Robert Goodchild

Robert Goodchild joins us as an investment director from Taylor Young Investment Management Ltd and manages a range of private client, trust, charity and SIPP portfolios.

Robert began his career at Scrimgeour Kemp-Gee Ltd in 1982 before moving to Greig Middleton in 1991 and subsequently joining Taylor Young Investment Management Ltd in 2004. Robert is a Chartered Member of the Chartered Institute for Securities & Investment.

Robert is an Investment Director and he has over 20 years experience managing portfolios for wealthy private clients, trusts, pensions and charities.

After University, RMA Sandhurst and serving as an Army Officer for four years, Robert joined the City stockbrokers Laurence Keen that was acquired by Rathbones in 1995. He is qualified as a Chartered Wealth Manager and is a Chartered Fellow of the Chartered Institute of Securities and Investment.  Robert has had a number of senior roles within the business and is currently Deputy Head of the London office.

Robert is a Non-executive Director of the social impact investment company, Investing for Good, and is on the Court of the Haberdashers’ Company.  Previously he has served in a number of charity, civic and church roles including being an elected member of the City of London Corporation’s Common Council for eight years, during which time he served as Chairman of both the Investment Committee and the Financial Investment Board.

Bob Szechenyi is an investment director, having joined Rathbones in October 2000.  He runs a desk with fellow investment directors Richard Lanyon, Randolph Churchill, David Bassett and investment manager Stuart Furzer.  The desk manages in excess of £850m.

Bob is a Fellow of the Chartered Institute for Securities and Investment and manages discretionary private client investment portfolios, together with a number of charities, personal pension schemes, off shore bonds and family trusts. 

He is a member of the Rathbones Collective Funds Investment Committee, and has responsibility for the research, selection and ongoing monitoring of structured products for the group. 

In addition, Bob helped launch the International team in 2015 which manages Sterling, Euro and Dollar portfolios for clients of International advisers and in 2017 the team was named Best International Discretionary Fund Manager at the annual International Investment awards

Bob is also responsible for communicating Rathbones investment views to the media and is quoted regularly in the national press.

Robert Unsworth

Robert joined Rathbones in 2017 as an Investment Director and has over fifteen years of investment management experience. He began his career in 2000, working for a number of regional stockbrokers before spending thirteen years at Brown Shipley in their Manchester office.

Rob is a Chartered Fellow of the Chartered Institute for Securities and Investment, a Chartered Wealth Manager and holds an honours degree in Accounting.

 At Rathbones, Rob is responsible for managing multi asset investment portfolios for  private individuals, trustees, and pension funds. He places the utmost importance on building close relationships with his clients and delivering the highest quality of service.

 

Robert Walker

Robert joined Rathbones in 2014 as Investment Director. He started his investment career over 20 years ago at Coutts & Co as portfolio manager in their investment department after graduating from Newcastle University with a degree in Economics and Business Management in 1994.

After gaining his investment qualifications at Coutts he then moved to the private client division of Invesco Perpetual as Investment Director and was responsible for the integration of Perpetual’s private client division, focussing on the management of both UK and international private client portfolios. In 2004, Invesco Perpetual sold their private client division to Singer & Friedlander and, in 2008, Robert joined Jupiter Asset Management with the same team of individuals he has worked with since 1995.

Finally, Jupiter sold their private client division to Rathbones in 2014, where Robert retains his specialism of managing investment portfolios for high net worth individuals, trusts, charities and pension funds, both in the UK and for international “ex-pats” by working in partnership with specialist financial advisors in Europe. He is a Chartered Fellow of the Securities Institute.

Rollo Duckworth

Rollo Duckworth is an investment director, looking after private clients, family trusts, and small pensions and charities.  He is a Chartered Member of the Chartered Institute for Securities and Investment, and holds the Investment Advice Certificate.

Rollo joined Rathbones in 2006, from Ely Fund Managers where he had been managing director since 1999.

Rosie Bezant

Rosie is an investment sales executive, working on developing relationships with the third-party market, including fund platforms, wraps, and life companies, as well as the underlying IFA community, which now increasingly rely on these platforms. Her focus is on the South.

Rosie joined Rathbones in July 2008, having graduated with a BA Hons from Sussex University.

Rosie joined Rathbone Greenbank in June 2015. She has a BSc (Hons) in Mathematics from Manchester University.  She has been awarded the CISI level 4 Investment Advice Diploma and is an associate member of the Chartered Institute for Securities & Investment. 

Ross Bridger

Ross began his career in operations at Lifetime Group and subsequently Singer & Friedlander. He then spent almost six years with Jupiter Asset Management as a portfolio manager before joining Rathbones in September 2014.

Ross graduated from Cambridge University with a Masters degree in Natural Sciences and is a Chartered Wealth Manager and chartered member of the CISI (Chartered Institute for Securities & Investment). He now sits on the CISI examination panel for the Financial Markets module of the Chartered Wealth Manager Qualification (formerly known as CISI Masters in Wealth Management).

Rowland Flower

Rowland began his investment career in 1997 at Fleming Private Asset Management (subsequently acquired by JP Morgan Chase) where he built up a solid grounding in equity research before becoming a Private Client Portfolio Manager. In 2001, he joined HSBC Investment Management, where he was made a director and ultimately responsible for a team managing over £200m of assets.

Rowland moved to PSigma Investment Management as an investment director in 2005, making a significant contribution to the firm’s expansion during his six years managing private client, trust and SIPP portfolios. He joined the Liverpool office of Rathbones in January 2012 as an investment director.

Rowland graduated from Newcastle University in 1997 with 2:1 BSc (Hons) degree in Rural & Environmental Economics. Professional qualifications include the SFA Registered Person’s Certificate (1998) and the Securities Institute Diploma (2000).  In 2001 he was made a Chartered Fellow of the Chartered Institute for Securities and Investment.  In 2008 and 2009, he received nominations at the Spear’s Wealth Management Awards in the category ‘Future Leader in Wealth Management’.

At Rathbones, Rowland manages discretionary portfolios for private clients, including SIPPs, trusts and offshore bonds.  He is also a member of the Financial Adviser Specialist Group.

Rupert Baron

Rupert Baron is an investment director of Rathbone Investment Management and head of the London office. He manages a broad range of investment mandates including those for, individuals, trusts, pension funds (SIPPs and SSAS), charities and local authorities.

Rupert holds an honours degree in economics, is an alumnus of INSEAD and is a Chartered Fellow of the Chartered Institute for Securities & Investment.

He has over 34 years’ experience within the private client investment industry.  He joined the Group Executive Committee in July 2015 and heads our London investment team.

 

Rupert Heggs

Rupert Heggs is an Investment Director with over 30 years experience. He joined Rathbones in 2001. He specialises in the management of domestic, international private client and charitable portfolios.

Rupert graduated in accountancy studies at Exeter University, is a Chartered Fellow of the Chartered Institute for Securities and Investment and holds an MBA in International Management of Financial Services. Rupert was previously a director at Flemings, having been with that company since the start of his City career in 1987. 

He is a member of Rathbones International Stock Selection and Corporate Governance and Stewardship Committees.

Rupert Pepper

Rupert Pepper is director – corporate development and is part of the team responsible for co-ordinating the M & A activities for the Group and leading Group-wide strategic projects.

Prior to joining Rathbones in March 2015 Rupert spent 15 years in corporate finance at Hawkpoint Partners and subsequently Canaccord Genuity, where he advised a wide variety of financial services companies on M&A and financing transactions, with a particular focus on the investment management and private banking sectors. He is a Chartered Fellow of the Securities Institute.

Sally-Ann Gallier

Sally-Ann Gallier is an investment manager with over 14 years experience and manages a variety of bespoke investment portfolios on behalf of private clients, including SIPPs, offshore bonds, charities and trusts. Sally-Ann also works closely with a range of national and Midlands based firms of intermediaries including solicitors, accountants and independent financial advisors. In 2002, Sally-Ann completed the Securities Institute Diploma and is a Chartered Fellow of the Chartered Institute of Securities and Investment. Before joining Rathbones in April 2008, Sally-Ann initially started her career in the banking sector and moved in 1997 to Albert E Sharp, subsequently acquired by Barclays Wealth, where she progressed to Associate Director.

Samantha Boyd

Samantha Boyd joined Rathbones, London, in September 2014 as an Investment Director, having previously been a Private Clients and Charities Director at Jupiter Asset Management for over thirteen years.  Samantha started her career at Lazard Asset Management.  Throughout her career she has looked after large family groups and both public and private charities.  She specialises in succession planning for large family groups and divorce.

Samantha has a degree in French and Management Studies from Reading University where she also spent one year at l’IAE de Poitiers studying for a MBA.

Sammy Dow

Sammy is Assistant Fund Manager on the Rathbone Global Opportunities Fund. He joined Rathbones in July 2014 from JP Morgan Cazenove, where he worked for 14 years in Pan-European Equity Sales providing both primary and secondary advice to Hedge Funds, Institutional and Private clients.

Sammy is a graduate of both Edinburgh and Cambridge University where he completed an MA in 2001.

Sanjiv Tumkur

Sanjiv started his career at Morgan Grenfell Asset Management (later Deutsche Asset Management) in 1996 where he was an investment manager and equity research analyst. In 2006 he joined Alliance Bernstein to focus on equity research for mid cap companies and later moved to Investec Wealth & Investment. Sanjiv graduated from Oxford University with a degree in Philosophy, Politics and Economics and has passed the Institute of Investment Management and Research (IIMR) exams.

Sarah Owen-Jones

Sarah Owen-Jones is Chief Risk Officer, and joined Rathbones in March 2015.  She worked for NatWest and RBS group for over 30 years, including 13 years at Coutts. 

Sarah’s career turned to risk management in the 1990s and she worked in Switzerland for 3 years as the Chief Risk Officer for Coutts’ international private banking business.  She moved to the Non Core Division of RBS in 2010 and most recently provided risk oversight of RBS’ transformation programme. 

Sarah has an MBA with a dissertation on operational risk management and she is a Member of the Institute of Risk Management. She joined the group executive committee in July 2015.

Sarah Tobey

Sarah Tobey is regional director of the Exeter office, She continues to manage a wide variety of investment portfolios  and is a Fellow of the Chartered Institute for Securities and Investment.

Sarah started her career at Cazenove in the City in 1985.  In 1990, she moved down to Devon and joined West Country Stockbroker Rowan Dartington at its inception. Over the next 20 years she specialised in managing bespoke investment portfolios for private clients, trusts and charities. In 1996 she was made a main board director of Rowan Dartington with responsibility for private clients.  Sarah joined Rathbones in 2010.

Sarra Hamizi

Sarra is a credit Analyst who joined Rathbones in July 2015. She is responsible for providing in-depth credit analysis for the Fixed Income Committee and to investment managers at Rathbones. Sarra covers names from different sectors including financials and corporates but predominantly US banks and European corporates. Prior to joining Rathbones, Sarra completed a summer internship with Goldman Sachs in the Syndicated bank loan division within the operations department.

Sarra graduated from Birmingham University with a Bachelor of Business Management in 2015. She has also achieved a master’s degree in Banking and International Finance with Merit in 2016 from Cass Business School. Sarra holds the Investment Management Certificate and is currently a CFA level 1 candidate (Chartered Financial Analyst).

Sean Curran

Sean Curran joined Rathbones in 2015 and oversees the Research Support function. Sean is also responsible for the management and implementation of the investment research communications strategy.

Previously, Sean worked for Dow Jones as a senior associate covering the private markets. During his time there, he produced an array of research content for clients and for public consumption, focusing principally on private equity and venture capital investment activity in the U.S., EMEA and China.

Sean received an honours degree in European Studies with Spanish from the University of Portsmouth, which included a five month overseas study placement at the University of Salamanca.

Shelly Patel

Shelly manages the Investor Relations function at Rathbone Brothers Plc.  She started her career in Toronto working for TD Securities before moving to the UK to join the London Stock Exchange where she held various roles that allowed her to build her experience of listing rules and annual Plc practices.   She then joined the Investor Relations practice of Citigate Dewe Rogerson where she worked with a number of large UK and European listed clients across a range of industries executing their investor relations programmes. Shelly holds a MSc in Managerial Economics and Strategy from the London School of Economics and a BA from The Richard Ivey School of Business. 

Simon Dewar

Simon is a Regional Director and the Head of Office for Edinburgh. He has managed investments for private individuals, trusts, pension funds and charities for 17 years and is a Chartered Fellow of the Chartered Institute for Securities and Investments.

Simon began his investment career with Albert E. Sharp in 2001. After completing his training, he moved back north of the border to work at Brewin Dolphin in Edinburgh, before joining Rathbones in 2006. Simon looks after some £525m of client funds and chairs the groups Self Invested Personal Pension committee. The other Investment Directors on his team are John Gunn, Evangelos Assimakos and Keith Mackenzie. They are supported by Investment Manager, Stephen MacGowan and Client Service Executive Sarah Masterton-Hale.

Simon Foster is an Investment Director and a Chartered Member of the Chartered Institute for Securities & Investment.

He is responsible for managing investment portfolios on behalf of private clients, charities, trusts, and pension funds.  Simon works closely with independent financial advisers in the South West to provide a quality service for their clients.

Simon joined in June 2010 from Rowan Dartington to assist with the expansion of Rathbones into the West Country.

Simon Heathcoat Amory is an investment director, graduating from Newcastle University in 2005 with an honours degree in geography.

He joined Rathbones as a graduate in November 2005, and now manages investments for a range of private client portfolios, trusts and pension funds, and works in alongside Christopher Buzzard.

Simon is a chartered fellow of the Chartered Institute for Securities and Investment, and sits on the Managed Funds Committee with a focus on investment trusts, specifically those investing in Emerging Markets and Asia.  He is also a member of the Stewardship Committee, which coordinates the company’s voting policy and corporate interaction with investee companies.

Simon Parker

Simon Parker is an investment director and  a member of the Institute of Chartered Accountants in England and Wales (ICAEW), a  Chartered Fellow of the Chartered Institute for Securities and Investment (CISI) and an IMC member of the CFA Society of the UK.

Simon joined Rathbones in April 2006 as a result of the acquisition of Ely Fund Managers (Part of the Dexia Group). Simon qualified as a Chartered Accountant with Binder Hamlyn in 1983 since when he has chalked up over 25 years stock-market experience in the City and overseas working for a number of leading UK and international stockbrokers before joining Ely Fund Managers in 2002.

Simon Whitmore is an investment director who specialises in the management of private client portfolios, trusts, pensions and charities and is a Chartered Fellow of the Chartered Institute of Securities and Investment. Simon has worked in the financial industry since his graduation in 1991 and he was directly involved in opening the Cambridge office for Rathbones in 2001.

Sophie Boyd-Wallis

Sophie is responsible for internal communications at Rathbone Brothers plc and media relations for Rathbone Investment Management. With a PR agency background, she has also worked in-house at global organisations including Freshfields Bruckhaus Deringer, White & Case and Alstom. She graduated from the University of Bath with a degree in International Management and French and was a Deloitte Scholar.

Stephen Bennett

Stephen Bennett is an investment manager,  assisting in the management of private client, company and charity investment portfolios and is also a member of Rathbones’ Collectives Research Committee with responsibility for UK collective fund research.  Stephen graduated from Exeter University in 2006 with a Masters degree in finance and investment and is a Chartered Member of the Chartered Institute for Securities and Investment. 

Following a short career as a professional rugby player with Exeter Chiefs, Stephen started as a trainee portfolio manager with Charles Stanley in 2008. He joined Rathbones in 2010

Stephen Hunter

Stephen Hunter is Deputy Regional Manager of the Edinburgh Office.  He specialises in the management of investments for private clients, trusts, and personal pension funds.

Prior to joining Rathbones, he spent 15 years with Cornelian Asset Managers where he contributed to the early development of this smaller independent firm.  He trained with ABN AMRO Asset Management where he joined as a graduate from University of Edinburgh in 1996. 

He has long experience of working with financial advisers and is a member of the Rathbones IFA Investment Committee.  He is also interested in investment technology and systems and sits on the Front Office IT committee. 

Stephen is an Associate of the Society of Investment Professionals and a member of Chartered Institute for Securities and Investment.
