Sophie is responsible for internal communications at Rathbone Brothers plc and media relations for Rathbone Investment Management. With a PR agency background, she has also worked in-house at global organisations including Freshfields Bruckhaus Deringer, White & Case and Alstom. She graduated from the University of Bath with a degree in International Management and French and was a Deloitte Scholar.

Stephen Bennett

Stephen Bennett is an investment manager,  assisting in the management of private client, company and charity investment portfolios and is also a member of Rathbones’ Collectives Research Committee with responsibility for UK collective fund research.  Stephen graduated from Exeter University in 2006 with a Masters degree in finance and investment and is a Chartered Member of the Chartered Institute for Securities and Investment. 

Following a short career as a professional rugby player with Exeter Chiefs, Stephen started as a trainee portfolio manager with Charles Stanley in 2008. He joined Rathbones in 2010

Stephen Hunter is Deputy Regional Manager of the Edinburgh Office.  He specialises in the management of investments for private clients, trusts, and personal pension funds.

Prior to joining Rathbones, he spent 15 years with Cornelian Asset Managers where he contributed to the early development of this smaller independent firm.  He trained with ABN AMRO Asset Management where he joined as a graduate from University of Edinburgh in 1996. 

He has long experience of working with financial advisers and is a member of the Rathbones IFA Investment Committee.  He is also interested in investment technology and systems and sits on the Front Office IT committee. 

Stephen is an Associate of the Society of Investment Professionals and a member of Chartered Institute for Securities and Investment.

Stephen Quick, CFA is an Investment Manager at Rathbones Investment Management, providing discretionary investment management services for private clients, pension funds, charities and trusts. Stephen is a Chartered Financial Analyst (CFA) Charterholder, Chartered Fellow of the Chartered Institute for Securities & Investment and an Affiliate Member of the Society of Trust and Estate Practitioners (STEP). Stephen graduated from the University of York with a BSc (Hons) in Economics. Stephen is a member of the Rathbones Financial Adviser Specialist Group and regularly presents at financial adviser events. He is also an active speaker regarding trustee investment responsibilities for private trusts and charities. Stephen has helped to run Rathbones' financial awareness programme - a national initiative which aims to increase the financial awareness of young individuals. As part of this programme, Stephen speaks to over 1,000 sixth form pupils each year and hosts financial workshops in schools. Stephen also offers annual work placement opportunities to a select number of students wishing to pursue careers in the financial industry.”

Stephen Wright is an investment director and has over 30 years' experience in the business. He currently specialises in the management of private clients, self-invested personal pensions and charity portfolios.

Stephen is a Chartered Fellow of the Chartered Institute of Securities and Investments (CISI) and sits on the Procedures Committee and SEC Steering Committee within Rathbones.

Steve Bilbao is a senior tax manager, joining Rathbones in 1984 as a tax senior specialising in personal and trust tax compliance. Prior to joining Rathbones he started work as a trainee tax assistant with accountancy firm Pannell Kerr Forster in 1973.

Stephen Thornton is an investment director with over 25 years experience of managing private client, trust and charity portfolios.   Having started his career with Vickers da Costa, he joined Laurence Keen in 1992 prior to its acquisition by Rathbones in 1995.   Stephen is a Chartered Fellow of the Chartered Institute of Securities and Investments (CISI) and a Trustee of the Laurence Keen Retirement Benefits Scheme.

Steven Haines

Steve joined Rathbones in 2014 and has been responsible for developing a substantial client base, managing a variety of private client portfolios, trusts and pension funds.

He started his career at Williams de Broë (now Investec) in 2011 assisting a team of three investment directors. During this time he completed the Investment Advice Diploma.

He is a Chartered Member of the Chartered Institute for Securities & Investment, completing the CISI Masters in 2016.

Steven Macgowan is an investment manager.  Prior to joining Rathbones in July 2010, he spent two years with HBOS’s Portfolio Management Service.  He holds an honours degree in Accounting as well as the Investment Advice Diploma (IAD), the Private Client Investment Advice & Management Certificate (PCIAM), and a Masters in Wealth Management.  Steven is an Associate of the Chartered Institute for Securities & Investment (ACSI).

Stuart Furzer

Having joined Rathbones in 2011, Stuart is an investment manager and works alongside Bob Szechenyi, Richard Lanyon, Randolph Churchill and David Bassett. The desk manages in excess of £850m.

Stuart is a Chartered Member of the Institute for Securities and Investment and manages discretionary private client investment portfolios, together with a number of charities, personal pension schemes, offshore bonds and family trusts.

He is a member of the International team which manages multi-currency portfolios for clients with international advisers and is responsible for the research, selection and ongoing monitoring of bespoke investment solutions. 

In 2017 the team was named ‘Best International Discretionary Fund Manager’ at the annual International Investment awards.

Susan Stevenson

Susan is an investment director in our Glasgow office with over 25 years of investment experience.

After graduating from Strathclyde University, Susan started a traineeship with Campbell Neil in Glasgow. She then joined Coats Viyella Pension Fund as a UK equity fund manager before returning to her roots as a Private Client Investment Manager with Brewin Dolphin.

Susan is a Chartered Wealth Manager and Chartered Fellow of the Securities Institute.

Susan joined Rathbones in June 2015 and is responsible for the investment management of Private Client portfolios, SIPPs and Charity funds.

Thomas Croft

Thomas Croft supports and monitors the effectiveness of Rathbones’ investment process as a Research Management Analyst.

Thomas joined Rathbones in December 2014, initially working as a Portfolio Modelling Assistant within a large private client team. He later went on to work as an Investment Manager’s Assistant supporting an Investment Director with the management of client’s investment portfolios.

Thomas graduated from the University of Hertfordshire in 2014, with a first-class honours degree in Mathematics.

Thomas joined Rathbones in May 2012, after graduating from the University of St Andrews with a honours degree in History. He is a CFA (Chartered Financial Analyst) charterholder. He is also an Associate of the Chartered Institute for Securities and Investment, having obtained the Investment Advice Diploma.

Thomas specialises in managing the investment portfolios for private individuals, pensions, trusts and charities. Within Rathbones he sits on the Developed Equities committee covering Global Equity Investment Trusts.

Tiffany joined Rathbones in 2012.  She manages investment portfolio for a variety of private clients, charities, trusts and family office arrangements.  Tiffany is a member of both the Rathbones’ UK Stock Selection and the Diversifiers Committees.

Tiffany completed her GDL and LPC at BPP Law School and began her career as a trainee specialising in employment law and industrial relations.  She joined Taylor Young Investment Management in 2007.    

 

Tim Bagshaw

Tim joined Rathbones in March 2006 and manages discretionary portfolios for private clients, pension funds, trusts and charities.  He is also a member of the Investment Executive Committee and chairman of the Diversifiers Committee. 

Tim is a Fellow of the Chartered Institute for Securities and Investment and has a joint honours degree from Edinburgh University in Politics and Economic History.  Prior to joining Rathbones, Tim worked for nine years as an investment manager at Kleinwort Benson where he sat on the Asset Allocation Committee and the Overseas Stock Selection Committee.  He is married with three children and lives in Suffolk.

Tim Bolton Carter is a regional director, managing a wide variety of investment portfolios. After graduating from Exeter University with an economics and politics degree Tim studied accountancy with Arthur Young before joining James Capel in the City of London. He is a Chartered Fellow of the Chartered Institute for Securities and Investment.

Tim Ford is an investment director for Rathbone Investment Management International and manages a range of private client, trust and charity portfolios. Tim is a Chartered Member of the Chartered Institute for Securities and Investment and holds the Investment Advice Certificate and the Certificate in Investment Management. He sits on both the Rathbone Fixed Income and Collectives committees and has particular responsibility for research and selection of 'best-of-breed' Japanese funds for the group.

Tim began his career in 1998 with the Bank of New York in London and moved to Jersey in 1999 to join Cater Allen Investment Management, which was acquired by Close International Asset Management in 2001. Tim was responsible for managing private client investment portfolios and was part of the investment team that was responsible for managing the award winning multi-manager, multi-asset Close All Weather Fund.

Tim Hubbard is an investment director looking after private client portfolios, trust, charities and pension funds.  He is a Fellow of the Chartered Institute for Securities and Investment and has a BA Hons degree in English from University College London and a diploma in Law from the University of Westminster. Prior to joining Rathbones in 1999 he read for the Bar.

Tim Johnson is an investment director with 22 years experience of managing private client investment portfolios.  He joined Rathbones in August 2000 having previously worked at Kleinwort Benson Private Wealth Management where he managed private client portfolios and also had responsibility for researching the pharmaceuticals and telecoms sectors.

He manages discretionary private client investment portfolios, together with a number of charities, city livery companies, personal pension schemes and bespoke unit trusts for large family groups, often within complex trust structures.  

Tim is a member of the Rathbones Investment Executive Committee which has responsibility for the investment process, its monitoring and ongoing development. He is also a member of the Collective Funds Investment Committee, which has responsibility for the research, selection and ongoing monitoring of “best-of-breed” funds for the group.

On graduating with an honours degree majoring in Economics, Tim was commissioned from Sandhurst into The Blackwatch where he served for 5 years. He is a Chartered Fellow of the Chartered Institute for Securities and Investment.

 

Tim Shaw

Tim joined Rathbones in 2018 as an investment director.  He is a qualified chartered fellow of the Chartered Institute for Securities and Investments and holds the Securities Institute Diploma.

Tim graduated in 2000 with a Bachelors in Mechanical Engineering and after a brief period in the military, started his investment management career in 2002.  Tim spent equal time at Charles Stanley and Killik before joining HSBC Global Asset Management in 2011 where he was the Regional Head for London representing Discretionary Wealth Management.  Throughout his investment management career, Tim’s focus has been on investments for private individuals, their pensions and family trusts.

Tim Smith is a director of Rathbone Trust Company Limited, and has worked since 1982 in the fields of estate planning and financial services. He joined Rathbones in 2000, having previously worked in the City.  He has been a Chartered Tax Adviser since 1986, and is also a member of the Society of Trust and Estate Practitioners.

Tim West is an investment director, graduating from Durham University where he studied classics. He joined Rathbones in 1997 as an assistant fund manager after a career as a school master. He became an associate director in 2001 and in August 2005 an investment director. He manages private client portfolios, pension funds and charities, and is a Chartered Fellow of the Chartered Institute for Securities and Investment. Tim sits on the Rathbone Collective funds committee, with responsibility for researching Private Equity and UK Smaller companies. In addition he advises the Strategic Asset Allocation Committee on Private Equity.

Tim Woodhead

Tim Woodhead is an Investment Director and leads one of the four investment teams based in Liverpool.

Tim started his investment career in 1994 initially with Neilson Cobbold which was acquired by Rathbones in 1996. Prior to this Tim served 8 years in the Army with the 9th/12th Royal Lancers.

Tim is a Chartered Fellow of the Chartered Institute for Securities and Investment. He manages a wide variety of client portfolios including private clients, trusts, pension funds and charitable trusts on a segregated basis. Tim was a member of the group Stock Selection Committee from 2002 to 2017 and Chairman of Trustees for the Rathbone pension scheme from 2006 to 2018, he is also involved with the Financial Advisor Specialist Group. Tim was appointed as a Non-Executive Director for the Invesco Income Growth Trust plc on 3rd April 2018.

Tom Smyth

Tom is a Chartered Fellow of the Securities and Investment Institute and a Chartered Wealth Manager. He is part of the team that transferred to Rathbones from Deutsche Bank in May 2014 and before Deutsche Bank Tom was a Private Client Manager at Brown Shipley.

As an Investment Director Tom manages portfolios for Private Clients, Pension funds, Charities and Trusts. Tom holds a MSc in Industrial Relations from Manchester Business School and a BSc in Management Studies from the University of Manchester (UMIST).

Tomas Owen-Jones

Tomas Owen-Jones joined Rathbones in 2018 having previously worked for Sanlam Private Wealth. He began his career as a financial planner in 2011, before moving to work as an Investment manager in 2012.

Tomas graduated from the University of Liverpool, where he gained his Economics Degree and Masters in 2010. During his career, Tomas has attained a number of professional qualifications, including Chartered Financial Planner, Chartered Wealth Manager and is a Fellow of the Chartered Institute for Securities and Investment.

Based in the Kendal office, Tomas manages a range of private client, trust, pension and charity portfolios alongside Richard Dawson and David White. Tom lives locally with his wife Danielle and enjoys making the most of having the Lake District on his doorstep, going on hikes as well as other outdoor pursuits.

Tony Milner is an investment director. He started his career in stock broking with Allied Provincial in 1987 and over a number of years worked in their Leeds, Lymington and Kendal offices before returning to Lymington to join Brewin Dolphin in 1998 where he became a Divisional Director. He joined Rathbones in September 2012.

He specialises in managing portfolios for private individuals, trusts and pension funds and is a Chartered Fellow of the Chartered Institute for Securities and Investment.

Tony has over 25 years experience of catering for the investment needs of high net worth individuals and family trusts. He is a Fellow of the Chartered Institute for Securities and Investment.

Commencing his career in 1986 with Smith Keen & Cutler stockbrokers, Tony has continued to manage beneficial long-term client and intermediary relationships and specialises in providing and managing bespoke investment solutions for Self Invested Personal Pensions (SIPPs)/SSASs, offshore bonds, equity, bond and collective portfolios for private clients, trustees and charities.

Tony has over 26 years experience in the industry. Having studied Quantity Surveying in Liverpool, Tony then spent  18 months  with Neilson Milnes, a Liverpool Stockbroker which subsequently became Neilson Cobbold, before being taken over by Rathbones. He first joined Rathbones, before the takeover, in June 1988 and is a Chartered Fellow of the Chartered Institute for Securities and Investment.

Tony looks after a broad range of private client portfolios as well as self-invested personal pension plans, small company portfolios and a number of trusts.

Trevor Bell

Trevor Bell is an investment director, specialising in investment management for private clients, trusts, charities and personal pension funds (SIPPs) he has a particular interest in researching smaller, dynamic growth companies.

Trevor is a fellow of the Chartered Institute for Securities and Investment. After graduating from university he trained as a chartered accountant with Coopers & Lybrand before joining A H Cobbold & Co in 1983. He has therefore worked for Rathbones and its predecessors for over 28 years.
