Glen Johnson

Glen is an investment director managing discretionary portfolios for family clients, private individuals, their Self-Invested Personal pension (SIPP) and small charities. Glen is a Fellow of the Chartered Institute for securities and Investments and has 30 years experience of working within the Investment management Industry. He became part of Neilson Cobbold in 1991 which was then acquired by Rathbones in 1996.

As well as the day to day management of clients portfolios, Glen sits on the investment committee covering collectives and is closely involved with the strategic development of the Group’s IT systems and technological support of its investment management operations.

Gordon is an Investment Director and manages investment portfolios for a wide range of clients.

Gordon graduated from Strathclyde University with a degree in analytical chemistry before joining Speirs & Jeffrey in 1992. He is a Chartered Fellow of the Chartered Institute for Securities & Investment. Speirs & Jeffrey was fully integrated with Rathbones in July 2019.

Graeme Dickie

Graeme is an Investment Director and manages portfolios for a broad range of clients. With a background in research Graeme continues to take a considerable interest in smaller companies in the building, construction and real estate sectors.

Graeme graduated from Glasgow University with a law degree and joined Speirs & Jeffrey in 1986. Speirs & Jeffrey was fully integrated with Rathbones in July 2019.

Graham Waddell

A former Director and Chair of Speirs & Jeffrey, Graham is an Investment Director and manages and advises on a full spectrum of client portfolios. Graham was educated in Edinburgh and graduated with a BA in business studies from Napier. He gained experience in several investment firms in Scotland and the United States before joining S&J in 1990.

Graham is a non-executive Director of MacTaggart Scott (Holdings) Ltd and associated companies. He is Chair of the Scottish Stockbrokers Benevolent Fund and acts as a trustee for a number of charities both north and south of the border. Speirs & Jeffrey was fully integrated with Rathbones in July 2019.

Graham is an investment director with Rathbones and has worked in the industry for over 25 years. He is a member of the Chartered Securities Institute.
Graham's qualifications combine both business studies and investment management, giving him a unique insight into investment opportunities. He concentrates exclusively on private client portfolios and has many longstanding happy clients, a number of whom are second generation. He is always keen to talk to potential new clients.

Grant Jordan

Grant’s investment career began in 1999 with a role at Bank of Scotland Portfolio Management Service. He began managing client portfolios in 2005 after securing the Investment Management Certificate. He moved to Rensburg Sheppards (Investec Wealth & Investment) in 2009 and continued managing client portfolios until he left in late 2016. After a short spell at Anderson Strathearn he joined Speirs & Jeffrey in March 2018 as a Senior Investment Manager and works closely with Michael Wilson.

Grant has a business degree from the University of Abertay in Dundee and is a Chartered Fellow of the Chartered Institute for Securities & Investment. Speirs & Jeffrey was fully integrated with Rathbones in July 2019.

Grant graduated from Heriot-Watt University in 2014 with a first class degree in Business Management with Marketing. After working for Merck in the pharmaceutical industry, he completed the CFA UK’s Investment Management Certificate. In 2016 Grant joined Carbon Financial Partners as a Graduate Trainee and completed the Diploma in Regulated Financial Planning in 2017. He is currently progressing towards the Advanced Diploma.

Grant assists with client meetings and the associated tasks as well as drafting certain pieces of advice.

Grant has almost 20 years experience in the industry having joined Glasgow stockbrokers Stirling Hendry in 1995 whilst still at university. Starting on the firms graduate trainee program, he progressed to the role of investment manager looking after variety of a private clients, trusts and charities. Through a variety of mergers the firm eventually became part of the Gerrard Group and he moved to Brewin Dolphin in 2005 and became an Assistant Director. He joined Rathbones in May 2015

Grant is a Member of the Chartered Institute for Securities and Investments. Outside of the office his interests are running and travel.

Greg Mullins

Greg is head of sales, responsible for developing relationships with the third-party market: fund platforms, wraps, and life companies, as well as the underlying IFA community that now increasingly rely on these platforms.

Prior to joining Rathbones, Greg worked at M&G for over 20 years where, latterly, he was director of advisory sales. In this role, he was responsible for developing and implementing the UK intermediary sales strategy and maintaining strong relationships across the retail third-party market.

Harry Coles

Harry joined Rathbones in September 2014 following the purchase of the Jupiter Private Clients & Charities department where he had worked for just under three years. He graduated from Edinburgh University after reading Mechanical Engineering with a BEng (Honours) and holds the IMC, and IAD Securities qualification. He is now working towards completing the CISI Chartered Wealth Manager qualification.

Harry works in a team assisting in the management of portfolios for individuals, families, trusts, pension funds and charities.

Hayley Mason

Hayley is a client service executive at Rathbones. She has over 5 years’ experience in the financial services industry and joined Rathbones in January 2019. She has most recently been an investment manager’s assistant at Arbuthnot Latham & Co. having had roles in insurance and corporate banking prior to this.  Hayley is responsible for all aspects of client administration and supports Alex Dow and Libby Barrett within the charities team.

Helen Gerrard

Helen is an investment director and started her career at Rathbones in 1987. Helen spent the early part of her career as a dealer and was senior dealer for five years before moving into fund management in 1994. Helen then went on to complete her professional qualifications and is a Chartered Fellow of the Chartered Institute for Securities and Investment and a Chartered Wealth Manager.

Helen works in a team with investment director Nick Jackson, and they specialise in the management of private clients, trusts and pension funds as well as managing portfolios on behalf of a number of charities. Helen also contributes to the Rathbone Investment process being a member of the Stock Selection Committee.

Helen is an associate sales director, responsible for discretionary and institutional sales in London.

She joined Rathbones in 2000, having previously worked at Franklin Templeton, and Murray Johnston, responsible for institutional investment trust shareholder relationships.

Helena Wakefield

Helena is a trainee investment manager in the investment management team at Rathbones. She joined Rathbones in 2018 following the completion of her BSc (Hons) degree in Economics and Management from the University of Bristol.

Helena is a member of the Chartered Institute for Securities and Investments (CISI) having achieved the CISI level 4 Investment Advice Diploma (Securities) in 2019.

Henry Barnes

Henry is an investment manager who started his career at Brewin Dolphin before joining Rathbones in November 2016. He assists Natalie Rizzi in managing investments for a range of private client portfolios, trusts and pension funds.

Henry is a Chartered Member of the Chartered Institute for Securities and Investment, having obtained the Investment Advice Diploma and the Chartered Wealth Manager qualification.

Henry is an investment director with over 25 years' experience in the private client industry, both in the UK and Hong Kong. At Rathbones Henry concentrates on investments for private individuals, their pensions and family trust structures. Henry is qualified as a Chartered Fellow of the Chartered Institute for Securities and Investments and holds the Securities Institute Diploma.

On returning to the UK from Asia in 1997, Henry worked initially at investment managers Raphael Zorn Hemsley and Tilney & Co. before in 2006 joining HSBC Global Asset Management, as a director. This was in the Discretionary Wealth Management division, with regional responsibility for the North and working closely with clients and their advisors. After 10 years service there he moved to Rathbones in 2016.

Henry Eden

Henry is an investment director in the London office responsible for the investment management of private clients, trusts, charities and SIPP accounts. He is also responsible, with two other investment directors in London, for the selection of investment trusts for the group's Managed Funds Committee.

Henry started his career in investment management in 1984 when he joined Wood Mackenzie and subsequently James Capel in London. He joined Rathbones' London office in 1989, initially as an assistant to the former chairman of Rathbones. Henry started in Rathbones Edinburgh office in September 2004 and moved to the London office in 2018.

Henry is a business development director at Rathbones. He operates from the Liverpool office and covers the North West of England and North Wales. His responsibilities include creating opportunities for investment managers to acquire new business from trustees, both charitable and private, lawyers, accountants and private individuals. He joined Rathbones in 1994. Prior to this he worked at what was then Wise Speke stockbrokers in Manchester.

Huw O'Dell

Huw is an investment sales consultant and is a key point of contact for IFAs, brokers and DFM clients. He works alongside Neil Kerry, responsible for the North.

Prior to joining Rathbones, Huw began his career at Northern Trust, working within Transfer Agency. Huw then moved on to Allfunds Bank in an account management capacity, managing the on-boarding of new clients and day to day operations for Allfunds institutional client base. 

Huw holds a BA (Hons) degree in History, Politics and Philosophy from the University of Brighton. 

 

Iain Currie

Iain is an investment manager with experience managing a variety of bespoke portfolios including SIPPs, offshore bonds and discretionary trusts for private clients, financial advisers and solicitors.

Iain is a Chartered Fellow of the Chartered Institute for Securities and Investment and holds the CISI’s Masters in Wealth Management (Level 7), Investment Management Certificate and a Diploma in Financial Services.  

Iain began his career in investment management in 2002 with Bank of Scotland Portfolio Management Service where he rose to the position of investment manager before joining Rathbones' Edinburgh office in 2010 following the acquisition of the Bank of Scotland business from Lloyds.

Ian Buckley

Ian is a consultant to the trust department’s offshore business. He qualified as a Chartered Accountant with Peat, Marwick, Mitchell & Co. (now KPMG) in 1975. He was chief executive of Smith & Williamson for ten years from 1985 to 1995, and subsequently chief executive of EFG Private Bank Limited and Tenon Group Plc. He was a director of the Rathbone Brothers Plc until December 2012. He is a committee member of Family Assurance Friendly Society and a director of Miller Insurance Services LLP.

Ian Dembinski

Ian joined Rathbones in 2016 as head of Rathbones Private Office with a focus on larger high net worth clients including entrepreneurs, families and successful individuals looking for tailored investment management services. In July 2019 he was appointed to a wider role of head of client development with responsibility for delivering the optimal Rathbones investment solutions to our clients including portfolio management, financial planning, trusts and international services.

Prior to joining Rathbones he was head of UK domestic private banking at Credit Suisse and head of UK ultra high net worth clients at UBS. He is level 6 PCIAM qualified and studied Modern History at Oxford University.

Ian Hardcastle

Ian is an investment director, managing a variety of investment portfolios.  Ian graduated in 2000 from Southampton Business School with an honours degree in business studies and is now a Chartered Financial Analyst and a member of the CFA Institute.

Ian started his career as a trainee portfolio manager with HSBC in 2000. Ian spent nine years working in the private client department managing portfolios for private clients, personal pension funds, trusts and charities.  Ian joined Rathbones in 2009.

Ian Matthews

Ian is the company secretary and operations manager at Rathbone Investment Management International, having been with Rathbones since 2002, after the acquisition of Oaktree Investment Management by Rathbones Brother Plc.

Ian in his current role has responsibility for offshore operations, and oversees the Company Secretarial function.

He began his career with Royal Bank of Canada, then Royal Trust, in 1987 before joining Lazards in 1992. Ian was a member of the team that established the investment management operation for Société Générale in Jersey in 1997 before moving to Oaktree Investment Management, an independent investment business in 1999.

Ian is a regional director and specialises in managing bespoke investment portfolios on behalf of private individuals, charities, trusts and pension funds. He is a Chartered Fellow of the Chartered Institute of Securities and Investment and holds an honours degree in Accounting and Finance.

Ian has over 20 years experience in the investment management industry. During his career Ian has forged strong working relationships with a range of National and Midlands based firms of intermediaries including solicitors, accountants and independent financial advisors.

Before joining Rathbones’ Birmingham office, as an investment director in October 2010 Ian worked as a director of Deutsche Bank Private Wealth Management, formerly Tilney Investment Management.

Ian is an investment director and has over 30 years’ experience in the discretionary management of investment portfolios. After graduating in 1982 Ian joined Strauss Turnbull where he spent 20 years managing international portfolios for private individuals, trusts and corporate funds before joining Rathbones’ Edinburgh office in 2003.

Ian became a Chartered Member of the Chartered Institute for Securities and Investments in 1986.

Ivan began his investment management career in 1996 with Hargreave Hale, joining Rathbones from Gerrard Investment Management in 2005.

Having graduated in 1996 with honours in Politics, Economics and Law from the University of Buckingham he has gained the Chartered Institute for Securities and Investment Diploma and is a Chartered Fellow of the Chartered Institute for Securities and Investment.

Ivan is an investment director, responsible for Rathbones’ Specialist Tax portfolios which incorporate AIM quoted Inheritance Tax and Enterprise Investment Scheme strategies.

Ivo is head of specialist and charity business, and continues to manage charity and private client portfolios. 

Ivo joined Rathbones after graduating from Edinburgh University in 1991 and is a Chartered Fellow of the Chartered Institute for Securities and Investment.  He was appointed an investment director of Rathbone Investment Management Limited in 1999 and joined the group executive committee in July 2015. 

Jaclyn King-Gibson

Jaclyn began her investment career at Rathbones in 2004 and has worked in a smaller companies investment team that covers AIM quoted EIS and Business Property Relief investments for over a decade. She has been awarded the Private Client Investment Advice Diploma and is a Chartered Fellow of the Chartered Institute for Securities and Investment. Jaclyn also holds the EIS Diploma and is a member of the Regional EIS Association Committee.

Jaimie is a trainee investment manager in the investment management team at Rathbones. Having graduated from the University of Warwick, where he studied philosophy, Jaimie joined Rathbones in 2017. He spent time working in operations before joining the trainee programme in September 2018. 

Jaimie is a student member of the Chartered Institute for Securities and Investments (CISI) and currently studying for the CISI level 4 Investment Advice Diploma.
