactive service.
In his spare time Matt is a keen golfer, enjoys travel and is an ever-optimistic Spurs fan.
