Alfie Saunders

Alfie is a trainee investment manager in the investment management team. He joined Rathbones in 2018 after completing his Bsc (Hons) degree in Finance and Investment from the University of Brighton. Alfie spent his first year at Rathbones in the anti-money laundering team, working on a regulatory project for both the UK and Jersey offices.

He completed the Level 4 Investment Management Certificate (IMC) in 2019.

Ali Johnson

Ali joined Rathbones in April 2016 and was appointed company secretary in May 2016. Prior to joining Rathbones, Ali spent nine years as director of company secretarial services at Signet Jewelers having responsibilities for a wide variety of areas and functions during this time. Ali graduated in Law and is a Fellow of Institute of Chartered Secretaries and Administrators.

Alistair graduated from the University of Stirling in 2011 with an honours degree in Business Law. After an internship at a small fund management business in Glasgow, he joined HSBC’s Global Fund Pricing team in 2012. During his five years at HSBC, Alistair undertook his CISI Investment qualifications.

In May 2017, Alistair joined Speirs & Jeffrey where he worked initially as a suitability manager before moving to the investment team in 2018. He works closely with Adam Drummond and is a Chartered Fellow of the Chartered Institute for Securities & Investment. Speirs & Jeffrey was fully integrated with Rathbones in July 2019.

Amelia Bell

Amelia joined Rathbones in June 2019, having previously worked at Russell-Cooke LLP in their private client team. She qualified as a solicitor in 2016, having trained at a Legal 500 firm in Wiltshire.

Amelia advises on all aspects of private client law including drafting and advising on trusts, powers of attorney, succession planning including drafting complex wills, and estate administration.

She has a particular interest in art and achieved a distinction in her LLM in Art, Business and Law. 

Amos Nelson

Amos works closely with James Fox in the management of investment portfolios for private clients, charities and self-invested personal pensions.

He is a graduate with a Bachelor of Science in Microbiology from the University of Bristol and currently holds the Masters in Wealth Management and the Investment Management and Financial Planning Certificates.

Amos is a Chartered Member of the Chartered Institute for Securities & Investment and sits on our Collectives Research Committee.

Amy is an assistant investment manager within Rupert Heggs’ team. She supports the management of domestic, international private client and charitable portfolios. She is increasingly responsible for the investment of personal injury and Court of Protection portfolios. She joined Rathbones on an apprenticeship scheme in 2013. Amy is a member of the Rathbones Fixed Income Collectives Committee.

She is a Chartered Fellow of the Chartered Institute of Securities and Investment, having obtained the Chartered Wealth Manager qualification in 2017. In doing so, she became the youngest person to ever achieve this qualification aged 21.

Andrea Hanley

Andrea joined Rathbones in April 2015 as an investment manager and specialises in the management of charities and private clients as well as looking after pension and trust portfolios.

Andrea started her career with Brewin Dolphin in April 2004 and has achieved her Diploma in Investment Compliance and her Private Client Investment Advice and Management qualification.  She is also a Chartered Fellow of the Chartered Institute for Securities and Investments (FCSI).

Andrea is an ambassador for Rathbones Financial Awareness training, speaking to children and young adults to provide an insight into the wider world of money and personal finance as well as an overview of the investment management industry.

In addition, she is a keen supporter of the Beatson Cancer Charity, undertaking fund-raising activities and volunteers as a support carer for South Lanarkshire Council.

Andy is an associate sales director at Rathbones, responsible for the South and the East Midlands. He joined Rathbones in September 2014, having spent over two years as a senior client relationship manager for Schroders. Andy brings over 10 years’ sales’ experience, having also worked at M&G in a variety of client-focused roles.

Andrew is an investment director with over 25 years’ experience of managing discretionary investment portfolios for private individuals, their pensions and family trust structures. He also manages investments for charities including a City Livery Company.

After graduating from Durham University, Andrew joined the City stockbroking firm of Laurence Keen and qualified as a Chartered Fellow of the Chartered Institute for Securities & Investment. Laurence Keen was acquired by Rathbones in 1998.

Andrew is responsible for Rathbones’ Investment Management business in the UK outside London. He also manages a large number of client portfolios. He has spent his entire working career at Rathbones in private client investment management and joined the Group Executive Committee in July 2015.

Andrew Sanders

Andrew is an investment director responsible for the investment management of private clients, trusts, charities and self-invested personal pension (SIPP) accounts. He started his working life with Cazenove in London and Salisbury, moving up to Edinburgh in 1994 to work for Ivory & Sime Private Clients before helping to arrange its sale to Rathbones in 1998. He has over 26 years' experience in financial markets and is a member of the Chartered Institute for Securities and Investment.

Within Rathbones, Andrew sits on the Stock Selection Committee for Rathbones Investment Management, and the Broker Selection Committee. He has a specialist interest in oil exploration and production stocks, and mining companies.

Andrew Waddell

Andrew is an investment director and has a broad and growing client base. Honours graduate in Political Studies from Aberdeen University, Andrew is a Chartered Accountant, having trained with Chiene & Tait in Edinburgh. After qualifying as a CA, he joined Edinburgh Fund Managers (now part of Standard Life Aberdeen), working as a fund manager within the group's UK small companies team and then its enlarged UK department.

Andrew joined Speirs & Jeffrey in 1999. He is a member of the Chartered Financial Analysts Society of the UK. Formally a director of Speirs & Jeffrey, he was responsible for the oversight of the firm’s research department.  He is a governor of The Glasgow Academy and acts as trustee for a number of external organisations. Speirs & Jeffrey was fully integrated with Rathbones in July 2019.

Andrew is an investment director with the Rathbone’s charities team based at our Liverpool office. He has extensive knowledge and experience of helping private individuals, charities and not for profit organisations to achieve their long term financial objectives throughout a career spanning 20 years working within the investment management industry.

Andrew began his career after graduating from the University of Manchester with a degree in Middle Eastern Studies, joining Gerrard Investment Management Ltd in 2002 where he qualified as an investment manager. He subsequently became a charity investment advisor with Barclays Wealth at their Birmingham office before joining Rathbones in 2019.

Andrew is a Chartered Fellow of the Chartered Institute for Securities and Investment and has held their full CISI Diploma since 2003.

 

Andy Pitt

Andy graduated from Exeter University with a first class honours degree in Chemistry and Law, and subsequently spent three years as a solicitor in the corporate finance team at Freshfields in the early 1990s.

Andy joined Rathbones in June 2014 as an investment director and head of charities, London, following his previous role as head of charities at Newton Investment Management. Andy has also worked at Schroder Investment Management and UBS Wealth Management, and during his career has managed investment portfolios for a wide variety of charities and other not-for-profit organisations, as well as individuals, trusts and corporates.

Andy is a visiting lecturer at the Cass Business School (Centre for Charity Effectiveness), and an external member of the Investment Committee of the Alzheimer’s Society. He is also an Associate Member of the CFA Society of the UK (ASIP) and a Chartered Fellow of the CISI (FCSI). Andy is a keen sportsman with interests in skiing, horses and tennis, whilst enjoying time spent in the garden and with his family.

Andy is a financial planner and has been working in the financial services industry since 2005, and with Rathbones since 2014. Andy holds Diplomas in Financial Planning and Regulated Financial Planning, and is aiming to complete his Level 6 chartered qualification this year.

Andy provides holistic financial planning to high net worth individuals in partnership with investment managers and through the building of long-term client relationships in order to help clients achieve their financial goals.

Andy Webb

Andy joined Rathbones from Brewin Dolphin where he was a divisional director in the Newcastle Office.

Andy is a Fellow of CISI with 27 years experience in the financial service sector having previously worked for Barclays Bank before joining Brewin Dolphin in 1996.

Over the last 20 years, Andy has amassed a wide range of experience in dealing with the fast pace and changing face of investment markets, his knowledge has enabled him to provide an invaluable steer and insight for all of his clients through several market cycles.

At Rathbones Andy is continuing to manage portfolios on a discretionary basis for individuals, trusts, companies, pension funds and charities. 

Angela Smith

Angela is a Chartered Fellow of the Chartered Institute for Securities and Investment and started her investment career in 1992 when she joined Greig Middleton (which became Gerrard). Most recently Angela was an investment manager at Smith and Williamson where she arranged both advisory and discretionary portfolios for a wide range of clients for over eight years.

Angela joined Speirs & Jeffrey in January 2014 and was appointed an investment director in January 2018. She works closely with Russell Crichton. Speirs & Jeffrey was fully integrated with Rathbones in July 2019.

Angus Kerr

Angus is regional director for the Glasgow office. He is a Chartered Wealth Manager and a Chartered Fellow of the Chartered Institute for Securities & Investment. He joined Greig Middleton in 1996 as a graduate trainee fund manager. 

In 1998 Angus joined Murray Johnstone Private Investors and following the take over of Murray Johnstone by Aberdeen Asset Managers he remained with AAM plc as a Fund Manager in the Private Client division.

In 2006 Aberdeen Private Investors was acquired by Brewin Dolphin and Angus joined the firm as divisional director. Angus successfully attained his MBA from Strathclyde University and In 2015 he joined Rathbones to head the Glasgow office and is responsible for the investment management of private clients, trusts, charities and SIPP accounts.

Anique joined Rathbone Greenbank in May 2016, having started her career with Stonehage Fleming in London in 2014.  She has a BSc (Hons) in Business Science from Cape Town University and a masters in Finance and Management from St Andrews University.
Anique is a Chartered Financial Analyst (CFA) charterholder and is an Associate Member of the Chartered Institute for Securities & Investment. 

Ann Watchorn

Ann joined Rathbones in 2007 and works as a client service executive for Robert Hughes-Penney. She has more than 25 years’ experience working in the finance industry.  Prior to joining Rathbones, Ann worked for a firm of accountants/football agents specialising in professional footballers where she was responsible for managing their personal administration.

She has a certificate in Investment Administration level 3 from the Securities & Investment Institute (2009), and obtained a BA (Hons) in Humanities with Classical Studies from the Open University in 2015.

Anna is a trust manager in the London office, advising high net worth families on all aspects of trust and estate matters.  Anna joined Rathbones in 2007 as a trust accountant and qualified as a Chartered Certified Accountant in 2010 before becoming a member of the Society of Trust and Estate Practitioners in 2015.  Anna’s experience of accounting and tax compliance gives her a sound understanding of all aspects of trust and estate administration which her clients value.

Archie Pearson

Archie joined Rathbones in 2018 as a voting & governance analyst. He supports Matt Crossman, on the stewardship team, ensuring informed proxy voting and corporate engagement activities as part of Rathbones’ stewardship policies, and helping to promote the integration of ESG within the investment process.

Prior to Rathbones, Archie worked for Oikocredit in their UK & Ireland office. During his time there, he worked as a client executive, tasked with generating capital from individuals and institutions.

Archie graduated in 2015 from the University of Edinburgh with a masters in Theology.

Arron is the associate sales director at Rathbones, responsible for the South of England. He joined Rathbones in July 2018, having spent over three years as a regional sales manager for Liontrust. Arron brings over 12 years’ industry experience, having also worked at Kames Capital and Transact in a variety of client-focused roles.

Audrey joined Rathbones in early 2017 having previously worked in the industry as a client service executive at Bordier and Cie (UK) Limited. She was later promoted to a senior client service executive whilst working at Bordier.

Audrey graduated, with a 2:1 (Hons) degree, from Bristol University in 2011 and worked as an intern at an investment management firm in the City for one year.

Audrey works as a client service executive for two investment directors, Charles Wilcox and Andrew Dawson Paul.

Ben Derber

Ben joined Rathbones’ research department in 2019 as a generalist covering UK and overseas equities. Ben formerly worked for 10 years as a buy-side analyst at Manulife Asset Management with primary responsibility for the Industrials, Telecommunication Services, and Material sectors in Europe and Japan. His role there included performing in-depth company research, portfolio construction and client communication. He graduated with a 2:1 degree in English Language and Literature from Oxford in 2006 and is a Chartered Financial Analyst (CFA) charterholder.

Ben joined Rathbones following the acquisition of Speirs & Jeffrey, where he initially started on the trainee scheme. 

Ben holds a degree in Industrial Design & Technology from Loughborough University and has completed the Investment Advice Diploma for Securities and Derivatives.  He is also a Chartered Member of the Chartered Institute for Securities & Investment.

Ben works predominantly with Mark Cowan, providing assistance for a wide range of clients including individuals, families, trusts, pension funds and charitable organisations.

Ben joined Rathbones in late 2015 having joined the industry in 2012 as an intern at Butterfield Private Bank. He has since worked his way up through the back office giving him extensive administrative knowledge which he applies to provide a smooth and efficient client experience.

Ben graduated from the University of Aberdeen with a degree in Law (LLB Hons), is an Affiliate of the CISI (Chartered Institute for Securities & Investment) having completed his Investment Advice Diploma.

Ben spent the year prior to joining Rathbones living and working in China working on his Mandarin and immersing himself in the culture.

Ben joined Rathbone Investment Management International in Jersey in May 2019. He is a client manager with responsibility for the growth of the overseas institutional and private client base with an emphasis on the Middle East. Ben, who graduated from Swansea University with a BSc in Mathematics, began his finance career in 2011 at NatWest Offshore in Jersey, where he was an international wealth manager. He subsequently managed a portfolio of high net worth clients at HSBC Expat; and most recently he worked at Brooks Macdonald International as a client manager with a focus on private clients in the Middle East.

Ben is a Chartered Wealth Manager and is a Chartered Fellow of the Chartered Institute for Securities and Investment (CISI), having passed the CISI Certificate in Private Client Investment Advice and Management (PCIAM) with merit. He holds the CISI Investment Advice Diploma (IAD) and the CISI Islamic Finance Qualification. He has recently passed the first paper of the Chartered Financial Analyst (CFA) qualification and plans to continue his studies.

Ben is the head of regional sales (UK), with responsibility for the Rathbones distribution team covering intermediaries in the UK & Ireland. Ben joined the business in 2013 as a regional sales director, responsible for client relationships and strategy within the South West, Channel Islands, Midlands and Wales. Prior to joining Rathbones, Ben was a regional sales manager at AXA Investment Managers covering a similar geographical region mainly focused on the IFA marketplace.

Ben Loughnane

Ben was an advisory small-cap stockbroker in the City from 2004. He then worked for eight years at Ashcourt Rowan where he ultimately managed private client portfolios ranging from SIPPs and ISAs to offshore bonds. Ben is a Fellow of the Chartered Institute for Securities and Investment and has a 2:1 BA (Hons) degree in Economics. He directly supports Mark Winchester and Simon Whitmore whilst building his own client base. 

Ben is married with two children and rugby union and playing music are his main interests outside of work.
