With a 1st class honours degree in Accounting and Finance from Bristol Business School, Ed has been providing personalised advice to clients in Bristol and the South West since 2015.

Beginning his career at Hargreaves Lansdown in 2011, Ed joined Rathbones in 2022. He brings expertise in areas such as protecting wealth, investment and retirement planning, succession and inheritance tax planning, and working with entrepreneurs to plan for their future, all while respecting clients' values and priorities.

In his role at Rathbones, Ed is committed to understanding his clients' aspirations and providing holistic financial planning advice that aligns with their ethical and ESG preferences. Edward is an investment director and a Chartered Member of the Institute for Securities and Investment. He specialises in managing portfolios for private individuals, trusts, pension funds, companies and charities. Edward started his career at WH Ireland Stockbrokers before joining HSBC Global Asset Management where he spent nine years and was responsible for managing over £200 million of client assets.

Edward works as an Investment Manager alongside Joe, Matt and Henry, having supported the team as an assistant for 5 years. Prior to this he worked in various operational roles. He is a Chartered Wealth Manager with the Chartered Institute for Securities and Investments.

Edward joined Rathbones in 2020 as an Investment Director. Prior to Rathbones, Edward worked for 14 years at Brewin Dolphin as a Divisional Director managing discretionary bespoke multi-asset class portfolios for a variety of clients including private individuals, pension funds, corporates, trusts, family investment companies and offshore bonds. Edward worked extensively with Independent Financial Advisers and was a Trustee of the Brewin Dolphin Pension Scheme. 

Edward is a Chartered Financial Analyst and holds a Master’s degree in Finance from Imperial College London.  He also holds the PMI Level 3 Award in Pension Trusteeship.

Edward is Rathbone Investment Management’s co-chief investment officer. Alongside Elizabeth Savage, he has joint responsibility for Rathbones’ research department, the evolution and performance of its investment process, and its responsible investment philosophy. Day-to-day, he focuses on asset allocation and macroeconomic research, risk analytics, fixed income and currency, business development and external communications. He is the Chair of the Strategic Asset Allocation Committee, co-Chair of the Sector Selection and Portfolio Construction Committees, and a founding member of the Responsible Investment Committee. Edward presents frequently to clients and the media on the economic and financial market outlook. He is a regular guest on Bloomberg TV and Sky News.

Prior to this appointment he was Rathbones’ Head of Asset Allocation Research. He joined Rathbones in 2014 from Canaccord Genuity Wealth Management, where he was global strategist and co-lead manager of their Risk Enhanced Multi-Asset Portfolio service. He began his career at Blackrock.

Edward is a Chartered Financial Analyst, and has served on the continuing education committee of CFA UK, for whom he has also helped write position papers, most recently Chairing the working group on the future of Corporate Financial Reporting. He is a published expert on risk management for high net worth individuals, and is a member of the Society of Professional Economists. He has an MA from the University of Oxford and an MSc with distinction in Economic History from the London School of Economics and Political Science (LSE).

Elizabeth joined Rathbones in January 2005, after graduating from the University of Oxford (Lady Margaret Hall). She holds an MA in Mathematical Sciences. Having worked for many years as a quantitative analyst, fundamental analyst and latterly as a fund manager, Liz has been promoted to the role of investment risk director for Rathbone Asset Management.

She profiles risk across the funds, including areas such as liquidity, investment risk and data analysis, and is charged with ensuring the integrity of information that is provided to clients, institutions and the fund managers themselves. She holds the Investment Management Certificate and is a CFA (Chartered Financial Analyst) Charterholder.

Elizabeth Haigh is an investment director and chartered fellow of the Chartered Institute of Securities and Investment. She is responsible for the management of private client and trustee ethical investment portfolios, with special interest in the development of social enterprise investment. Elizabeth began her career at Laing and Cruickshank Investment Management in 1987 after graduating from the University of Bristol. She moved to Albert E Sharp Investment Management where she launched the UK’s first tailor made ethical investment service for private clients, trustees and charities in 1992. In 1995 she commissioned influential research into UK companies’ family friendly employment policies.

Elizabeth moved to Rathbones in 1997 where she and her team established an ethical investment service, going on to found Greenbank Investments (specialist ethical investment unit of Rathbones) in 2004. Elizabeth served as head of Greenbank Investments from 2004 to 2009 and has been involved in shareholder engagement throughout her career in socially responsible investment.

Elizabeth is an Investment Manager delivering a discretionary portfolio management service, specialising in looking after large family structures, complex private clients, and trusts. Within Rathbones she sits on the Overseas Stock Selection Committee.

Elizabeth and her team aim to give peace of mind to their clients, safe in the knowledge that their wealth is being managed professionally and conscientiously.

She holds a combined honours degree in Economics and Mathematics from Newcastle University and is a Chartered Member of the CISI (Charted Institute of Securities and Investment) having achieved the Investment Advice Diploma. Elizabeth is a CFA (Chartered Financial Analyst) charterholder.
